Sometimes, Feeling God is Feeling Pain
Genesis 8:13 – And it came to pass in the six hundred and first year, in the first month, the first day of the month, that the waters were dried up from the earth; and Noah removed the covering of the ark and looked, and indeed the surface of the ground was dry.
It’s time to get out of the boat and do the hard work the Lord planned for you long ago (Eph 2:10). It’s good work, but it will not be easy because better is never easier. Yes, the ground is dry and hearts this day are parched. Break up this fertile soil with the word. Water it with kindness. Love God and people as you plant seeds of faith and salvation today.
Declaration: I want a harvest for the Lord. I will plow and plant so the Vinedresser can reap a harvest 100 fold.
SOMETIMES, FEELING GOD IS FEELING PAINThere is only one way to make a difference in someone’s life: to have compassion on them (Jude 1:22). The only way to have compassion on someone is to get involved in their world and to see them the way Father God sees them.
Many times, it takes pain for us to have compassion. Take for instance the witch I met on my first mission trip to Costa Rica. I was with two local boys who had been saved and baptized the night before we trekked into the jungle in search of this notorious spiritualist.
Roseanne was the real deal. For a fee, she would read your fortune, give you a message from beyond the grave or pronounce a curse on your enemy. As we got closer to her hut, my spirit bowed up. I knew there was going to be a showdown. One of the boys with me called out to announce our arrival, but Roseanne yelled through the jungle that she didn’t know him and he had to leave.
“She’s known me all my life,” he said, confused. I told him she didn’t recognize him anymore because the Holy Spirit now lived in him.
Roseanne was a pitiful creature. She never called the devil by name. Instead, she referred to him as “my lover” and said that on a full moon, he would visit her bedroom with “distorted music.” It turns out, she was tormented and bound in a way I couldn’t imagine. I saw a woman so lonely and self-loathing, she’d voluntarily taken up company with a demonic spirit! I began to see her as the Lord sees her. He wanted to help her. I was filled with compassion and I felt her pain.
I told her God loved her and wanted to help her, but she said it was not true. She said, “He has never seen me.”
Then out of my Spirit, I said, “That’s not true. He saw you when you were a little girl and your father molested you. Jesus cried when you cried.” I began to tell her the Lord didn’t accuse her–that she was blameless. I told her God had always been there, but the devil had tricked her into thinking God didn’t love her.
She said she knew the devil was a liar, but feared he would kill her if she humbled herself to Jesus. We told her the truth–the devil is a defeated wimp–and before long, she was on her knees alongside us, lifting her hands to the Lord as she received Jesus.
What touched her heart? The fact that Jesus knew her pain. Sometimes, feeling what God feels means feeling something very painful. Sometimes, it means getting acquainted with grief. Roseanne’s pain was tremendous, but her joy at salvation was tremendous as well.
“Draw near to God and He will draw near to you. Lament and mourn and weep! Let your laughter be turned to mourning and your joy to gloom. Humble yourself in the sight of the Lord, and He will lift you up.” – James 4:8-10
It’s good to let God take you to places that don’t feel good, especially when it produces a harvest of souls.

Better Than a Miracle
Amos 8:12 – They shall wander from sea to sea, and from north to east; They shall run to and from, seeking the word of the Lord, but shall not find it.
We live in the age of information and knowledge, yet biblical truth is not commonly found. You have the Word of God and it’s crucial to meditate on it, memorize it and seek God through it. The day will come when Bibles will not be easily found. There are nations today where Bible apps do not work on phones. God warns us of the things to come not to scare us, but to prepare the body of Christ. Are you prepared?
Declaration: I will write the word of God upon my heart and set my mind on His truth.
BETTER THAN A MIRACLEToday, I want to hit a home run revelation into your part of the ballpark. If you’ve got your glove on, you could walk away with a new strategy for your spiritual game plan.
There is a balance that needs to be taught concerning miracles. As much as I love miracles, I understand that a miracle is a short-term solution to a long-term malfunction. Miracles only happen in the most desperate times and places.
If you are someone who needs a miracle, I certainly believe God has one for you and you should reach for it. The balance to that is this: I believe there is a better and more long-term way God wants you to prosper. Though miracles are powerful, they are not God’s best and His highest way of prospering His people. Read it again.
The children of Israel wandered in the desert for 40 years and witnessed a miracle every day as manna fell from Heaven. The day after they left the wilderness and entered the Promised Land, the miracle of manna ceased. Why?
They had entered in to a whole new set of rules and blessings. You see, there are two main ways the Lord prospers us. The first is “Miracles of Provision.” The second, and much better principle, is called “Seed, Time and Harvest.”
Know this: God wants you to prosper. He would just rather see you mature. Seed, Time and Harvest, aka “work and reward,” is the best way to do that. The alternative isn’t very pretty.
The only time you need a miracle is when your life, finances, marriage, job, health, or safety is a major malfunction. Don’t wait for a miracle. Get out of your mess by working for the reward.

Avoid the Curse: Be Thankful
Romans 8:11 – But if the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, He who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through His Spirit who dwells in you.
God never asks you to give or do anything without giving you the ability to do it. Jesus has dealt with the enemy, death itself. He has given us resurrection power to bring life to things the enemy tried to kill. The Holy Spirit empowers us to heal the sick, love the hated, bring truth to the deceived, and His salvation to the lost. Does Jesus live in You? Let Him out!
Declaration: I bring resurrection power to dead hopes and dreams. I steward the Spirit of God in me to family, friends and strangers alike.
AVOID THE CURSE: BE THANKFULWhen you are wading waist deep in defeat, it’s easy to say “no fair” when people who are more spiritually mature than you are walking in victory. That’s not a good place to be.
Every one of us has stood in a place where we looked at a situation or event and said in our head, “That’s not fair.” Here is a powerful truth to help you conquer that devilish line of thinking. Write this one down: You miss what God has for you when you want what somebody else has.
If you get upset when someone else prospers, you will never prosper. Jealousy and envy are thought patterns that will leave you miserable. It will also hurt others and tear the church apart. Get this: to be jealous or envious is a curse—yes, a curse!
I’ve had good friends I trusted try to cannibalize my ministry. They did all they could to destroy the church. Why? Because they wanted what I had–my relationships, outreach, supporters, ministry connections and my anointing. Not smart enough to seek God for their own vision, they wanted to steal mine!
Because I never once wanted what they had, it didn’t occur to me that hell was stirring jealousy and envy under their skin. It didn’t occur to me the very people I loved would look at the good things God was doing in my life and scream, “No fair! I want that!”
The next time you’re thinking, “That’s not fair,” maybe you should consider this:
It’s not fair you’re saved and going to Heaven because a lot of people who were smarter, more successful and just plain better than you, have gone to Hell.
• It’s not fair you have what you have, when people smarter than you have lost everything.• It’s not fair you’ve never experienced imprisonment, torture or starvation when 500 million people around the world live that life right now.• It’s not fair you sit in a cushioned pew free from harassment, arrest, torture and death. Three billion people around the world have to worship God in secret.• If you have food in your refrigerator, clothes in your closet, a bed to sleep on and money in your pocket, you have more than 75 percent of this world, and get this – It’s not fair! The answer to spiritual and physical envy? Focus on being grateful for the gifts and blessing you do have. They belong to you alone and are a gift from a good God who owes you nothing!

Heaven Applauds Mistakes, REALLY!
Nehemiah 8:10 – Then he said to them, “Go your way, eat the fat, drink the sweet, and send portions to those for whom nothing is prepared; for this day is holy to our Lord. Do not sorrow, for the joy of the Lord is your strength.”
Do you wear sorrow and pain as a badge of honor or holiness? If you do, you have been deceived. Though affliction is part of this life, it never brings glory to God. What makes Jesus famous is His people who overcome; His kids who walk through hurt, rejection and betrayal but do not stay in those places. Pain is only temporary. When you choose Him in pain, you will find purpose.
Declaration: I choose the joy of the Lord and garments of praise. Sorrow does not glorify God.
HEAVEN APPLAUDS MISTAKES, REALLY!Jesus commanded His followers to “make disciples of all the nations.” Yes, you’re to tell others about the greatness of Christ. In doing so, you go after your own greatness—your upgrade to the next level of Jesus Freak. Does God want this for you? You bet He does!
When you multiply the Kingdom, Heaven applauds. But what about when you blow it trying to bring a message of hope to a friend, or fail to be a winning witness to a co-worker? What happens when you mess up? Heaven applauds!
“…so is my word that goes out from my mouth: It will not return to me empty, but will accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it. You will go out in joy and be led forth in peace: the mountains and hills will burst into song before you, and all the trees of the field will clap their hands.” -Isaiah 55:12
Yes, Heaven applauds your effort because you are not charged with the results—God is! Now, the Devil will try to convince you of just the opposite. He will tell you that God is disappointed—that He is angry at your failure. Did I tell you Satan is the “father of lies” who stands at the throne accusing you day and night? God’s Word says he is.
When you’re afraid to mess up, you freeze up and refuse to move forward. If the enemy can convince you that you are going to get in bad trouble if you don’t do everything perfect, it’s a huge win for Hell.
The enemy wants you cowering in a corner afraid of the very one who loves you most—Father God. Satan wants to convince you that you are messed up so you might as well just give up. Be healed of that mess. Yes, healed! Those bloody stripes were to combat ALL the work of the Devil including his lies.
Know that God encourages and empowers you to continuously do great things when you know you are loved and He is pleased with you, just like He was pleased after each day of creation. Despite it, and you, being a work in progress, He says, “It is good!”

A Taste for Victory
Proverbs 8:9 – They are all plain to him who understands, and right to those who find knowledge.
So many complain, “The Bible is too hard to understand. It’s boring. It’s irrelevant.” It’s not if you have a desire to understand and hunger to know God. It’s not a book that you read. It reads your heart and exposes purpose you never knew about yourself. The Lord wants to reveal all these treasures to His kids, the ones who hunger and thirst for righteousness. Are you at His table?
Declaration: I live to know you Lord and walk in understanding of your truth. I thirst for righteousness
A TASTE FOR VICTORYSuccess breeds success. One victory leads to another. That’s why victory must become a lifestyle – aka: momentum. Brother Webster defines momentum like this:
The quantity of motion in a moving body, being always proportioned to the quantity of matter multiplied into the velocity; impetus. An impelling force of strength.Momentum starts with action. It needs an impetus or impelling force of strength to begin moving forward. That means you have a responsibility to act. You have to be intentional about upgrade.
Know this: progressive people get more progressive. Learned people get more power to learn. Generous people get more power to give, and loving people get more power to love. Awesome is the the power of momentum!
Whoever has will be given more, and he will have an abundance. Whoever does not have, even what he has will be taken from him. – Matthew 13:12
Never underestimate the power of momentum, especially in your walk with Christ. He hates mediocrity and designed you to chase after upgrade. So many in the church never understand this principle. But that’s not you!
TODAY IS A GOOD DAY TO TAKE A STEP TOWARD UPGRADE. EACH VICTORY LEADS TO ANOTHER AND YOUR MOMENTUM WILL MOVE YOU FORWARD!

Seek and Hide?
Matthew 8:8 – The centurion answered and said, “Lord, I am not worthy that You should come under my roof. But only speak a word, and my servant will be healed.”
Who are you? It’s a question many can’t answer. Authority comes from identity. When you understand He has clothed you in His garments, His armor, and you are seated with Him in heavenly places, you will access the divine authority He has given you. The centurion knew Jesus’ authority because he understood how authority works. You are mighty because the Lord lives in you and commands you to do greater things.
Declaration: I rise in the authority of Christ and walk with Him accomplishing all that He purposes.
SEEK AND HIDE?If you will get before God and get consecrated to pursue a certain thing, God will bless your pursuit. The Bible says the Lord had sought for someone to love Him with their whole heart. Enter David.
“…The Lord has sought for Himself a man after His own heart…” – 1 Samuel 13:14
That word “after” literally means “in pursuit of.” David was blessed not because he was a Marvel comic superhero, a Jedi master or because he learned more Scripture than anybody else. He was blessed because he was a man after God’s own heart. That’s powerful.
Kingdom power shows up in Kingdom pursuit. If you consider yourself someone who loves God, seek His heart. Seek His ways with passion! He has given you His thoughts and wishes in His word, the Bible.
Most people these days have one and that’s nice, but it truly is just a book until you open it and begin to immerse yourself in the very word of God. Read it. Study it. Memorize it. Write it down on scrap paper. Matthew makes it pretty plain:
“Ask and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you.” – Matthew 7:7
Seek Him then hide His word in your heart as David did. Not only did David know God’s word, he kept his commands, and in those times when he fell, David threw himself on the ground and admitted his sin. He begged forgiveness then got up and did the right thing. He repented and went on loving God in a crazy cool way.
God blesses pursuit, yes, but all the more so when you’re pursuing His kingdom. God’s word also tells us in Psalms 23 that goodness and mercy will follow us when we seek His heart.

Get Jesus into that Situation
Job 8:7 – Though your beginning was small, yet your latter end would increase abundantly.
Scripture is full of stories of underdogs; the smallest, weakest and least qualified for a job, yet the Lord brought victory and His purpose through them. Why did God use young Gideon, social reject Jephthah, or ordinary housewife Jael to deliver His people? Because He uses the small things to show just how big He is. No matter what failures you have experienced, He is not done with you. He has great plans for you. Get up again and bring your small self to His throne of grace. You don’t really gain life until you are willing to throw your own life down and cry out for His perfect will.
Declaration: I will not promote myself and my agenda. I will make Jesus famous.
GET JESUS INTO THAT SITUATIONHave you ever heard me say, “Serving is power because serving is demonstrating Jesus”? Well, I’m going to say it again today.
First, you get Jesus into any situation by serving Him in that situation. If you don’t learn anything else here today, that right there will change your life. We have to learn how to let certain things impact us.
The effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much. – James 5:16b
What does it mean when it says “effectual fervent?” It means passionate – you’re passionate because you’re taking it personal. You let things affect you and when you do this, you get Jesus into that situation.
You also have to determine how less than positive things affect you. For example, how your haters affect you is on you. It’s not on anybody else.
That’s been a hard lesson for me because I really want to win people over. Trust me, there’s a lot of people you just cannot win over so stop beating yourself up trying.
By the way, you’re fighting the wrong battle if you’re trying to win your haters over. Your job is not to get them to love you. Your job is to demonstrate the love of Jesus to them. When you do that, the results are not yours – they are the Lord’s.
Serve the Lord. Demonstrate Jesus and be passionate about it. You’ll have real power in your life to love those who hate you and to overcome the obstacles life throws at you. I guarantee it.

Jesus Loves Muslims
Song of Solomon 8:6 – Set me as a seal upon your heart, as a seal upon your arm; For love is as strong as death, Jealousy as cruel as the grave; Its flames are flames of fire, a most vehement flame.
God’s love is relentless, majestic and woos your heart to know Him more. It awakens you to treasures not yet discovered, and seals you with His passion, protection and goodness as His very own. It’s might seem odd that God Almighty would compare His love to death, but He does. The power of death is real. Everyone will face it. Just as a grave does not release its victims, God’s love will never let you go. The power of the Lord’s love will claim you forever.
Declaration: I surrender my soul, spirit and love to the Father’s perfect love. I do not fear death because I have eternal life through King Jesus.
JESUS LOVES MUSLIMSIt’s been a while since I told you a story, so today’s your lucky day. Years ago, Leanna and I were on our first missionary trip to Sierra Leone, Africa. To say it was a rugged place wouldn’t do it justice. This place was raw!
We had been in a mostly Muslim village run by “the Tiki Man” – a witch doctor I won over with a few selfies and some applause. We loved on those people and helped them. When it was time to leave, these people who had never taken a bath in their lives, climbed on our bus to take us to civilization and the airport.
When we got there, our bus driver actually ran over a woman in the street, which caused a huge mob to form. They not only pulled our driver off the bus and gave him a beat down, they were rocking the bus, shouting and threatening to push us over.
Not knowing what to do, I told Leanna, “I’m going to act like a crazy man, push my way off this bus and through the crowd. You get behind me and keep your head down!”
My bride, being way smarter than I am, said, “But Troy, Jesus is going to do something, isn’t He? He always does something for us when we need it.”
Duh! I completely forgot about Jesus. In the midst of the mess and madness, I put my hands in the air and shouted. “Father, in the name of Jesus, let the Prince of Peace be manifest here.” BOOM! The noise stopped and the people just walked away.
Our Muslim brothers and sisters were stunned into silence. Abdul, the guy who had been sitting on my knee for seven hours said, “We know Jesus, but we don’t know Him as the Prince of Peace. He is just a prophet.” So I said, “Abdul, why don’t I pray that you to know Him like I know Him?” Abdul said OK and I did.
Then Peter said, “Silver and gold I do not have, but what I do have I give you…” – Acts 3:6
Several days after I was home, the phone rang and it was Abdul. No joke! He had a dream where he was sitting under a tree reading the Koran when a man he didn’t know gave Him a Bible and told him, “Abdul, read this. It testifies of Me. I Am Jesus, your salvation.”
My friends, Abdul was calling me from church! Jesus showed up for him just like He showed up for me on that bus. Abdul gave his life to Jesus. He called me to see if he should take on a Christian name now that he knew the truth. I said, “He called you by name–Abdul. I’d keep it and tell everyone that Jesus loves Muslims.”
He does and so should you. Pray for their day of visitation so they will know that Jesus isn’t a prophet–He’s their salvation.

Who’s Your Daddy?
Romans 8:5 – For those who live according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh, but those who live according to the Spirit, the things of the Spirit.
Many are so busy building their own personal empire, they treat King Jesus like their personal sidekick. He is Lord of Lords and King of Kings and is worthy of all our time, attention and adoration. All empires eventually fall, but God’s Kingdom is everlasting. When you do all you can to build His Kingdom, you see His Spirit move through miracles and your life is never the same. Build His Kingdom.
Declaration: My life belongs to the Lord. I set my mind upon His Kingdom, not my own.
WHO’S YOUR DADDY?Most everybody has kids. Now, before you say, “But Pastor Troy, I’ve never been married,” let me tell you this: sons and daughters are not just biological. Sons and daughters are how you influence people. Hallelujah.
That’s part of your supernatural heritage–your bloodline. Your bloodline is not just natural. Your bloodline is also supernatural. Check out what brother Paul says about this:
“To Timothy, a true son in the faith.” – 1 Timothy 1:2
Paul saw Timothy as his son though he did not biologically father him. Somehow, Paul left his supernatural DNA on that boy’s thinking and Timothy was something else!
For you, maybe it’s that coworker or the young couple next door. Is there someone in your life who looks to you for spiritual advice? Maybe they look to you as an example? Sometimes, it may even be someone we had no idea was watching that closely.
It could be you are not the ‘parent’ but the child. Is there a more mature believer in your church who you look up to spiritually? We all have spiritual children and spiritual parents. The only blood relation is the blood of Christ. Jesus even said,
“For whoever does the will of My Father in heaven is My brother and sister and mother.” – Matthew 12:59
Christ also instructed us to pray, “Our’Father.” So, it really is a family affair. If you are a believer in Christ, we are family and of the same bloodline. We share the same spiritual DNA so you know the answer to this question: Who’s your daddy?

Say, “Amen!”
Genesis 8:4 – Then the ark rested in the seventh month, the seventeenth day of the month, on the mountains of Ararat.
After complete destruction and chaos, the ark found a resting place on the seventh month. Seven is not a lucky number. It’s a holy number that signifies God doing something by His Spirit alone. During a storm, we can only find rest in God’s Spirit. But He also marked it with His overcoming victory through the number seventeen. This number represents the promises of God to His people who overcome. Are you determined to be an overcomer?
Declaration: I will rest in the Lord. His victory is mine. I’m an overcomer.
SAY, “AMEN!”Your life is really a big deal and it needs to be lived well. God is trusting you to live the life He has paid for you to live. so don’t squander that gift.
There’s a big difference between an epic life and a nominal life. Epic means “heroic, majestic, impressively great.” Nominal means “existing in name only, very small.” What’s real is, it’s up to you if your walk with Jesus is epic or nominal.
It’s up to you–not anybody else–if you have the kind of walk with Jesus that provokes people to jealousy. They should see your blessed life and say, “What do they have that I don’t?”
On the flip side, you can also be the kind of Christian who causes people to hate Christianity. That’s not up to anybody else.
“Give, and it will be given to you: good measure, pressed down, shaken together, and running over will be put into your bosom. For with the same measure that you use, it will be measured back to you.” – Luke 6:38
This verse says it’s not up to God, it’s up to you to determine how much of the kingdom you get into your life. God has already said, “Yes,” and your job is to say, “Amen.” The Bible says the promises of God are “yes and amen.”
Amen means “let it be established” or “make this thing happen!” It’s a big deal to tell the Lord “Amen” and it comes with all kinds of blessings and upgrades that are, well, epic. Are you ready to shake the nominal? AMEN!
