Cynthia Sax Weekly Update – November 5

The countdown to the release of Intrepid Encounter is on! I shared the first scene from the first chapter this past week. Woot! I can’t wait for you to read this story, my friends. It is explosive! (grins)

I’m working on the first draft of Strike Zone, the first core story in the Dauntless Cyborgs series (releasing in February). You’ll be seeing this update a lot. I’m a slow writer but I get stories written and that is what truly matters.

Blood will be spilled and hearts will be captured.

Intrepid and his crew on the Dauntless guard the border to the cyborg sector. The D Model cyborg captain has dedicated his lifespan to protecting their homeland. He’ll do anything to secure the space and keep his brethren safe.

That includes confronting a Valkyrie intent on vengeance.

The female warrior is beautiful, brave, strong…and Intrepid’s genetic match. She’s the one being he is fated to claim. Her voice causes his circuits to hum. Her touch produces a passion he struggles to control.

But if he has to stop her…permanently…to protect his kind, he will make that sacrifice.

Olrun has been tracking the whereabouts of a one-of-a-kind object. The stolen item is critical to the safety of her Valkyrie sisters, and she’ll do anything to retrieve it.

That includes waging war on a tall, broad-shouldered cyborg warrior sporting brilliant-blue eyes and grimly set lips.

The male might…just might…have battle skills matching her own. And that excites the immortal fighter. She craves his rough handling, his punishing embrace, his stern words.

Intrepid Encounter – Someone To Confide In

Intrepid, the hero of Intrepid Encounter (releasing November 21st, November 20th if you pre-order it), is the captain of a huge battle station. He is surrounded by his crew including his officers.

And he likes his crew. He likes being with them.

He also has friends off ship. Rage is one of those friends.

Throwback Thursday – Chasing Mayhem

I love that my awesome cover artist, Amanda Kelsey, captured Mayhem’s hair so well on his cover. Because he is, by far, the wildest cyborg warrior I’ve ever written about. He is game for just about anything and he has NO caution for his own lifespan.

Which is good because his heroine is trying to capture him. (grins) Imee is a Retriever, a bounty hunter type being working for the Humanoid Alliance, the enemy of all cyborgs everywhere. She is determined to hunt Mayhem down and bring him back to his cruel manufacturers (likely for decommissioning, a death sentence).

Happy Halloween

Halloween is my all time favorite celebration of the year. Yes, I love it more than I love my birthday. (grins)

I love the fantastical costumes and how people disappear into magic and make believe for the day.

I love meeting all the little trick-or-treaters who come to our door. Kids are in a constant state of wonder, aren’t they? They are a gift to the world.

I love the candy. When I eat those tiny chocolate bars, I feel like a giant.

I love the fall colors, the leaves, the pumpkins and jack-o-lanterns.

And I love the ghost stories. (shivers in delight)

Intrepid Encounter And Being Immortal

Both Cyborgs and Valkyries have an unlimited natural lifespan. They don’t age. Their bodies don’t break down over time. They have the ability to be immortal.

That might sound awesome. (Especially the no illness part. – grins)

The Need For An Escape

The world is a mess right now. It is currently so bad I don’t feel the need to mention the ways in which it is messed up.

(big hugs)

We need to deal with these situations. But we also need to take care of ourselves emotionally and mentally.

Which is why we should NEVER feel guilty about reading (and writing) romance novels. We NEED that escape. We NEED the boost of happiness and hope and optimism that comes at the end of these stories. We NEED to see, on the page, that good can triumph and dark moments can be defeated.

Once we have that reassurance, that break, we can better tackle the issues on this planet.

Throwback Thursday – Dark Fire
