A Match Made in Heaven

I'm not a huge fan of celebrities. It's not a big secret.
Personally I find it unfathomable that someone would: expect to get out of jail early because "prison made them sad" or demand a million dollars for one day's work, or get plastered and march up and down the street shouting vile things and expect America and the rest of the world to forgive them because they're so darned pretty.

That's not the worst of it, either.

So... :-) When I heard on the news that Kevin Costner had somehow come up...

Meet Author Clare Dargin

I have the distinct pleasure of introducing author, Clare Dargin. Please join me in giving her a warm welcome.

Clare Dargin is an author of science fiction and science fiction romance books. Her newest work "Speculative Sky" is available from Red Rose Publishing.

What inspired you to write this book?

Well, ever since I was a child I always wanted to be a writer. It was a dream of mine to be published and to write stories that everyone could enjoy. Speculative Sky was created because I've alway...

Declaration of Procrastination

I'm a world champion procrastinator. I always have been, and secretly, I felt somewhat proud of the fact. I come from a long line of heavy weight put-er-offers and I believed that I was simply carrying on with my genetic duty.

But in the last few decades I've learned all about finishing things. I've become relatively addicted to getting things done. I enjoy it immensely. And I think I just back-slid about five years.

I'm a recovering procrastinator and I haven't had a....ooops. Time for a meeti...

Now Thats What Im Talking About

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/ja-konrath/is-print-dead_b_583959.html

I SO wish I'd written this.
Still, I doubt print is dead. Don't get too excited, I think it'll be
POD vending machines all the way.
Stop into your favorite coffee shop, order a few books and drink your latte
while they print. Sounds like bliss to me...and to the wasted paper and dead trees too.

Read the article. It'll make you laugh or cry.

Staying Inside the Lines

Okay, we know I have an painting background, so you will, no doubt, expect me to negate the above title. Normally, I would insist on it. I'm one of the messiest artists you'll ever meet, trust me. A whole history of splattered ceilings will agree. But, we're talking about writing here, right?

Specifically, I'm talking about guidelines. Submission guidelines, query guidelines, pitch guidelines, you name it.
Ahhhhh. Now you see where I'm coming from, right?

One of the things that made me really s...

Future Imperfect?

So I read a great article the other day about writing goals. It focused primarily on keeping in mind why you write and what is important to you, rather than getting lost in the rush for money/fame/x factor of your choice.

That's not really what caught my attention about it, however. You see the author mentioned the new frontiers of e-publishing and while his fears about the changes and comparisons to the print world were very well put and in some cases very valid, I disagreed with his central...

Lurking Love Stories

I'm back. Here's my second installment of:

Romance Lurking in the Science Fiction section.

I've been thinking about this a great deal (yes, I have too much time on my hands. I should be writing) and I'm going to tackle some of these by author rather than title. I mean, some of the original great ladies of sci fi are seriously prolific in the romance department.

With that in mind, I'll start with my all time favorite--Andre Norton.

Known as the "Grand Damme of Science Fiction," Norton has more t...
