A royal kiss befitting the occasion: #Kuensel

So so so sweet, how happy dear King Jigme is…this is almost as great as their walking 13 hours and stopping to greet the well-wishers:

Lifestyle diseases in #Bhutan….

….stemming in part from unhealthy diet, due to…. modernization.

I read this while watching live pictures from Thimphu on the BBS as the King and his new Queen return to the capital….. Oh how I long to know what she is thinking!

Royal wedding in #Bhutan….and Santa Monica

From the KCRW studio where I work, I am watching the royal wedding in Bhutan. Thanks to the magic of technology and the BBS. (Sorry, boss.)

The last royal wedding was over 50 years ago. Long before TV in Bhutan or much electricity. Wow.

#Hindu Temple in #Thimphu, #Bhutan

Lost in the excitement about the royal wedding is the groundbreaking (figuratively as well as literally) news that a Hindu Temple will be built in Thimphu..and that

The acknowledgement of another religion not to mention residents of Nepali origin is enormous, enormous news for Bhutan in the wake of the resettlement of the "forgotten people" who've lived in refugee camps and are now being resettled. Eager to see what happens next….
