PAYBACK DOESN’T WORK

TODAY’S PROPHETIC THOUGHT

Mercy triumphs over judgment! God’s triumphant justice is available for your life and the lives of others. Judge not, that ye be not judged Matthew 7:1.

HISTORICALLY SPEAKING, PAYBACK DOESN’T WORK

If you ever have reason to drive west of Utley, Texas, it is easy to pass the historical marker on the south side of FM 969. If you do stop, you’ll find very little information about what actually happened on that site where, 178 years ago, people lived and died.

It is a place where both dreams and nightmares came true – where it is easier to die than to live.

The Coleman family is one of the bravest families who settled the frontier. They lived on land awarded them by Stephen F. Austin, himself. Robert Coleman farmed and commanded the nearby fort. His wife, Elizabeth, worked hard beside him, raising up two sons and several daughters.

When Robert drown in the Brazos River in 1837, Elizabeth and the kids fought on in near isolation for two more years. It seemed the Coleman’s were going to make it. Then came Feb. 18, 1839.

Elizabeth was working in the garden when she saw a Comanche raiding party coming full gallop toward the house. She screamed to the kids, but her youngest, Tommy, 5, was too far away. She saw him snatched up by a Comanche rider before an arrow pierced her throat.

When all was said and done, Tommy had been kidnapped. Elizabeth and her oldest son, Albert, had been killed. The girls were found cowering under the bed. Neighbors near and far vowed revenge for the horrific act of savagery, and they would have it.

Is your blood boiling at the injustice? It should. But let me tell you the rest of the story.

You see, those Comanches were the few survivors of an Indian village on the San Saba River – innocents who had just been massacred by settlers led by John Henry Moore a few days earlier.

Is your blood boiling? Well, it should. But wait! There’s more.

You see, Moore was hunting Indians – any Indians – to retaliate for another frontier family mowed down. They died because some other settlers killed some natives and the cycle of death goes on and on.

The problem is, none of this had to happen! You see, revenge does not belong to us. The Bible says it squarely belongs to God. My mama taught me a long time ago not to take something that doesn’t belong to me. I’m reminding you to do the same.

Beloved, do not avenge yourselves, but rather give place to wrath; for it is written, “Vengeance is Mine, I will repay,” says the Lord.
– Romans 5:19

Vengeance is not, I repeat, NOT yours! It just plain ain’t! Revenge in my hands or yours is just plain ugly. It does more damage than good. It actually brings evil!

Revenge in God’s hands brings justice. Justice – what a beautiful word!

Forgive. Trust in the Lord to make things right in His way, which is higher than ours! The choice to let Him be the judge belongs to you and me. Choose justice!

TODAY IS A GOOD DAY TO FORGIVE THOSE WHO HAVE HURT YOU. VENGEANCE IN YOUR HANDS BRINGS A CYCLE OF EVIL. IN GOD’S HANDS, IT BRINGS JUSTICE, SO LET GO! VENGEANCE BELONGS TO THE LORD – NOT YOU AND I!

SAVOR GOD’S GOODNESS

TODAY’S PROPHETIC THOUGHT

This year is the year of impossibilities. Taste and see how God will deliver you from the adversity that has been haunting you for so long. The Lord and His goodness are setting you free. Congratulations, God is smiling at you.

SAVOR GOD’S GOODNESS

Like a fine, well aged wine, we need to learn to truly savor the complexity of God’s Word. Unfortunately, like wine, many times we’re so distracted by life, that we just swallow it for the sake of digesting.

It’s from learning from and appreciating our complex experience with God that we recognize His awesome goodness.

The Bible says in Psalm 34:8 “O taste and see that the LORD is good.” Not, “O consume and see that the LORD is good.” Let God show you His goodness through a lingering and ongoing personal experience with Him each time you read, hear or meditate on scripture.

Many of us limit our experience to church service or daily Bible reading. While both are good things, Kingdom learning is not cerebral. We don’t just learn about Jesus through books and teachings alone. We truly learn about Jesus through personal encounter.

Tasting is a personal experience. As you mature in your relationship with Christ, you will learn to explore and identify the complexities and layers His Word has to offer. Remember, His Word is the very essence of who He is. John 1:1 says that “In the beginning was the Word,” meaning before He became a six pound Jew named Jesus, He was known in Heaven as “The Word.”

That Word is complex and creative. God’s goodness is like that — like a fine wine we can still taste long after the party is over.

I will delight myself in Your statutes; I will not forget Your word. – Psalm 119:16

TODAY IS A GOOD DAY TO LINGER ON GOD’S WORD. HEAR HIM SPEAK AND EXPERIENCE HIM WITHOUT HURRY SO YOU CAN SAVOR HIM LONG AFTER YOUR ENCOUNTER IS OVER.

DEALING WITH DISAPPOINTMENT

TODAY’S PROPHETIC THOUGHT

God loves to see you bear the fruit of self-control. Decide early in the day to fill your mind with God’s Word. Consider what you are thinking about throughout the day so you can cast down any wrong thoughts. Filling your mind with God’s truth will begin to displace wrong thinking and you will find you are changing your actions!

DEALING WITH DISAPPOINTMENT

Ever found yourself throwing a fit or losing it when things you planned are not as successful as you had hoped? I have, and like me, you need to let the Word of God deal with you concerning how you deal with life’s disappointments.

Seriously pray for God to give you an anointing for mercy in stressful situations because losing it and bad mouthing others are surefire ways to let the devil have your witness.

When thoughts turn to anger, blame, excuses, slander (false witness), envy or infighting, we lose control. There is a reason the nine Fruit of the Spirit begins with love and ends with self-control. Our thoughts are to be loving and controlled so that ungodly mindsets will be disposed of.

Instead of losing your mind, stand! Make a clear and definitive stand in your thinking so you will have a mind that glorifies and belongs to the Lord in every way.

Remember, your brain has teeth. If you do not command, restrain and control it, it will chew your life – and your testimony of Christ – to pieces. You can forget about fighting the devil or overcoming the world until you get real about dealing with the three pounds of flesh between your ears.

It is time for you, as a Christ follower, to take back your God-given mental turf with clear strategies from the Word.

We are to “take every thought captive” and to “have the mind of Christ.” When ungodly thoughts creep in, kick them out in the name of Jesus. Purpose to think of something good, or do what I do, change the mental channel by singing praises.

I want to encourage you to not let yourself lose your mind when things don’t go the way you planned. The collateral damage of lost relationships and a compromised testimony are devastating to the Kingdom.

For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds, casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ…
– 2 Corinthians 10:4-5

TODAY IS A GOOD DAY TO LEARN HOW TO TAKE YOUR THOUGHTS CAPTIVE BEFORE THEY BECOME ACTIONS. PRACTICE LOVE AND SELF CONTROL SO YOU WILL HAVE A HARVEST OF FRUIT FOR THE KINGDOM.

WHERE IS YOUR ARMOR?

TODAY’S PROPHETIC THOUGHT

When the devil comes to battle, be armed and ready to go. Be prepared and armored up with Scripture. He can’t stand the truth!

YOU SHOULD HAVE ARMED YOURSELF!

There is a great scene in the famous movie “Unforgiven” where the bad guy, Clint Eastwood, walks right into a bar where a posse is being formed to chase him down. Stunned, everyone gets quiet while he groans out a simple question.

“Who owns this bar?”

A man named Skinny says he bought it from a man named Greeley for $1,000. With that, the bad guy pulls the trigger on his shotgun and drops Skinny like a rock.

The outraged sheriff huffs, “Sir, you just killed an unarmed man!”

Eastwood’s matter-of-fact reply? “Well, he should have armed himself.”

That is exactly the devil’s attitude when it comes to your thought life. If you refuse to arm yourself, the murderous father of lies will be more than happy to gun your down. You can cry foul all you want, but know this: it is your job to arm yourself against his attacks.

For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds, casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ. – 1 Corinthians 10:4-5

If you are not prepared to win the battle for your mind, the devil will devour you.

Not me! If the devil wants me, he’d better bring a bigger gun. I’m prepared to fight for my mental turf. I’m serious about the spiritual battle going on in my thoughts. I am prepared to take each thought captive. Are you?

Cast down dark imaginations – the false conversations you have in your head when you are mad at someone, rehearsing what you should have said in an argument, or making a plan to manipulate someone to get your way. What you don’t realize when you do that, is that you are really talking to snakes!

The Bible tells us God’s enemy is a snake, and he’s looking to poison your thoughts, relationships and witness. Be prepared! Take each word you think captive before it comes out of your mouth. See if it is from God. Cast down those which are not and stand your ground. The devil hates that!

TODAY IS A GOOD DAY TO MAKE THE DEVIL MAD. TAKE CONTROL OF YOUR THOUGHT LIFE AND CAST DOWN EVIL IMAGINATIONS. YOU DON’T TALK TO SNAKES!

ARE YOU PREPARED?

TODAY’S PROPHETIC THOUGHT

God is preparing you to take the next step toward your upgrade. As He reveals it, don’t let the enemy keep you stuck. Be bold and courageous in your plans. You have the mind of Christ!

EQUIPPING FOR THE JOURNEY TO UPGRADE

When we think of the Spirit of St. Louis, we generally think of Charles Lindbergh’s airplane, which is hanging in the Smithsonian Institute. Actually, that airplane was named after a group of people from Missouri who prepared pioneers for their journey west into the unknown.

If you were adventurous enough to head out west, St. Louis was the place you went to get equipped, both mentally and physically. The journey was tedious, treacherous and trying. Because of this, it was only doable with the right preparation.

So it is with your journey to the next level of God’s plan for your life. You want to make sure your bags are packed correctly. Why?

Because if you are going to move forward to get your upgrade, you must become skilled at achieving goals. Yes, I pray for, meditate on and pursue supernatural skill sets for getting things done. This is done in four steps.

1) Set achievable goals. This is all about vision. Talk to the Holy Spirit about this.

2) Put together a strategy and a plan. This is all about getting wise counsel, doing your research and being teachable. If you’re not teachable, you’re in trouble.

3) Take action. This is all about courage. Again, talk to the Holy Spirit about this.

4) Review and stay on track. This is all about meditation and contemplation. Think God thoughts, practice stillness and go after peace as you consider what works, what needs a tweak and what needs thrown out.

I can tell you from personal experience, if you were to take these four steps seriously, you will become very skilled at achieving goals. This makes you a world changer!

Do you want to be a world changer? Do you want to find your life’s purpose and bring the Kingdom of heaven to earth? Get some oil for your lamp!

Then the kingdom of heaven shall be likened to ten virgins who took their lamps and went out to meet the bridegroom. Now five of them were wise, and five were foolish. Those who were foolish took their lamps and took no oil with them, but the wise took oil in their vessels with their lamps. – Matthew 25:1-4

TODAY IS A GOOD DAY TO WRITE DOWN THESE FOUR STEPS. BEGIN YOUR JOURNEY OF TAKING ON HELL WITH A WATER PISTOL BY PREPPING FOR THE ROAD AHEAD. YOU WILL ACCOMPLISH MUCH!

JOIN THE FIGHT

TODAY’S PROPHETIC THOUGHT

God is in you here and now. It’s time to go out into your sphere of influence and take Jesus to those you come into contact with. As you go, remember that God’s goodness is within you to touch their hearts.

JOIN THE FIGHT

I love being the good guy. I really do. I like taking the Gospel to prison to people everyone wants to forget. I like freeing little girls from the horrors of sex trafficking and letting them know nobody is ever going to hurt them again.

No trash dump, slum or ghetto is too disgusting or ugly for me. Why? Because I carry the weapon of God’s goodness wherever I go, and I know that good overcomes evil.

We are not afraid of darkness because it is inferior to the light within us. At first, the work of light and goodness is always in the midst of a huge mess. But here’s the good news. That means Christ is in the midst of us!

For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them. – Matthew 18:20

And you shall know that I am in the midst of Israel, and that I am the LORD your God, and none other; and my people shall never be ashamed. – Joel 2:27

For I, says the LORD, will be unto her a wall of fire round about, and will be the glory in the midst of her. – Zechariah 2:5

So there Jesus is, in the midst of the mess called you and I. And there we go as His people into the ditches of this world with the mandate and the mission to change things.

TODAY IS A GOOD DAY TO GRASP YOUR MANDATE AND MISSION TO SPREAD GOODNESS ACROSS THIS WORLD. DON’T WAIT FOR A MISSION TRIP. GET DIRTY FOR GOD’S GOODNESS IN YOUR HOME, SCHOOL, WORKPLACE, NEIGHBORHOOD OR CITY.

DON’T GIVE UP PRAYING

TODAY’S PROPHETIC THOUGHT

Pray for your children not as the world views them, but as the Lord views them. The Lord has plans for all of His children that are beyond measure. Start praying for your children’s destiny to manifest. Give thanks and praise for it, and watch the transformation begin.

“MY KIDS WILL NEVER GET SAVED”

If you live with the fear that your children will never get saved, you have listened to a lie from the pit of hell.

Read the following scripture and be comforted:

But now listen, Jacob, my servant, Israel, whom I have chosen. This is what the Lord says—he who made you, who formed you in the womb, and who will help you: Do not be afraid, Jacob, my servant, Jeshurun, whom I have chosen. For I will pour water on the thirsty land, and streams on the dry ground; I will pour out my Spirit on your offspring, and my blessing on your descendants. They will spring up like grass in a meadow, like poplar trees by flowing streams. Some will say, ‘I belong to the Lord’; others will call themselves by the name of Jacob; still others will write on their hand, ‘The Lord’s,’ and will take the name Israel. – Isaiah 44:1-5

Let me dismiss with polite protocol and get right to the point: You may have tried everything, and prayed and prayed, but don’t you dare give up on seeing victory in the life of your offspring! It is the will of God that they be saved. It is the will of God that they know the truth.

Yes, it is the will of God that they should be reconciled unto the Father and their names should be written in the Lamb’s Book of Life. It can happen. Heck, it’s going to happen because you are someone who is in covenant with the Lord your God!

That covenant does not just apply to your house, job and finances. His covenant also applies and extends to your seed (your unborn kids) and your offspring (your living children).

It is your job to have a right mind when it comes to believing God for victory in your kids’ lives. Do not give up! Make it your business to believe God and hope when others have fallen out.

I will pour out my Spirit on your offspring, and my blessing on your descendants. They will spring up like grass in a meadow, like poplar trees by flowing streams. Some will say, ‘I belong to the Lord’;others will call themselves by the name of Jacob; still others will write on their hand, ‘The Lord’s,’ and will take the name Israel. – Isaiah 44:3-5

TODAY IS A GOOD DAY TO KEEP THE FAITH. AS A BELIEVER, YOU HAVE A COVENANT WITH GOD AND THE SALVATION OF YOUR CHILDREN IS PART OF THAT PROMISE. SEE IT THROUGH!

ARE YOU OF THE RIGHT CHARACTER?

TODAY’S PROPHETIC THOUGHT

Align yourself to the assignment God has called you to, then step into the process that will move your destiny. When you accept who God has made you to be, your positive outcome will accelerate.

PARKED IN THE RIGHT SPOT

Dec. 1, 1955 could have been a typical day, but because the right person with the right character was in the right place at the right time, it was a day that changed the nation.

When Rosa Parks refused to give up her seat to a white man who demanded it, she was physically tired from a long day at work. She was also spiritually and emotionally full of enough strength to push America out of the stone age of racism.

The rest of Rosa’s story is history – her arrest and trial, the 381-day Montgomery bus boycott and the Supreme Court ruling in November of 1956 that segregation on transportation is unconstitutional.

Sometimes heroes come in small packages. Her fight was not just for her race, but also for everyone who is in love with what is right and hates what’s wrong. I thank God that Rosa didn’t miss that bus!

Tiny Rosa Parks was able to do what God had destined her to do because she was willing to be who God called her to be. Her character and strength put her into that world changing bus seat. Her belief in God was at the core of everything she did. Because it was, He could use her.

What about you? Are you of the right character? If you’re not, being at the right place at the right time is not enough.

If you want the front of the bus, the middle of the road or the back of the church – if you want to push others out of the way jockeying for a position of greatness – you have a long way to go. Only obedience to God can put you in the amazing places and situations where you can change the world.

Go after obedience! Work for Godly character and let Jesus set you up to make a difference by putting you in the right place in the right time.

Yet who knows whether you have come to the kingdom for such a time as this?” – Esther 4:14

TODAY IS A GOOD DAY TO DELVE INTO THE WORD. GET TO KNOW JESUS AND THE GIFTS HE HAS GIVEN YOU. AS YOU DO, YOU WILL PREPARE YOURSELF TO BE USED FOR HIS PURPOSES.
