#Thanksgiving and the #3goodthings
November 6, 2011
excited to be part of the annual #book fair next Tuesday in #Washington, DC: @pressclubdc
Oh yeah. Ann Coulter, Bob Edwards, and me (plus a couple dozen other writers, hawking their books….and there's a good cause behind it: to raise money for journalism education.)

@NickKristof 's "Women hold up Half the Sky" @skirball_LA
The best part of working at KCRW is getting to go to wonderful places like the Skirball Center in Los Angeles to see amazing, innovative work like this (and then to be able to tell people about it:)

Tis the season for @RevBillyTalen and the Stop Shopping Choir
#Idea Project, this Saturday
Proud to be participating as a speaker in the Idea Project this Saturday in Los Angeles. A mini-sort of TED. (As opposed to Ted.) I'll be talking about….happiness, of course.

#Bhutan: Through the Lens of the King
Here's a review of a new book that contains, mostly, photographs by K5…including, apparently one of his gorgeous new Queen. This, however, is not her, but rather a shot of dancers at the Paro Tschechu:

Balloons of #Bhutan
Saw this presentation by Jonathan Harris at a TED-like conference a few years ago; now, here's the book: Balloons of Bhutan, in which he asks citizens of the Kingdom to write their wishes on Balloons and then takes magnificent pictures like this: URL for more information below. (Thanks, MM!)
Hi folks,
Way back in 2007, I did a little project in Bhutan about "Gross National Happiness", Bhutan's much saner alternative to "Gross National Product".
I have finally gotten around to preparing a website to house this experiment (life has been hectic).
You can find it here: http://balloonsofbhutan.org
It involved handing out balloons to 117 people, talking to them about happiness, asking them to make a wish, and then stringing up the wishes in a mountain pass:
