Contemporary Settings: In the Here and “How”

By Robin Weaver

As an author whose first love is
mystery/suspense, I keep scenery description to a minimum. Thus, the imagery I do include on the page has to carry a
lot of impact. While the locale doesn’t have to be Rio de Janeiro exciting, any
setting information must be pertinent to the plot and more than “just a
little” interesting.

Unless I’m writing fantasy, I don’t typically

I'm Ready for Fall by Paty Jager

Summer came and is quickly sliding into fall and I am struggling to feel as if I had a summer. While I enjoyed every minute of the last three months, I am having trouble digesting that they have come and gone.

June I was preparing for my trip to Iceland and ventured forth the end of the month. Up to my trip, I also jet-boated up the Snake River for research. Then July and August I pinged

True Romance - More than Chocolate and Flowers?

Sarah Raplee here.  I
write Romantic stories in several sub-genres of Romance.

Today’s Blogversation
is about defining what romance is to you, and sharing what you find romantic.

I think the Wikipedia definition of romance is a little dry,
but on point:

“Romance is an emotional feeling of love for, or a strong
attraction towards another person, and the courtship behaviors

Travel Adventures in Writing

by M. L. Buchman

Well, last month I messed up and used this month's theme of "Adventures in Travel" for last month's blog post about writing the book of my bicycle journey around the world:
https://romancingthegenres.blogspot.c...

I figured that this month I should look at my "travels" in writing.

Recently I was part of a small group discussion about the

Travel Tale

By Courtney Pierce

Photo: Clash of the Titans

My 13-year-old stepdaughter rebelled about our recent move to Kalispell, Montana. She didn’t want to leave her friends, nor did she want to have to attend a new school. All her insecurities released like the Kraken. She even accused us of “ruining her
childhood.” Personally, I love to relocate. It's a chance to explore, meet new friends, and

Turn Left to Find Mr. Right

Oh my the on going saga of looking for Mr. Right. What exactly makes a Mr. Right???
             Looks???
                Bank Account balance???
                    Past relationships???
Remembers the name of your childhood dog that you mentioned one time in passing???
                           Great cooking skills???

The list goes on and on. And in truth it varies

The Allure of Staycations

By Linda Lovely

In what now seems like a former life, I frequently traveled on
business throughout the United States and occasionally to Mexico, South
America, and Europe. Now I seldom venture beyond the Carolinas.

Yet I still
have the opportunity to enjoy beautiful and varied vistas as well as vibrant
urban areas. I also get to share the regional sights and delights with family

Come Away With Me

I'm pretty sure most of us love to travel. Whether it's just to somewhere in our own State, a bit further afield or overseas. It usually means we're off to see and/or do something interesting and new. While I love the excitement of being out and about in a new city or small town, or even exploring more thoroughly somewhere I have been before, for me a big part of my enjoyment also comes from

Adventures in Travel... by Delsora Lowe

I had planned on telling the story of when I was ten, and my
father was assigned to work in Taiwan for the Agency for International
Development in the early sixties. After flying to San Francisco, we had a few
days to explore the city, driving up and down steep hills in a convertible,
with my mom in a panic
