When You Feel Like No One Likes You
Do you ever feel like no one likes you? I remember sitting in my house when my kids were little, thinking that the only person who liked me was our one year old—and she liked everyone!
The truth is, people did like me back in those days. But I was so insecure, I didn’t always believe it. The following is an excerpt from my journal on one of those days almost 12 years ago:
11/18/2004 Beliefs:1. Megan (not her real name!) doesn’t like me.
Truth: This is possible. I’ll never know unless I ask....

Do you ever feel like you want to change, but you just can’t seem to make it happen? Often the reason we can’t change is because we’re trying to change in our own strength–and we’re not strong in that area of our lives.
Romans 12:2 tells us what to do if we want to change: renew our minds. There’s just one little problem. It’s hard to make ourselvesdo that! That’s because we believe lies.

29: 6 Steps to Breaking Free From Self-Condemnation
One of the things I’ve struggled with as a writer is self-condemnation. I’m not a Type A person who is capable of getting a lot done each day, but for some reason I expect myself to be. When I fail to live up to my unrealistic expectations for work, I often slip into self-condemnation mode.
This gets in the way of growing and becoming a more productive person because I’m too busy beating myself up! If you struggle with self-condemnation like I do, today’s episode of the Christian Habits Podcas...

Is Perfectionism Ruining Your Quiet Times?
Over the past year I’ve had several women tell me they struggle with perfectionism in quiet times. This manifests itself in a few different ways.
Sometimes people will feel like there’s no use having a quiet time unless they can have a long one. Or they might struggle to figure out what to do during a quiet time or feel like they have to pray a certain way in order for God to listen to them. Or they may want to come up with the perfect Bible study system or perfect book to go through.
Perfectio...

28: Help for Emotional Eating: Bible Verses & Questions
Do you ever feel like everywhere you look the news is bad? It’s also bad in our valley right now. Yesterday we had a major fire blow up in in the mountainsand it looks like several structures have been burned. This was the view from just down our street yesterday.
When life is hard like this, it’s easy to get discouraged. And when we get discouraged, we often give into emotion...
