Sharia in Action: Inside the British University, Muslims segregated by sex: Shocking picture shows how men were reserved front-row seats while women pushed to the back

".....women pushed to the back of the hall, while men are given the best seats to see and hear the speaker.’

How the British have laid down to most brutal and vicious ideology on the face of the earth.

They ban defenders of free speech and freedom of conscience like myself and Robert Spencer  while turning over their society to seventh century philistines. Oh, how the mighty have fallen.

Apparently,  over a quarter of visits by Islamic speakers to British universities resulted in segregated meetings. Last week the controversy over gender segregation prompted the Prime Minister to intervene. This particular case of gender apartheid was for ‘Dawah Training Course’.  Dawah is proslytizing or inviting conversion to Islam.

Guest speaker Saleem Chagtai said: 'Separate seating for men and women is not something we ever enforce. It happens naturally and if Muslim women were disadvantaged they would be the first to complain'

Yes, under the pain of death.

Speaker at the event: 'Separate seating is not something we ever enforce'

With women obliged to sit yards behind chairs reserved exclusively for men, the photograph above shows the shocking reality of gender segregation at a British university.

It was taken earlier this year at a training course at Leicester University organised by its Islamic Society. The course was entitled Call Of Duty and it featured a guest speaker from a hardline Islamic group.

Rupert Sutton of campaign group Student Rights, which monitors campus extremism, said: ‘The obvious discrimination in this picture is what segregated seating can mean in practice – women pushed to the back of the hall, while men are given the best seats to see and hear the speaker.’

The disturbing image emerged at the end of a week in which Universities UK – the vice-chancellors’ association – backed down from guidelines it had previously given that apparently allowed campus Islamic societies to impose segregated seating at meetings.

The guidelines have been withdrawn while Universities UK consults with the Equality and Human Rights Commission about the appropriate position. It is expected to be forced to back down permanently.

A recent report by Student Rights found that over a quarter of visits by Islamic speakers to British universities resulted in segregated meetings. Last week the controversy over gender segregation prompted the Prime Minister to intervene.

Mr Cameron said: ‘I’m absolutely clear that there should not be segregated audiences for visiting speakers to universities in Britain. That is not the right approach, the guidance should say that universities should not allow this.’

The Leicester University event in February was billed as a ‘Dawah Training Course’. Dawah is the word Muslims use to mean ‘preaching’ or ‘invitation to Islam’.

It was held on a Sunday in the oak-panelled Queen’s Hall and featured guest speaker Saleem Chagtai from the Islamic Education and Research Academy (IERA).

Mr Chagtai said: ‘Separate seating for men and women is not something we ever enforce.

‘It happens naturally and if Muslim women were disadvantaged they would be the first to complain. They are forthright, not meek and mild as those who do not understand Islam assume.

‘This photo must have been taken at the start of the meeting because by the end there were many more women at the talk.

‘We have consulted with Liberty and the Equalities and Human Rights Commission to ensure that we stay within the law and we do this by providing a mixed seating area for those who prefer this.

‘I think David Cameron has failed to do his homework. He is trying to make capital out of a problem that isn’t there.’

Soon after this photograph was taken, the IERA was barred from University College London for segregating seating at a debate over the existence of God.

Several of its leading figures have a history of making intolerant comments against free speech and in favour of brutal punishments for homosexuals and ‘fornicators’.

IERA was invited back to Leicester University a month after the Call Of Duty course for a debate called Does God Exist? Photographs of that event emerged showing signs pointing males (brothers) and females (sisters) to different entrances.

It prompted the university authorities to investigate after they were alerted that its own Islamic Society boasted of operating ‘a strict policy of segregated seating between males and females’.

At the time, university officials insisted that they did not permit enforced segregation and there would be ‘no recurrence’.

Last night there was no comment from Leicester University’s Islamic Society.

A spokesman for the university said: ‘The university expects all persons to respect its commitment to freedom of speech, its good name and reputation and to be sensitive  to the feelings of all sections of its diverse community.

‘We will be in discussions with Universities UK following their most recent statement to clarify the impact of their legal advice.’

'If my son did what Michael Adebolajo did, I would be happy': Hate preacher Omar Bakri Muhammad says he is proud of Lee Rigby murderer

According to jihadic doctrine, this imam would be proud. But .... it's islamophobia that's the real problem.

A hate preacher says he would be 'proud' if his son killed a man like Lee Rigby's murderer Michael Adebolajo.

Omar Bakri Muhammad said if his son, who was sitting on his father's knee during the interview, grew up and killed a soldier he would be 'happy'.

Adebolajo attended and spoke at the radical group Al-Muhajiroun's demonstrations after joining the group in 2003. He also changed his name to Mujahid, meaning ‘one who engages in jihad’.

Over the following years he cropped up again and again at Islamist events.

Channel 4 News reports Omar Bakri Muhammad, the former leader of Al-Muhajiroun, said he was proud of the killer,

He said that Adebolajo, 29, was a 'quiet, shy person' looking for answers.

Muhammad said he did not feel sympathy for Lee Rigby and was 'proud' of what Adebolajo did.

The interview provoked criticism from people on Twitter who said Channel 4 should not be giving the preacher 'oxygen'.

Former MP Tony McNulty said: 'C4 interview with Omar Bakri Mohammed just disgraceful - why give this idiot any oxygen of publicity at all - total puff interview. Woeful.'

The journalist who recorded the interview, Paraic O'Brien, replied: 'Disagree. His inability to engage with LeeRigby as a human/Dad told us lots about the radical mindset.'

As Adebolajo was convicted of murder, he refused to show any remorse.

During the trial, he told Lee Rigby’s family how he will never regret killing the fusilier because he is a ‘soldier of Allah’.

TV Program on Feminist Critical of Islam Scrapped under Pressure

Taslima Nasreen is a brave feminist who speaks against gender apartheid in Islam. Muslims targeted her and protested against her for her brave writings (ie this column of the burka.) Screen Shot 2013-12-20 at 1.09.26 AMShe has been fighting for women's rights under Islam for years.

Muslim organizations in India and Bangladesh issued several fatwas against Taslima Nasreen, and demanded her execution by hanging for hurting religious sentiments. And where are her phony feminist sisters in the West? Licking the boots of Islamic supremacists.

She is an extremely courageous woman who has struck out at Islamic fanatics and mullahs whose sole passion in life is to come up with the most perverse interpretations of the Quran so that they can live out their dark fantasies born of obscurantism and twisted notions of patriarchy. Ms Nasreen gave up her profession as a qualified physician to take on radical Islamists who had begun to gather strength under the tutelage of Bangladesh Nationalist Party

Everyone is caving. Anyone that speaks against this savagery is a target for demonization, marginlization, elimination. And the world stands in solidarity with these misogynist misanthropes.

Muslims use Litigation Jihad creating 'spiral of silence' in Europe

The objective is the same the world over - to impose vicious blasphemy laws under the sharia. Do not discuss Islam is not to praise or submit to it.

In the West, Islamic supremacists use freedom of speech to kill freedom of speech. The largest world body - the Muslim organization the OIC (56 Muslim countries plus the "Palestinian" territories) seeks to impose these blasphemy laws across the world using the UN as their club.

Here in the United States Muslim Brotherhood terror tied groups use lawsuits and defamation to silence truth tellers and counter jihadists. These tactis are being used in Europe to great success in the islamization of Europe.

Islamists take lawfare to Europe creating 'spiral of silence' Blazing Cat Fur

Thilo Sarrazin

A discussion paper ( German and English) published by the Germany-based Gustav Stresemann Foundation—a think tank dedicated to the preservation and advancement of liberal democracy in Europe—warns that national and international Islamic organizations are increasingly putting pressure on Western politicians gradually to criminalize any critique of Islam.

The author of the report, the German political scientist Felix Strüning, provides a meticulously detailed analysis of the Islamic lobbying effort—by means of a "human rights lawsuit"—to silence Thilo Sarrazin, a prominent German banker who has criticized the refusal of Muslim immigrants to integrate into German society.

During an October 2009 interview with the Berlin-based culture magazine Lettre International, Sarrazin said:

“A large number of Arabs and Turks in this city […] have no productive function except for the fruit and vegetable trade [...] The proportion of births among Arabs and Turks is two to three times higher than their corresponding proportion of the population. Large parts [of this population] are neither willing to integrate nor capable of integrating. The solution to this problem can only be to stop letting people in […] except for highly qualified individuals and not provide social welfare for immigrants anymore […].”

“Integration is an effort of people who integrate themselves. I do not have to accept someone who does nothing. I do not have to accept anyone who lives from the state, rejects this state, does not reasonably provide education for his children and constantly produces new little girls in headscarves. This applies to 70% of the Turkish and 90% of the Arab population in Berlin. Many of them do not want integration.”

The Turkish Union in Berlin-Brandenburg (Türkischer Bund Berlin-Brandenburg, TBB) responded by pressing criminal charges against Sarrazin due to alleged incitement-to-hatred (Volksverhetzung). However, German prosecutors concluded that Sarrazin's statements were protected by the freedom of expression and they ceased their investigation.

The TBB then took its lawsuit to the United Nations Committee on the Elimination of Racial Discrimination (CERD), which was tasked with determining whether Sarrazin's statements violated the International Convention on the Elimination of Racial Discrimination (ICERD).

In February 2013, CERD decided that Sarrazin's statements “contain ideas of racial superiority, denying respect as human beings and depicting generalized negative characteristics of the Turkish population.”

CERD also stated that Sarrazin's statements were “incitement to racial discrimination” because he favors refusing social welfare benefits for Turks and would (with the exception of highly qualified individuals) generally prohibit immigration.

Devout Muslim Murderer of British Soldier on London Street Kisses Quran Following Guilty Verdict

And still the misunderstander of Islam who brutally hacked a British soldier to death on a London street in broad daylight is misunderstanding Islam and making love to his quran.

"UK: Jihad murderer of British soldier on London street smiles and kisses Qur'an as he is led from court" (thanks to Robert Spencer)

Drummer-Lee-Rigby-murder--010.jpg

Muslim groups in the UK condemn the murder. That's great. But are they teaching in the mosques against the understanding of Islam that led to the murder?

"2 men found guilty of UK soldier murder," by Jill Lawless for the Associated Press, December 19 (thanks to Steve):

LONDON — Two British-born, al-Qaida-inspired extremists who considered themselves "soldiers of Allah" were convicted Thursday of murdering an off-duty serviceman who was run down with a car and stabbed to death in a frenzied attack on a London street.

The jury of eight women and four men deliberated for just 90 minutes before finding Michael Adebolajo and Michael Adebowale guilty of murdering Fusilier Lee Rigby. They were acquitted of attempting to murder a police officer.

The two men will be sentenced early next year.

Neither defendant reacted as the jury foreman announced the verdicts. Adebolajo, at 29 the elder of the two, smiled and kissed a copy of the Quran as he was led down to the cells....

MI5 could have prevented jihad beheading of Lee Rigby: "there were no controls on his movements or activities when he was returned from Kenya where he had been caught trying to join Islamic terror group."

There is a terrible pattern emerging in Western nations. Fear of Islamic terror and Muslim backlash has crippled our ability to fight our mortal enemies.

New information reveals massive intel failures, the likes of which were exposed in the Boston marathon bombing. There were plenty of warnings from foreign countries about the Tsarnaev jihadis, as well as red flags concerning their extremist mosque in Boston. But the FBI did nothing. No surveillance, no mosque monitoring. Nothing. And in this case of the jihad beheaders in London, the M15 too did nothing. But they banned Spencer and me, in that they were most aggressive. But they were derelict in their real duty of protecting and defending the people of Britian. It would seem pretty elemental that banning those who speak against jihad is not going to stop jihad. I mean, really. The problem is jihad, the problem isn't speaking against jihad. Five and half years after the London bus bombings and this is where these quislings are?

"MI5 was still in contact with devout Muslim Mujahid Abu Hamza nee Michael Adebolajo just months before he murdered soldier Lee Rigby. The Telegraph disclosed "there were no controls on his movements or activities when he was returned from Kenya in 2010 where he had been caught trying to join the al-Shabaab terror group."

MI5 was still in contact with Islamist fanatic Michael Adebolajo just months before he murdered soldier Lee Rigby, it has been claimed.

The Telegraph can also disclose there were no controls on his movements or activities when he was returned from Kenya in 2010 where he had been caught trying to join the al-Shabaab terror group.

Adebolajo said members of the Security Service were contacting him “earlier this year” in the hope of turning him into an informant, according to sources close to his defence team.

The revelations pile pressure on the spy agency over exactly what it knew of Adebolajo and how much contact it had with him prior to the outrage.

It also raises questions about whether the security services could have done more to spot the growing threat that Adebolajo and Adebowale posed.

However the truth may never been known because a report by the parliamentary body examining MI5 dealings with him is expected to be redacted when it is published next year.

The men have been found guilty of murdering Drummer Lee Rigby in Woolwich in May this year after running him over with a car and hacking him to death.

Keith Vaz, chairman of the Commons home affairs select committee, said: “There are questions to be answered.

“I am very concerned about this whole issue of people who go from out country whether to be involved in political or, in some cases, terrorist activities and what seems to be some kind of obligation on the British authorities to bring them back to our country against their wishes.

“In this case it may be that the reason the security service wanted him back was because they wanted to elicit information from him that would be helpful to them

“If that was the case, they should be open and transparent to us. There are a number of questions.”

Adebolajo had been known to MI5 for at least eight years when he butchered Fusilier Rigby in the street.

It is understood he had featured in a number of previous investigations over the years but none had involved attack planning and he was deemed a low risk.
He was a regular member of a small group of hardcore fanatics closely linked to the extremist preacher Anjem Choudary - the former leader of banned radical group al–Muhajiroun.

Adebolajo regularly attended meetings and demonstrations held by his group and successor organisations.

In 2006 he was arrested outside the Old Bailey during violent scenes as Islamic fanatics protested over the trial of a man accused of soliciting murder during a previous demonstration against Danish cartoons of the Prophet Mohammed.

In early 2008 he spent more than 50 days in custody on remand for assault.

His activities became more serious in 2010 when the Kenya authorities seized him, along with a group of other youths, trying to cross the border in to Somalia.

It is believed he wanted to join the Somali terror group al-Shabaab.

He appeared in court but was not charged and returned home.
Michael Adebolajo (2nd R) in a court in the Kenyan coastal town of Mombasa in 2010 (AFP)

The circumstances of his return remain unclear but Kenyan officials have claimed the British authorities treated the case “very lightly” and did not take his threat seriously enough.

His Kenyan lawyer at the time, Wycliffe Makasembo, has claimed his was freed on the recommendation of the British High Commission and avoided a formal deportation.

It raises the question as to why Adebolajo was not under greater surveillance or even prosecuted in this country.

Adebolajo told the Old Bailey there was “more to the story” but did not elaborate.

Under the Terrorism Act 2006, it is an offence to travel or intend to travel overseas to commit acts of terrorism or take part in terror training.

A number of Britons have already been convicted of similar offences including the white Muslim convert Richard Dart and his co-defendants, earlier this year.

They admitted planning travelling to Pakistan to try and obtain terror training and had discussed attacking the military-supporting town of Wootton Bassett.
Equally, Adebolajo could have had his movements restricted through the imposition of a control order/Tpim but one was never applied for.

In 2011, terror suspect Mohammed Ahmed Mohamed was placed under a control order after being held in Somaliland on suspicion of having fought with al–Shabaab in Somalia and of recruiting other British men to join them.

It is understood, that Adebolajo was instead approached by MI5 following his return from Kenya either to see what intelligence they could glean from him or to see if he would spy on other militants.

Relatives have claimed they were also approached, including his brother Jeremiah who said he was contacted by MI6.

Following his arrest after the murder of Mr Rigby, Adebolajo told police to ask MI5 for his home address because “they had visited me there earlier this year”.

But despite that he continued with his extremist preaching and was seen shouting anti–Western rhetoric in Woolwich as recently as a week before the murder.

At the request of David Cameron, the Prime Minister, the Intelligence and Security Committee is examining MI5’s dealings with the pair.

But it will not report until next year and more sensitive parts of the findings are likely to be kept out of the public domain.

In his first public speech earlier this year, Andrew Parker, appeared to pre-empt any criticism over whether the Woolwich attack could have been foreseen.
Speaking in general terms, he said: “There is the difference between knowing of someone and knowing everything about them.

“Knowing of an individual does not equate to knowing everything about them. Being on our radar does not necessarily mean being under our microscope.
“The reality of intelligence work in practice is that we only focus the most intense intrusive attention on a small number of cases at any one time.”

British Muslims found GUILTY of jihad murder of British soldier on London street

The devout Muslims who beheaded a young British soldier in a bloody, frenzied attack in broad daylight on a public street outside of London have been found guilty. It took the jury 90 minutes to convict the two British muslims "who considered themselves 'soldiers of Allah.'"

One witness described the attack, which took place on a busy street near a primary school, as looking "like a butcher attacking a joint of meat." [halal slaughter]

Mujahid Abu Hamza, nee Michael Adebolajo, was filmed by a passer-by moments after the attack, covered in blood and holding a cleaver and a knife, justifying the killing as jihad.

The savagery of the crime, Adebolajo's bloodthirsty rhetoric - delivered in a London accent - and the ordinary working-day surroundings all helped make the killing a crime that inflamed fears of Islamic extremist terrorism in Britain.

The AP describes the crime as "savage." So they must be racist-islamophobic-anti-Muslim-bigots as well.

Savagead

It was followed by a spate of attacks on mosques and Islamic centers, and by protests from far-right groups.

Actually, it was not. AP is advancing the Muslim myth of faked hate. In the wake of the London beheading, false reports were filed by Islamic supremacists. These reports were widely debunked. The false accusations were so egregious, in fact, that Muslim groups like Fiyaz Mughal's Tell Mama (a group dedicated to tracking “Islamophobia”) lost its government funding after making false claims of waves of “Islamophobic incidents.”

Pamela Geller, The Jerusalem Post: The Academic Boycott and the Failure of the American Jewish Diaspora

Read my column today in The Jerusalem Post.

Just as the sniveling American Jewish diaspora failed the Jews of Europe, we Bergson adagain witness these swashbucking cowards failing the Jews of the 21st century.

The above 3/4-page ad appeared in the New York Times in 1943. The ad was placed by the Committee for a Jewish Army of Stateless and Palestinian Jews (CJA), a pressure group founded by Peter Bergson, Broadway impresario Billy Rose, and Ben Hecht, among others, and was in response to an offer that had been made to the Allies by upper-echelon members of the Romanian government to assist in the transfer of some 70,000 Jews from their fascist state to Palestine or elsewhere.

CJA was denounced by mainstream Jewish organizations as alarmist, unethical, and overly militant.

Much the way my work, in particular my savage ads, were denounced by American Jewish leaders. Inaction, submission and cowardice. History repeats itself.

"The Academic Boycott and the Failure of the American Jewish Diaspora," By Pamela Geller, The Jerusalem Post

Latest boycott should be a grim wake-up call for those swashbuckling Jewish philanthropists who give over their wealth to colleges and universities.

The venerable American Studies Association (ASA) announced Monday that it would boycott Israeli universities and academic institutions. This is a coup for the BDS movement, as the ASA has 5,000 members and calls itself “the nation’s oldest and largest association devoted to the interdisciplinary study of American culture and history.” It is also another sign of the failure of the American Jewish diaspora.

Jewish philanthropy to universities is massive. According to the Institute for Jewish & Community Research, 42% of mega-gifts in Jewish philanthropy go to private and public higher education. Learning, scholarship and education are Jewish values paramount above all else, reflected in the Jewish contributions to medicine, science, and technology, and the sheer number of Jewish Nobel Prize winners (in comparison to the tiny number of Jews worldwide). For the American Studies Association to boycott Israeli universities and academic institutions is like holding a chocolate fair and banning chocolate.

The Syria mess is Obama’s doing

The ASA declared in a statement: “The resolution is in solidarity with scholars and students deprived of their academic freedom and it aspires to enlarge that freedom for all, including Palestinians. The ASA’s endorsement of the academic boycott emerges from the context of U.S. military and other support for Israel; Israel’s violation of international law and UN resolutions; the documented impact of the Israeli occupation on Palestinian scholars and students; the extent to which Israeli institutions of higher education are a party to state policies that violate human rights; and finally, the support of such a resolution by a majority of ASA members.”

If the resolution were in solidarity with scholars and students deprived of their academic freedom, then it would oppose these academic boycotts of Jewish scholars and academics. The ASA’s condemnation of U.S. military and other support for Israel exposes its vicious agenda. U.S. military and other support of Israel is an impediment to the annihilation of Israel. This boycott mimics the Nazi purge of academics and scientists.

Israel has not violated international law or UN resolutions, and if these so-called academics had even a rudimentary knowledge of history -- the San Remo resolution, Balfour, the White Paper, and Islamic Jew-hatred -- they would apologize and retreat with their heads hung in shame. The ASA ought to issue a resolution that Islamic anti-Semitism is a violation of human rights, and that calls for a Jew-free “Palestine” are a human rights violation, and the repeated “Palestinian” calls for the destruction of Israel are a monstrous human rights violation.

This boycott should also be a grim wake-up call for those swashbuckling Jewish philanthropists who give over their wealth to colleges and universities -- families like Tisch, Stern, Steinhard, Silver, Kimmel, Wasserman, Levy. What is their legacy? They have built the structures and the machinery that are serving the agenda of the annihilationists and Goebbels-inspired hate propaganda.

Yet even Jewish students are being taken in by this machinery. Philly.com reported last Saturday that “Jewish students at Swarthmore College have become the first in the nation to break with the global student association Hillel and agree to open their doors to groups and speakers who do not support Israel.”

This is more of liberal Jews’ pernicious influence on the next generation of self-hating Jews. As if the Jewish people didn't have enough enemies, reckless and godless Jews are giving birth to our enemies. Clearly, these Jewish kids lack Jewish education and are sorely lacking in truth and history.

These little dupes don’t want to work with the non-partisan AIPAC because they said it “didn't seem to be the way to build the diverse political community that we wanted,” according to Swarthmore student Joshua Wolfsun. Genocide and Jew-hatred are now under the aegis of “diversity.”

Where are the calls from Muslim students for speakers at Muslim Students Association meetings who will speak in support of Israel and against jihad, clitoridectomies and honor violence?

All too many Jewish leaders are more concerned about making sure that Jews don’t speak out too strongly for freedom. In the summer of 2012, I was scheduled to speak for the Zionist Organization of America in Los Angeles – until the Jewish Federation, where the event was scheduled, caved in to the demands of the Hamas-linked Muslim Brotherhood front group the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR).

And last April, wealthy liberal Jews at the behest of Islamic supremacists managed to intimidate the Great Neck Synagogue on Long Island into canceling a scheduled talk by me (I spoke to an SRO crowd at Chabad Great Neck instead). The Jewish Week, instead of supporting free speech and my message of freedom, ran an op-ed by two vicious leftist reformed rabbis who aligned with the Islamic supremacists in their jihad to shut down my talk. In a shocking violation of their spiritual obligations as clerics, Rabbis Michael White and Jerome Davidson defamed my work and me, while falsely claiming that I was “defaming fellow Americans of a different Abrahamic religion.” They have obviously never read my work — my columns or my books. They falsely accused me of hate speech and had the chutzpah to invoke Jewish teachings.

When did these rabbis ever show the same indignation they are showed about my talk when leaders of groups linked to Hamas and the Muslim Brotherhood, and even the convicted murderers of Jewish children, have spoken on college campuses and at mosques in the United States? No wonder Jewish students on college campuses nationwide are so confused.
White and Davidson are cut from the same cloth as the Toronto Board of Rabbis, which issued a statement last June expressing that “profound disappointment” with the Jewish group that brought me to Toronto to speak. In condemning me, they didn’t cite one quote from me: not one. I have written two books, hundreds of articles, and nearly 30,000 blog posts, and they couldn’t find one quote. But they will give chum to the sharks by pitting Jew against Jew. It is the mission of the yehudim to speak the truth. Yet those traitorous quislings attacked a fellow Jew who is working in defense of the freedom of speech, the freedom of conscience, and individual rights.

Their loyalty to the Jewish people resembles that of Jacob Bender, the Jew who heads up the Philadelphia office of Hamas-tied CAIR. Jews of the American diaspora like Bender and Rabbis White and Davidson (as well as their friends to the north of the Toronto Board of Rabbis), by validating the narrative of the enemies of the Jews, have paved the way for the ASA’s academic boycott of Israel. They have done their work well.

Wiesel's Warning

I guess Obama won't be making any phony joint appearances at Buchenwald with Elie Wiesel, now that the little Jew is no longer shilling for Rouhani's stooge in the White House. Obama's atrocious surrender to Iran in Geneva is a catastrophic failure of historic proportions.

Elie Wiesel Says ‘Iran Must Not Be Allowed to Remain Nuclear’ in Full Page Ads in NYT, WSJ

Elie Wiesels Warning

Editorial of The New York Sun | December 18, 2013

Congratulations are in order for Elie Wisel for his advertisement calling on Congress to strengthen sanctions on Iran. The ad doesnt go as far as the Sun would go, in that it wants President Obama and Congress to demand as a condition of continued talks the total dismantling of Irans nuclear infrastructure and the regimes public and complete repudiation of all genocidal intent against Israel. We oppose negotiations with the mullahs outright, preferring instead a strategic aim of regime change and democratization. But the statement by Mr. Wiesel, and the highly public way in which he is making it, are newsworthy. Mr. Wiesel is a towering figure. He emerges as the first of those who have befriended our Democratic presidents to break with Mr. Obama over the Presidents agreement in principle with the mullahs.

The full text of the ad is posted below:

Iran Must Not Be Allowed to Remain Nuclear

If there is one lesson I hope the world has learned from the past it is that regimes rooted in brutality must never be trusted. And the words and actions of the leadership of Iran leave no doubt as to their intentions.

Should the civilized nations of the world trust a regime whose supreme leader said yet again last month that Israel is “doomed to annihilation,” and referred to my fellow Jewish Zionists as “rabid dogs?”

Should we who believe in human rights, trust a regime which in the 21st century stones women and hangs homosexuals?

Should we who believe in freedom trust a regime which murdered its own citizens in the streets of Tehran when the people protested a stolen election in the Green Revolution of Summer, 2009?

Should we who believe in the United States trust a regime whose parliament last month erupted in “Death to America” chants as they commemorated the 34th anniversary of the storming of our Embassy in Tehran?

Should we who believe in life trust a regime whom our own State Department lists as one of the world’s foremost sponsors of terrorism?

America, too, defines itself by its words and actions. America adopted me, as it did so many others, and gave me a home after my people were exterminated in the camps of Europe. And from the time of the founding fathers America has always stood up to tyrants. Our nation is morally compromised when it contemplates allowing a country calling for the destruction of the State of Israel to remain within reach of nuclear weapons.

Sanctions have come at a terrible economic cost for the people of Iran. But, unfortunately, sanctions are what have brought the Iranian regime to the negotiating table.

I appeal to President Obama and Congress to demand, as a condition of continued talks, the total dismantling of Iran’s nuclear infrastructure and the regime’s public and complete repudiation of all genocidal intent against Israel. And I appeal to the leaders of the United States Senate to go forward with their vote to strengthen sanctions against Iran until these conditions have been met.

I once wrote that history has taught us to trust the threats of our enemies more than the promises of our friends. Our enemies are making serious threats. It is time to take them seriously. It is time for our friends to keep their promises.
