THE MIRACLE OF PERFECT TIMING – PART 2

TODAY’S DECLARATION

I declare in Jesus’ name God is a god of miracles! I can expect Him to move in miraculous ways and wait expectantly to see what He will do. He will lead my steps right into a divine appointment today.

THE MIRACLE OF PERFECT TIMING — PART 2

Are you ready for the rest of the miracle behind bars where God’s perfect timing will blow you away?

Well, the next day, I’m 250 miles west of the Michael Unit where a stone cold criminal had told me his story of redemption. As we parted, he mused aloud how he wanted to tell his family he had gotten saved and was a changed man, but knew they wouldn’t believe him after all his lies and crimes.

The Texas Rangers were playing at the Ballpark in Arlington. My friend, Maurice, and I decided we needed to go. We found a scalper and scored two el-primo seats right behind third base.

As I sat down, I politely said, “Hi” to the stranger next to me and put my attention on the game for five innings.

Then, in the sixth, Benji Gil hit the ball so hard, I shouted, “Praise God!” convinced it would go out of the park. It turned out to be foul, but the skinny guy next to me said, “Are you a Christian?” Well, the answer was yes, and we both politely talked about being in the ministry. When I mentioned prison ministry, he leaned over and quietly said, “I don’t usually tell people this, but I have a brother in prison.”

“Oh, really? What prison is he in?” I asked.

“The Michael Unit,” he replied.

“I was just in the Michael Unit last night. Maybe I saw your brother,” I said.

“You wouldn’t see him in a church service,” he said with a sad look. “The last time I tried to pray with him, he spit in my face and threatened to rip my tongue out.”

That’s when it hit me – in the midst of tens of thousands of people, God was moving. My jaw dropped to the ground as this stranger told me the same story I had heard the day before. He admitted that after his brother spit in his face, he decided to get on with his life, but he was sorry he didn’t keep trying.

“But you did. You sent him a Bible for Christmas. He read it, got saved and has been a big part of the church for more than eight months,” I told him.

As he sat at an MLB game and cried, I described his brother and told him word for word our conversation from the night before.

“Well, big brother. God has honored your prayers and your ministry to your brother in prison,” I said.

“My brother is saved?” he asked for confirmation. “How did that happen?”

Surrounded by tens of thousands of Texas Rangers fans, I confirmed a miracle.

“He read the red letters!”

You see, our God is a god of perfect timing. He causes us to be in the right place at the right time, for the right miracle to happen. What are the odds that the tickets I purchased just before the game would put me in the seat next to the brother of the prisoner I had prayed with the night before? The only answer is that God orchestrated it.

The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord, And He delights in his way. – Psalm 37:23

THE MIRACLE OF PERFECT TIMING – PART 1

TODAY’S DECLARATION

I declare in the name of Jesus this is a time to be still and know that you are God. I will take time to reflect and meditate on the Lord; to hear His voice over my situation. He is speaking. I hear His voice.

THE MIRACLE OF PERFECT TIMING — PART 1

Way back in the piney woods of East Texas lie some of the state’s most notorious prisons. Many of them have the reputation of being what inmates call “Gladiator Farms.” The Michael Unit is one of those prisons. When I was invited to preach there, I was surprised to find the chapel completely full. Praise music was flowing, the Spirit was moving and there was a general feeling of expectancy.

I noticed a man clutching a Bible and worshipping with huge tears streaming down his scarred cheeks. The scars proved he had done his share of fighting. The tears proved he had surrendered to Jesus.

He had a beautiful hand tooled leather Bible cover. I asked if he made it. He said yes, because his Bible was very special to him. “I’m going to be in here a long time and I don’t want it to wear out,” he said.

This man had been a curse to his family all his life. Though he was raised in a good home with good parents and loving brothers and sisters, no matter how much they loved him, he chose trouble. He told me there was no end to the terrible things he put his family through.

He had stolen from them all, and threatened them all. Then, the year he should’ve graduated high school, he did something terrible that put him behind bars for the rest of his life.

Still, an older brother visited him every month and tried to talk about Jesus, but the man would have none of it. The brother came for years and years until the man finally spit in his face and told him he never wanted to see him again.

The brother left and never came back. The prisoner was sorry, but didn’t know how to apologize or ask forgiveness.

One Christmas, he got a package and when he opened it, there was a Bible. His brother had written a simple inscription inside: “READ THE RED LETTERS.” As my prisoner friend was trying to figure out what it meant, another inmate attacked him and tried to kill him. This was a blessing in disguise because he was immediately put in segregation for his own safety.

With nothing else to do, still and small for the first time in his wretched, selfish life, he read the red letters. He got saved and months later when he met me, he admitted he wanted to tell his family, but feared they wouldn’t believe him after all the games he had played. “How can I prove it?” he mused.

Read tomorrow for the rest of this prisoner’s amazing story and listen to the spirit’s prompting today. Get still and small so you can hear the gentle voice of Jesus.

Then He said, “Go out, and stand on the mountain before the Lord.” And behold, the Lord passed by, and a great and strong wind tore into the mountains and broke the rocks in pieces before the Lord, but the Lord was not in the wind; and after the wind an earthquake, but the Lord was not in the earthquake; 12 and after the earthquake a fire, but the Lord was not in the fire; and after the fire a still small voice. – 1 Kings 19:11-12

YOU’RE JUST LIKE YOUR FATHER

TODAY’S DECLARATION

I declare in the name of Jesus that God’s loving kindness is greater than any and all my troubles. I do not focus on evil, but His ability to operate through me.  Jesus will cause His goodness to multiply through my life.

YOU’RE JUST LIKE YOUR FATHER

As people who are supposed to reflect the face of God, we are to love what is good. We are to do good and celebrate anything that is selfless, kind or uplifting.

Do you have a high value for the betterment of other people? Do you have the Kingdom perspective of selfless giving? If you don’t, you should. It will bring heaven to earth.

Let love be without hypocrisy. Abhor what is evil. Cling to what is good. Be kindly affectionate to one another with brotherly love, in honor giving preference to one another; not lagging in diligence, fervent in spirit, serving the Lord; rejoicing in hope, patient in tribulation, continuing steadfastly in prayer; distributing to the needs of the saints, given to hospitality. – Romans 12:9-13

If you live as a redeemed resident of heaven on earth in the midst of this ungodly generation, you will learn to love what God loves and hate what God hates. He really loves goodness. He really loves seeing His kids go out of their way to be kind, and reach out to those in need.

However, He is ecstatic when He gets the glory for your goodness. To Him, it’s like hearing someone say, “She’s got her Father’s eyes!” or “He’s generous just like his Daddy!” It makes Him so proud when you point to Him and let people know your goodness runs in the spiritual family.

When was the last time you pointed to Him? If it’s been a while, find a reason today to practice goodness and brag on your Father in heaven. To God be the glory!

Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven. – Matthew 5:16

WHO SAID THAT?

TODAY’S DECLARATION

I declare in the name of Jesus I am a person of action. I will get up and be the hands and feet of Jesus to those in my world. I partner with Father God today to get me to my Kingdom purpose.

WHO SAID THAT?

It is a twisted thinking that if something is “God’s will, it will happen.” While this thinking is true, God’s will for your life, your family, ministry, health and financial success – doesn’t happen in a vacuum. It takes strategic planning, effort and partnering with the Holy Spirit to bring about a desired result.

Let’s take a look at one very smart man who had his thinking wrong. Gamaliel was one of the Jewish leaders in Jesus’ day. Paul, himself, was Gamaliel’s student before Jesus knocked Paul off his high horse and set him straight.

In the book of Acts, several apostles were thrown in jail for preaching the Gospel. The Jewish council had a hard time deciding what to do with them. As a result, Gamaliel, took the floor. Proving that the chief priests and Pharisees didn’t know God at all, he said the following nonsense:

“Men of Israel, consider carefully what you intend to do to these men. Some time ago Theudas appeared, claiming to be somebody, and about four hundred men rallied to him. He was killed, all his followers were dispersed, and it all came to nothing. After him, Judas the Galilean appeared in the days of the census and led a band of people in revolt. He too was killed, and all his followers were scattered. Therefore, in the present case I advise you: Leave these men alone! Let them go! For if their purpose or activity is of human origin, it will fail. But if it is from God, you will not be able to stop these men; you will only find yourselves fighting against God.” –Acts 5:35-39

While this sounds like a wise answer, the Word never says that! This is the speech of a man who refuses to take decisive action and has a policy to not get involved! This is the classic thinking of religious people to justify doing nothing while the world around them goes to Hell in the proverbial handbasket. Don’t let that be you!

Let’s get this straight – vision is achieved through strategic action, aggressive moves and partnership with the Holy Spirit. Get a God-given plan and strategy. Get some God-given courage and grace, then make something happen to achieve your God-given vision.

THE CURE FOR “NOBODY LOVES ME”

TODAY’S DECLARATION

I declare in Jesus name that I know my identity is in Christ. He has a great big inheritance for me. He knows the number of hairs on my head. He counts my tears. Not one of them is lost. I am not an orphan. I am His.

THE CURE FOR “NOBODY LOVES ME”

Do you really know how much you are loved by the only One who really matters? His name is Jesus Christ and the Bible says in Zechariah 2:8 that whoever touches you, “touches the apple of His eye.” Just so you know, that is the pupil, or “untouchable” part of the eye.

Jeremiah 29:11 says that when God thinks about you, His thoughts are of peace and plans to bring you to “an expected end” – a certain outcome or specific plan for your life. Wow!

Revelation 1:6 says that when God sees you, He sees you as a King or Priest. Yes, Daddy calls you royalty! If He has a wallet, your picture is in it! If God’s got a refrigerator, your accomplishments are displayed all over it!

You see, God likes to embarrass the devil by bragging on you the way He bragged on Job. He sees you through the eyes of love. In spite of this, you can’t really love other people until you truly understand how much God loves you. The greater your revelation of His love, the greater your capacity to demonstrate it for others.

Evangeline Booth, daughter of the founder of the Salvation Army, had a real knowledge of the Jesus-kind of love. As she sat in a filthy slum cleaning the sores of a drunk woman, a friend said to her, “I wouldn’t do that for a million dollars. “

Amazingly, Evangeline Booth replied, “Neither would I.”

She really understood what love was all about. That is the way Jesus loves you.

TODAY IS A GOOD DAY TO EMBRACE THE REVELATION OF GOD’S CRAZY LOVE FOR YOU! YOU DON’T DESERVE IT AND CAN’T BUY IT, BUT YOU CAN GIVE IT AWAY!

THE PRICE OF PROGRESSION

TODAY’S DECLARATION

I declare in the name of Jesus that the progression for my upgrade is all mapped out. I am stepping out in faith to love the widow, the orphan and the homeless. I am moving forward to my God-given destiny.

THE PRICE OF PROGRESSION

Yes, my friends, there is a price to pay for moving forward and progressing. If the price is right, you could get the deal of the century. Thomas Jefferson did.

The largest land deal in history doubled the size of the United States at the stroke of a pen and the raising of a flag. The Louisiana Purchase was made in 1803. Jefferson paid $15 million for 800,000 square miles of land.

To Jefferson, Louisiana meant the next step in expansion. The rally cry for America’s “manifest destiny” to span from “sea to shining sea” was his motivation. If he didn’t take the next step, the North American continent would eventually become Western Europe.

This deal with arguably the greatest achievement of Jefferson’s presidency for many reasons, but there is one I especially want to point out: the price of discovery.

Progress has a price. The Louisiana Purchase was made before anyone even knew what it was. The land had never been explored or surveyed. Everything west of Missouri was a mystery, but Jefferson gambled $15 million in borrowed money that it was going to be worth it.

Can you do that? Can you pay the price for something that has not been mapped out yet? Can you sell out for something simply because you do not have the option to stay where you are?

If you can, I promise that you will get your upgrade. Heaven applauds when you go after bigger and better. Go after your own manifest destiny in Jesus. It’s worth the price of progress!

And the Lord will grant you plenty of goods, in the fruit of your body, in the increase of your livestock, and in the produce of your ground, in the land of which the Lord swore to your fathers to give you. – Deuteronomy 28:11

THERMOSTAT VS. THERMOMETER

TODAY’S DECLARATION

I declare in the name of Jesus I am an atmosphere changer. I am prepared with the Lord’s goodness and will pour it out on others for Kingdom outcomes. His measure of goodness is being increased in me as I walk in His ways.

THERMOSTAT VS. THERMOMETER

I have noticed goodness likes to show up in a mess. The deal is, once goodness is engaged in the chaos that is us, the mess is no longer the issue. That’s because goodness is like a thermostat. It can’t help but change the atmosphere.

You see, unlike a thermometer which only measures the temperature, God’s goodness is a thermostat. It not only measures the “temperature” of the atmosphere, it changes and resets the tone of a situation, and the tone of your life – permanently.

That’s why at the beginning of the creation story and at the end of every day, God said, “It is good.” Goodness is always the catalyst for transition. That’s were transformation begins – God’s goodness pouring out on you. It’s what sends you on your journey with Him.

Are you stuck in a rut along your path with Jesus? If it’s been a long time since you’ve seen transformation in your life, turn up the heat by pouring out the goodness of God onto others. The Lord will reset your thermostat to a new level of goodness each time you turn up the amount of goodness you demonstrate.

Father God likes it when His kids are thermostats.

And you answered me and said, ‘The thing which you have told us to do is good.’ – Deuteronomy 1:14

TODAY IS A GOOD DAY TO TURN UP THE HEAT ON THE AMOUNT OF GOODNESS YOU SHOWER ON OTHERS. GOOD BRINGS TRANSFORMATION TO A SITUATION BECAUSE GOOD OVERCOMES EVIL!

GOD WANTS TOO MUCH OUT OF ME!

TODAY’S DECLARATION

I declare in Jesus’ name my life belongs to the Lord. I give Him all of it and hold nothing back. I am a living sacrifice for the Kingdom just as Jesus was a living sacrifice for me. I am blessed!

“GOD WANTS TOO MUCH OUT OF ME!”

Ok, this is another lie that Satan likes to whisper in our ear so we won’t go after God’s best for us. He wants us out of the fight, off the mission field and influencing others to follow our sorry attitude.

“So, let me get this straight,” said the young man across my desk. “I quit smoking weed. I moved out of my girlfriend’s house. I don’t have any friends except here at church, and you’re telling me God wants more?”

“Yes.”

“How much more, Pastor Troy?”

“Everything. All of it. He’s after you, boy, and He’s not going to quit.”

Over the years, I have had this conversation with many people, including the good looking fat man in the mirror. We all have a selfish part that wants to tell God to “talk to the hand” when it comes to asking more out of our life. On this subject, we need a right mind.

I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God that you present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. – Romans 12:1

Gulp! What does it mean when it says to present your body as a living sacrifice? It means to lay it down and give it up. You may fear going to the trash dumps of Matamoros, Mexico, the OpenDoor Food Bank or the homeless outreach on Skid Row, but the Lord just told you to sacrifice your personal comfort and sometimes, safety, to go there to help the hurting.

It’s really not a big deal. As a matter of fact, it’s only your “reasonable service.” In other words, it’s the sensible, sufficient and inexpensive way to serve the Lord.

So how can God think it’s not a that big a deal to give your entire life to Him? Because He made it so He owns it!
