PREPARE YOURSELF

TODAY’S PROPHETIC THOUGHT

Prepare yourself for a new day. Leaving the mistakes and disappointments behind, bringing your all to the feet of Jesus. With your heart full of repentance, you will be able to receive the latter rains in your life.

PREPARE FOR DROUGHT

God hates it when we call evil “good.” When goodness is not celebrated, when vanity is worshipped, drought and judgment are the result.

“…You have polluted the land with your harlotries and your wickedness. Therefore, the showers have been withheld, and there was been no latter rain. You have had a harlot’s forehead; You refuse to be ashamed.”
– Jeremiah 3:2-3

I think it’s amazing that just one month after America celebrated the lie of Bruce Jenner becoming a woman whose new name, Caitlyn, means “pure,” it was announced by Scientific American magazine that California was suffering from the greatest drought in recorded history.

In the article, writer Dan Baum said the “drought is transforming California in almost every conceivable way: meteorologically, geologically, biologically, agriculturally, socially, economically and politically.”

Yes, when you pollute the land with harlotries and refuse to be ashamed, it brings a game-changing drought that even science magazines will report. It’s a rehash of 1 Kings 17-18 and the sins of King Ahab and his idol-worshipping queen, Jezebel, a name that means “not exalted.”

God cursed Israel with a devastating drought when Ahab and his evil queen led the nation into full-fledged worship of Baal and Asherah. A false god and goddess made in the image of men’s evil hearts, Baal and Asherah demanded the sacrifice of children, sexual immorality and the rape of women.

The prophet Elijah warned the king of God’s displeasure. When Ahab, weakened by his dark queen, refused to be ashamed and turn from his wicked ways, God sent judgment.

Drought and famine hit like a hammer. Three years and many lives later, Elijah, proving once and for all that Baal was a false god by calling down fire from heaven, brought the disaster to an end. When the people saw this and repented, a rain cloud appeared. It grew and drenched the land.

Are you prepared for a drought of goodness in America? It’s already happening. Goodness is seen as evil and Christians are quickly becoming the enemy. Fear not! Do good anyway!

Turn away my eyes from looking at worthless things, And revive me in Your ways.  – Psalm 119:37

TODAY IS A GOOD DAY TO PREPARE FOR BATTLE! PUT ON THE FULL ARMOR OF GOD AND STAND AGAINST EVIL. REPENT AND PRAY FOR AMERICA.

WHAT IS COVENANT?

TODAY’S PROPHETIC THOUGHT

God is a covenant keeper and He wants you to be the same. Let your ‘yes’ be ‘yes’ and your ‘no’ be ‘no.’ When you make a covenant, keep it even if what’s required is some pain. Be a person of integrity just like God and you will be blessed beyond measure.

MARRIAGE OF CONVENIENCE

In this day and age, our children grow up really believing that marriage is a 50/50 proposition without any real understanding of true covenant.

They come of age, rent a tux, buy a gown and stand before somebody who will ask them some very serious questions.

Will you have this person to be your lawfully wedded? “I do,” they say to each other, and when they say that, they mean they do as long as there is something in it that is good for them.

Will you love and comfort, honor and keep each other in sickness and in health? “I do,” he says as long as she is who I think she should be and as long as she does what I think she should be doing.

Will you forsake all others and keep each other only as long as you both shall live? “I do,” she declares, as long as he makes me feel the way I should feel and as long as I am thrilled with being in love with this man.

And so they agree that this marriage will be a 50/50 endeavor, and when they find out that marriage requires 100/0, they say, “I don’t anymore!”

You see, they fail because they are driven by feelings and not by covenant. This doesn’t make them bad people. It just makes them guaranteed to fail!

So what is covenant? It’s the sold-out way of thinking that “all I have is yours and all you have is mine even if everything goes wrong.” Covenant is a “no matter what” mentality and it’s how God thinks.

He wants you to think that way too. Why? Because keeping your promises to God, yourself, your family and others produces integrity, character, and reliability. All three of these are needed for a successful marriage partnership and a real relationship with God.

TODAY IS A GOOD DAY TO HONOR YOUR COVENANT TO GOD. HE SAVED YOU AND MADE YOU PART OF THE FAMILY, SO THANK HIM BY KEEPING YOUR PROMISES TO HIM AND OTHERS.

WAY OF THE WARRIOR

TODAY’S PROPHETIC THOUGHT

God is doing a new work in your walk with peace. Position yourself as a warrior who walks in peace and takes the Kingdom of God into all areas of your life.

THE WAY OF THE WARRIOR

For my dad’s 66th birthday, I took him on a 500-mile tour of historic Texas battlefields. My dad is a huge Texas history buff, and he passed that love down to his favorite son.

We went to the old Coleman house, where Elizabeth Coleman and her oldest son were killed by 300 raiding Comanches. We saw the battle site at Brushy Creek, where Edward Burleson avenged the death of his brother.

We walked the hallowed ground of the Alamo and breathed in the sweet smell of freedom at San Jacinto. Washington on the Brazos and San Fillip also made the list.

When it was all said and done, I dubbed our tour “The Way of the Warrior.”

You see, my love of battlefields isn’t just from my Brewer blood. It’s also from the bloodline of Jesus.

Jesus is a king. But make no mistake – He is a warrior king!

…But the cowardly, the unbelieving, the vile, the murderers, the sexually immoral, those who practice magic arts, the idolaters and all liars—they will be consigned to the fiery lake of burning sulfur. This is the second death.  – Revelation 21:8

This scripture tells me there are no wimps or cowards in heaven. That makes heaven all the more glorious to me! As joint heirs with Jesus (Romans 8:17), you and I are also warriors. So what is the way we warriors should follow?

1. We are not spectators. We are warriors. We don’t listen to stories of God’s power. We tell them.

2. Comfort kills! Jesus says in Luke 10:3 that He is sending us out as lambs among wolves, not as potatoes upon couches. We are not tourists on vacation, and life is not a perpetual spa experience.

3. We are called to be peacemakers, not peacekeepers! UN peacekeeping forces have stood by and watched the slaughter of millions. I would rather be a Texas Ranger. The Rangers used pistols called peacemakers – they didn’t make deals with monsters or negotiate with the enemy. They put the enemy down!

4. We do not have to be defeated by a defeated devil. We can discourage him by our faith, demoralize him with our joy and depress him with our endurance.

What you might not realize is there is more victory attached to you that you can even imagine. Pull on your boots and take a step on the warrior way!

SURVIVOR OR OVERCOMER?

TODAY’S PROPHETIC THOUGHT

The Lord has cleaned and bound up your wounds. They have become scars. Your scars show you don’t let the offense of the wounds of your heart take over. You have overcome them. The Lord is so proud of you!

SURVIVOR VS OVERCOMER

There is a great difference between self-preservation and overcoming. It is the difference between the wilderness and the Promised Land.

A survivor is someone who suffers a terrible attack and lives to tell about it. In the Kingdom of God, that’s not good enough.

You see, an overcomer is someone who suffers a terrible attack, then rises up and defeats his attacker.

Survivors are victimized. Overcomers are victorious.

Survivors have wounds. Overcomers have scars, like Jesus.

Survivors are peacekeepers – think United Nations Peace Keeping Forces – basically useless. Overcomers are peacemakers – think the six-chambered pistol Samuel Colt forged that was used to bring justice and order to a lawless land.

You see, survivors go through the fire, then live life in constant reference to how they were burned. Overcomers go through the fire, and don’t even have the smell of smoke on their clothes – think Meshach, Shadrach and Abednego walking with the Angel of God in the fiery furnace.

Nebuchadnezzar spoke, saying, “Blessed be the God of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-Nego, who sent His Angel and delivered His servants who trusted in Him, and they have frustrated the king’s word, and yielded their bodies, that they should not serve nor worship any god except their own God!”
– Daniel 3:25

Were they concerned about their own survival? If they were, they would have bowed down to the golden statue of Nebuchadnezzar. Instead, they refused to worship a false god. They honored the one true God by showing their evil king who the real boss was.

Yes, there is a big difference between survivors and overcomers. However, the biggest difference is in reward. In the Kingdom of God, survivors don’t inherit the promises. Overcomers do.

“He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches. ‘To him who overcomes I will give to eat from the tree of life, which is in the midst of the Paradise of God.”’
– Revelation 2:7

Are you an overcomer? Choose life!

TODAY IS A GOOD DAY TO BE AN OVERCOMER. GO AFTER GREATER THINGS NOT ONLY FOR YOURSELF BUT FOR YOUR GOD. BRING OTHERS OUT OF SURVIVAL MODE TO FIGHT FOR MORE AND INHERIT THE PROMISE OF REAL LIFE!

IS YOUR MIND TRANSFORMED?

TODAY’S PROPHETIC THOUGHT

The helmet of salvation – what an awesome mighty tool! Never take it off. Wear it always to protect your thoughts from attacks of the enemy.

MENTAL TURF WARS

There is a glass case at Ft. Stewart where artifacts from Desert Storm are on display. One of the most interesting is a Kevlar helmet.

This U.S. Army issued helmet weighs only three pounds and costs around $90, but it bears the scars of a 7.62 AK-47 bullet. It took a direct hit and the young man wearing it survived the attack. Had he not been property dressed for battle at that exact moment, he would have been a casualty of war.

It’s the same way with you and me.

Why do you need to have a tough spiritual helmet? Because a blow to the head disorients you. It causes you to be confused.

That’s why you need the “Helmet of Salvation” issued to you by the Lord.

Every battle you fight should be with a perspective of who you are in Christ and who Jesus has called you to be. The devil will try to disorient you by telling you that you are who people have always said you are. He will shame you into thinking you are impotent. That’s called a head blow.

The devil will also try to confuse you with the recollection of past failures and bad choices – another head blow.

The devil will try to overwhelm you with the memory of terrible things that have happened to you and will tell you that God will not help you. Head blow!

If you fight the devil on any of those three turfs, you will lose every single time. So how does the Helmet of Salvation work? It gives you the perspective of salvation.

When the devil says, “I know who you really are, loser,” you can say, “I am saved. That makes me the righteousness of God through Christ.” When the devil says, “I know what you’ve done,” you can deflect the attack by saying, “I am a new creature in Christ.”

When the devil reminds you of past pains, hurts, and abuse, you can put on your helmet and say, “Devil, what you meant for evil, God has turned to good. I’m saved and my life is getting better and better.”

Fight your battles on the turf of the truth from the perspective of salvation. The devil can only have your mind if you let him. You will not be a casualty of war!

And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God; praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, being watchful to this end with all perseverance and supplication for all the saints…
– Ephesians 6:17-18

TODAY IS A GOOD DAY TO KNOW THAT THE DEVIL DOESN’T OWN YOUR MIND. IT WAS PURCHASED WITH A PRICE – THE BLOOD OF JESUS CHRIST. PROTECT THE PROPERTY OF THE KING BY PREPARING FOR THE DAILY BATTLE FOR YOUR MIND. PUT ON THE HELMET OF SALVATION AND STAND!

GOD MEANT IT FOR GOOD

TODAY’S PROPHETIC THOUGHT

God is telling Americans and Christians to wake up and seek His face – pray for guidance, wisdom, and humility to serve for our elected leaders. We must acknowledge God in all our ways and He will direct our paths (Proverbs 3:6). For evil to succeed good men need only do nothing…

THE HOBBIT OF EVIL

Take it from me, there is really nothing impressive about evil.

Pol Pot, Hitler, Stalin, Idi Amin, Gadaffi, Sadam Hussein – they are all part of a long list of tyrants who’ve played demonic roles in history. In short, they are evidence that man’s basic condition is the same as it has always been.

The heart is desperately wicked; who can know it?
– Jeremiah 17:12

Yes, man’s heart is still deceitful and in need of a savior. There is nothing impressive about that at all, is there?

From a kingdom perspective, which I hope you are growing in, evil is just something to be judged and executed. Jesus doesn’t want us to be impressed with it, or give it power through fearing it. Instead, He wants us to overcome it with good.

Take Idi Amin for example. We have two orphanages in Uganda, so I’m very aware of that nation’s recent history. The cruel Muslim dictator overthrew the government and turned Uganda into a Muslim nation despite only six percent of the population agreeing with him. His favorite target? Christians.

Amin set about exterminating Christians while the world watched and did nearly nothing. The torture chamber under his palace is notorious for the truly demonic ways he killed God’s children. Instead of oohing and aahing over his evil deeds, take a look at the result of his hatred and malice.

Despite Amin trying to stamp out Christians, his persecution caused the church to grow. Yes, the church in Uganda is thriving. People are being educated, fed and blessed in incredible ways because the Ugandan church has been a light in the midst of darkness to the rest of Africa.

As for you, what you meant for evil, God meant for good.
– Genesis 50:20

It’s impressive how quickly goodness reigns over destruction because God is the master of turning things around for good. What’s truly impressive is the goodness of God in the life that is redeemed and set free. We should be impressed, stirred and just plain blown away by goodness.

TODAY IS A GOOD DAY TO BE IMPRESSED WITH GOOD AND SEE EVIL FOR WHAT IT REALLY IS: MAN’S LOST CONDITION AND NEED FOR A SAVIOR. NO MATTER WHAT THE CIRCUMSTANCE, REMEMBER GOOD OVERCOMES EVIL.

LEAVE YOUR PAST BEHIND

TODAY’S PROPHETIC THOUGHT

There is now no condemnation for those in Christ Jesus. Stop letting the enemy tell you who you are not, and learn your identity in Christ! He says you are more than a conqueror if you love Him. Walk in the righteousness that Christ died for you to have!

ISABELLA AND A PRICE OF FREEDOM

At the age of 18, I was graduating high school and life was full of friends, music and hope for the future. That same year, Isabella turned 18 and was sold into sexual slavery to pay her family’s debts to the Mexican drug cartels. She entered into a life of hopelessness.

By the time we met, we were both 36. No longer young and beautiful, she had been thrown into the trash, literally, by her pimps. Forced to scavenge for anything of value her bosses could sell, Isabella spent her days and nights in a toxic, festering, stinking environment enslaved in every way.

We met when I took a mission team to the trash dumps of Matamoros. Upon learning her story, I asked a local pastor what it could cost to buy her freedom. He asked Isabella’s bosses how much a human being cost. The answer? A scant $631.

We set Isabella free that day. She was free to find her family – free to live wherever she wanted. My heart soared and I felt like the most privileged person on the planet to be part of setting someone free from the evil of slavery. I had visions of her happiness.

Therefore if the Son makes you free, you shall be free indeed.
– John 8:36

But Isabella wasn’t free. Knowing only physical, mental and emotional slavery her entire adult life, she was unable to muster the strength to leave the trash dump. She was still there four years later, of her own free will, gathering cardboard along with her husband and child. “Forgive me,” she said. “I don’t know how to live out there. I only know how to live here.”

Because of the mercy given to me by Jesus Christ, I was able to hug her and encourage her. Yes, I was disappointed she decided to stay in the dump, but I see many of us in her.

Despite the freedom Christ gives us when we get saved, we remain in our trash heaps – unhealthy relationships, addictions, negative thought patterns, violent behaviors and other things we need to put in our past. It’s hard to see yourself as clean and set free when, on the inside, you feel filthy and tied up.

But, hear me on this: you are clean! You are free! You are now righteous in the sight of God despite not having everything together!

And having been set free from sin, you became slaves of righteousness.
– Romans 6:18

Should you work toward getting out of your personal trash dump? Yes. Isabella did. She eventually left and I know I will see her in Heaven to get the rest of the story. What about you?

TODAY IS A GOOD DAY TO BREAK THE CHAINS THAT BIND YOU TO YOUR PAST. YOU ARE RIGHTEOUS IN GOD’S EYES SO DECLARE IT! PROCLAIM VICTORY OVER THE GARBAGE IN YOUR LIFE AND STEP INTO FREEDOM!

RUN TO THE FATHER

TODAY’S PROPHETIC THOUGHT

God is speaking courage into you. To move into your Promised Land you will have giants who try to keep you from advancing. No matter how loud it roars, know God is bigger. Trust in God’s promises as you advance into the place He has for you.

RUN TO HIM

If you are going to get your upgrade and go to the next level, you cannot rebel against God in your wilderness experience – which is easy to do as the wilderness is hard! If you’re like me, you get tempted to run away from God.

Instead, you must run to Him!

The name of the Lord is a fortified tower; the righteous run to it and are safe.   – Proverbs 18:10

You see, how you act in the wilderness determines if you spend 40 days like Jesus did, or 40 years, like Moses. It is really up to you!

It is so important we learn to live and be happy in God’s presence, because in the wilderness, the battle is about survival. In the Promised Land, it is about advancing.

The enemy of dreaming, of creativity and moving forward, is survival. God wants you to get through your wilderness so you can get past surviving and get on with thriving. To do this, the enemy must be displaced from the places God has given you as an inheritance.

Know this: that place of inheritance is in God’s amazing presence in the wilderness. It’s where He changes you from a helpless slave to an overcoming warrior.

So instead of learning how to protect yourself, God wants to teach you how to fight. To battle for His promises, His goodness, hearing His voice and for territory in which to glorify Him. He wants to make you dangerous to the enemy and willing to fight for more of Him.

Do you want to be a warrior? Learn to fight through prayer and by searching for the heart of the King of Kings. Run to Him!

TODAY IS A GOOD DAY TO GO AFTER YOUR UPGRADE. STEP OUT OF SURVIVAL MODE BY RUNNING TO YOUR SAVIOR. BECOME A WARRIOR BY GETTING ON YOUR KNEES IN PRAYER, WHERE THE BATTLE BELONGS TO THE LORD!

BLESSED IN A MESS

TODAY’S PROPHETIC THOUGHT

Immerse yourself in the truth of God’s Word. Proclaim and declare the Lord’s goodness over yourself and your house. You are a warrior!

THE BELT OF TRUTH

I love to read about the Full Armor of God in Ephesians chapter 6. As a true Texan and warrior for Jesus, the armor not only has deep meaning for me, it is a motivation to go after Kingdom upgrade and advance the Gospel.

Though we like to talk about the sword, the shield, helmet and breastplate, there’s not a lot of talk about the piece of the armor that may just be the most important – the Belt of Truth.

The reason truth is seen as a belt in this scripture is because truth is what holds all your armor together under pressure. Surprisingly, God says the belt of truth is the first piece of armor you put on and that you should “gird your loins” with it.

Therefore gird up the loins of your mind, be sober, and rest your hope fully upon the grace that is to be brought to you at the revelation of Jesus Christ;
–  1 Peter 1:13

Remember, the Bible tells you that your loins are between your ears.

See, the mind is a reproductive organ. What you think becomes your words, attitudes and actions. If you are fearful, you will reproduce fear in all you say and do to the detriment of others. If you think about your past, your failures, or the enemies surrounding you, you will reproduce those things in your life.

Truth has everything to do with your mind. If you’re going to armor up, God says truth is the way to hold yourself together when the battle for your mind heats up.

What truth is that? First, the truth of scripture – that Jesus is God, He became a man, died for your sins and rose again to give you a place at His Father’s family table. Second, the truth of who you are to God – His beloved child, a warrior who need not fear because no weapon fashioned against you shall prosper.

However, for that to happen, you must hold your thought life together with the belt of truth. And remember, facts and truth are different. Facts are temporary. Truth is eternal and never changes.

It may be a fact that your spouse left you, but it’s the truth that God knows who you are and what you are worth. The nightly news gives you the facts, as does the doctor after a checkup. However, only the Holy Spirit gives you the truth.

However, when He, the Spirit of truth, has come, He will guide you into all truth; for He will not speak on His own authority, but whatever He hears He will speak; and He will tell you things to come.
– John 16:13

TODAY IS A GOOD DAY TO MAINTAIN TRUTH IN THE MIDST OF YOUR MESS. BE PREPARED FOR THE ENEMY’S ATTACK BY PROTECTING YOUR MIND AND SPIRIT WITH THE TRUTH OF WHO JESUS IS AND WHO YOU ARE IN HIM!
