The Heart of the Matter

As much as I can attest to having a great time at the con, one thing vexed me. You see, I'm a member of the SFR Brigade (Science Fiction Romance) and I was looking forward to championing the genre to the straight SF crowd. The crowd surprised me and took an "oh that is awesome" attitude. Which should be a good thing.

Except I wanted to exercise my diplomatic skills, and they were completely unnecessary.
tiny whine

Really, it is a good thing, but now I need an outlet, and I've had a few days to m...

Con-tented

Well the dust is settling. The suitcase is open, if not entirely unpacked yet.
The convention giggles have subsided, and I'm ready to process this one into a neat, reader-friendly package.

sigh.

Once again, Spocon was a pleasant suprise. I'm not able to explain the phenomenon--why the names are bigger, (heroic is some instances) and yet this particular convention takes the prize for friendly, approachable fun... Maybe the mystery of that is part of the charm. Maybe I'm just geographicaly biase...

Con-taining my Excitement

It's that time again, boys and girls....

sunblock, check.
furry slippers, check.
Star Trek communicator jewelry, check.

....

less than a week till con time. The good one, you know.
This year's line up is full of fabulous pros, returning favorites
and a chaotic half written schedule of fabulous panels.
I'm almost twitching with excitement.

I'll give a full report on my return, but until then--
party on, Dude.

A Cruel Injustice

I have two children, both under that age of five.
This summer, our local movie house is running a free movie program. Three days a week they screen a slightly less than new feature before the actual films get going, and they open the doors to the community and let the masses watch for free.

Now, at 10 am on weekdays, that means moms...with kids. People like me.
Mom's who rarely get out of the house at all during the week. Mom's who aren't certain their children will sit through an entire movie a...

Things and Stuff

I just discovered the Science Fiction Romance Reading Challenge at:
http://raelori.blogspot.com/p/2010-sf...

I believe it's the first one of its kind and I'm diving in if anyone else wants to play.

Also, I have an interview up today over at Raine Delight's blog:
http://rainedelightbooknook.blogspot....

And I got my new phone, fancy, lovely, camera and unlimited web surfing....
and I still can't get that bloody communicator sound on it. ...

Tech Envy

Have I mentioned that I suffer from this before?
It seems like a recurring theme, and it's definitely time to do something about it.

My good friend sent me some links the other day--nothing too out there, just personal hover vehicles, jet packs, little household robots (WANT) and the like.
Okay, I have a weakness for robots. I'd still like a ROOMBA or whatever they called those little vaccuum disks. I don't care if they clean properly, I just want it to run around and make robot noises.

Of co...

Chat with: Anita Philmar

Please join me in welcoming author, Anita Philmar.

Anita, when did you know you wanted to be an author? Can you tell us a little bit about how you got there?

I believe I toyed with the idea when I was back in high school. My parents didn't like the idea and wanted me to concentrate on jobs that would make enough money to support myself. I put my dreams on a shelf and rediscover the joy of telling stories when my children were born, but still I delayed until I was given, the time to fully explor...
