Kristina's Word for 2017

Kristina's Word for 2017It's congratulations time! Linda Tillis ~ your name was drawn during a super-duper giveaway last week...and you get a prezzie from me! Just shoot me an email (kristina @ kristinaknightauthor.com) and I'll get your prize right out to you!

Here we are at another January...and I can't quite believe it. It seems like we were just kicking off 2016, doesn't it? The calendar definitely says January and 2017, though, so that means it's time to come up with another plan for anot...

Happy New Year and the last 10,000

When I came over to write my blog for Monday--it's Saturday morning as I'm getting started--I discovered that someone else had already written a post on the subject I was going to use. I was so glad I looked, because the post coming is better than the one I hadn't written yet would have been. Onward...

Happy New Year, everyone. Although I'm not going to beat the dead horse a whole lot more, I will say I've never been so happy to see a year end. Now I am determined that 2017 will be better...no...

Ho-Ho-Holiday Shows!

The Holidays are always such a wonderful, stressful, busy time of the year. As an adult, I find that I have very little time to sit down and watch any of the television specials, so I pull my list of favorites from childhood.
And it’s funny how their message to me has changed over the years. Or maybe it's just me.
Take, for example, the stop-motion classic “Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer” (and of course, it’s brethren “Rudolph’s Shiny New Year,” “Santa Claus is Comin’ to Town,” “The Year withou...

A Few Christmas Favorites

First, a big congratulations to Carolyn McCutcheon ~ your name was drawn during a super-duper giveaway last week...and you get a prezzie from me! Just shoot me an email (kristina @ kristinaknightauthor.com) and I'll get your prize right out to you!

One with the regular post!

I talk about favorite things a lot - favorite foods, TV shows, movies, Christmas decorations...the list goes on. But we're in the middle of the Week Before Christmas, and that has me thinking about one specific se...

Goodnight, John-Boy . . .

So you've already figured it out, right?

This week's holiday theme is our favorite Christmas episodes from TV shows and that's one I don't even have to think about. Any Christmas episode from the iconic family show, The Waltons, which I confess, I was addicted to for the entire ten years it ran on CBS. It was the Thursday night must-see among my college dorm mates at Purdue. Every week, about twenty-five of us, clad in our jammies, would gather in front of the TV in Vawter Hall's rec room for...

Andy, Matt, Hawkeye, and Santa Claus...Heroes All

My winner for last week’s prize is Joanne Guidoccio. Thanks for entering, Joanne!
Winding down toward Christmas. It’s snowy here, which makes it easy to anticipate the holiday and relish memories. Some of my favorite Christmas memories have taken place in front of a television set, an oddity for someone like me, who thinks a TV screen’s main purpose is to collect dust.
We didn’t go to movies when I was a kid. Partly because we lived way out in the country and society wasn’t as mobile as it is n...

Hurrah for Christmas Cookies!

Last week's winner of an ecopy of my contemporary romance RESCUE ME was Mary Thornburg. Congratulations, Mary!

Nothing says Christmas more to me than cookies, especially the ones I only make at this time of year. I’ve got a couple of my favorite recipes for you today. Wish I had more pictures. I will definitely take pictures when I make rum balls this year.

RUM BALLS
I started making these because my daughter has trouble digesting gluten, and my efforts to make a gluten-free shortbread were a di...

My Favorite Holiday Recipe

Take one bottle of lovely french Champagne, one bag of kettle-cooked potato chips, and a mix of fun family and friends. Fill with laughter and good times. Serves all; makes great memories.  That’s my favorite Holiday Recipe. The Champagne and potato chips are mostly for me because they fill my belly with joy, but I am happy to share. The most important ingredient in that recipe is the family and friends—Oh, wait… we were talking food recipes this week, weren’t we? Oops!  I wish I h...
