Why do we carve pumpkins and other #Halloween traditions by Kristin Wallace

So, it's October now, which means Halloween is a couple weeks away. Pumpkin Spice is everywhere. Hocus Pocus is on TV every day. Plus, there are other fall customs…carving a pumpkin, hayrides, hot apple cider, caramel apples. Choosing a costume. My mom made several of mine growing up, including a witch and a princess. There’s trick o’ treating and Halloween parties.

Those are all big

Futuristic Fun with Old Ideas by Elsa Jade

Fall 2019 marks the fourth
season of the Intergalactic Dating Agency—a sprawling
multi-author universe of science fiction romances featuring aliens who’ve come
to Earth searching for love. At the start of this season, the IDA universe was
already 63 books strong, and I’ve penned a dozen of them!

From the beginning, the IDA
universe was meant to be big, adventurous, romantic fun—for the readers

Women of STEM #superhero #science

Hi, I'm Pippa Jay, author of scifi and supernatural stories to engage your emotions. But over the past year, I've been back to work full time. After 12 years as an analytical chemist in a metals and minerals laboratory, then 16 years as a stay at home mum, I've gone back to my first love - science - as a technician in a school for 11-18 year olds. I get to science, but still get to spend the

Heroes? Give Me Silent Over Super Anytime

You'd think that as a romance writer I have a handle on the whole fantasy thing. We write about love (which isn't a fantasy), but the stories that love is set in are often far from reality (well my reality anyway). Billionaires, exotic locations, the perfect man. A happy ever after for everyone.

So, if I can suspend disbelief in the stories I read and write, why don't I get the whole

Everyday Heroines Who Make Life Special... by Delsora Lowe

The world is
filled with heroes and heroines, many famous, but most ordinary people like you
and me. Those people who plod through daily life, working jobs, taking care of
families, and volunteering in their community. The unsung heroes and heroines
of the world. Every now and then, one does something extraordinary enough to be
called out to the world as a heroic figure.I have many

Superheroes Don’t Need Capes!

By: Marcia King-Gamble

On February 14,
2018,  when a troubled, former student,
opened fire with a semi-automatic rifle, killing 17 people, and injuring 17 in
Parkland,  my life, like so many others,
was irrevocably changed.  I live
in a town just a sneeze away from Parkland, and the Stoneman Douglas High
School massacres affected me in a very personal way.

Romancing the #Superhero #romance

Hi, I'm Pippa Jay, author of sci-fi and supernatural stories to engage your emotions.
And when it comes to superheroes, I don't really need to persuade you to love them...do I? Is there anyone who doesn't love them? And even, occasionally, loves the villain too (or even instead). I guess you're probably feeling some serious withdrawal symptoms after Avengers: Endgame - I know I am. So I

Which Witch Novel is Your Favorite?

By Diana McCollum

Happy fall and Halloween! When spooks or ghosts or spirits (not sure which one is correct) walk the earth, and witches fly by in the night.

I had never read any kind
of witch
paranormal books. And then one day, I was on my lunch hour from work and walking
in Safeway. Near the checkout stand was a rack of books. One cover in
particular caught my eye, “Breath of Magic”,

Everyday things are special by Lynn Lovegreen

Note: This blog was first posted on lynnlovegreen.com.

As an Alaskan, I’m used to visitors oohing and aahing over our mountains, moose, and the other things that stand out about my home. Now I’m traveling Outside, and it’s my turn to be the visitor noticing all the things that make the Lower 48 different. Here’s a short list of things that are novelties or interesting to me:
