Six Sentence Sunday – 7/24
And another week in the books to bring us to Sunday again. Friday saw the release of the first short in the Sypricon Masters series, Impulse Control, so I thought I'd share six from it. Vaughn is introducing Selene to his very unique impulse flogger (gotta love writing futuristic/sci-fi and getting to invent/enhance BDSM tools ). Enjoy!
Vaughn's hand smoothed the curve of skin on Selene's bottom, and brought a touch of cool before the bands hit her skin to heat it again. It enhanced her desire, drew it out, and lengthened it so time seemed to stop.
Tingles started deep down inside her, rolling through her body with a force so powerful she couldn't give it a name. Whatever it was, she tried to latch onto it just as Vaughn severed any sort of connection he had with her body.
The climax screamed in protest and retreated, leaving her panting and disoriented at the sudden loss. Vaughn's hand cupped her ass and ignited a new fire that caused her to gasp loudly.
For those new to this, the rules are simple:
1) pick a project – a current Work in Progress, contracted work or even something readers can buy if you're published
2) pick six sentences
3) post 'em on Sunday

Impulse Control Releases
I've always liked the idea of a series where the central character in the books wasn't a living breathing person. Instead, it's a place. The Sypricon Masters shorts have allowed me to do that. Each short I write, I get to expand the club, Tawse, and its members, and the Doms. I get to learn more about the group of people who live on this planet, learn what brought them there. I get to play with a technology I developed just for this series and create different things and items with it–you'll see it employed full force in Impulse Control.
In short, it was just freakin' fun!!
But with all this development, the ladies of the series didn't want to be left out. So, you'll get a Planetary Deputy Chief Marshal who needs an escape. A Deputy Brigade Manager who is having trouble moving past a fatal fire she helped battle. And a racer on the Aeronautical Racing Circuit who desperately needs to forget her own fame.
Hopefully, there will be a man or two who wants his story told as well.
But for now, come join Planetary Deputy Chief Marshal Selene and Vaughn in the kick-off book for the series, Impulse Control.
Planetary Deputy Chief Marshal Selene Orasova is looking for a reminder pleasure still exists in the universe. Fresh off her latest case, she heads to Tawse, a BDSM club on the planet Sypricon. However, upon her arrival she finds the club almost empty as nearly all the staff has been hired out for the night. Disappointed, she starts to leave, only to walk face first into a wall of muscle.
Vaughn, one of the few Doms at the club Selene hasn't been under the command of, is immediately intrigued by the hard edged cop. A few instructions and she's easily under his guidance. However, Vaughn quickly discovers Selene has a problem relinquishing total control. She likes to top from the bottom and that isn't something Vaughn will stand for. Determined to correct her, Vaughn pushes her limits with a little impulse control.
Warning: This book contains explicit sexual content, graphic language, and situations that some readers may find objectionable including but not limited to: D/s, bondage, flogging
Starting off, you can find Impulse Control at Decadent, Amazon and Smashwords.
And tomorrow, keep an eye out for the Cyber Launch for Impulse Control and we're going to party!!

Need a Stiff Drink?
I'm over at the Decadent Author Blog today talking about Impulse Control and why my characters will never go thirsty in the BDSM clubs I create for them. More specifically, what isn't served at the bar, regardless of the genre of the book.
Come see what is served behind the bar at Tawse: http://decadentpublishing.blogspot.com/2011/07/never-go-thirsty.html

Six Sentence Sunday – 7/17
With Ragged Edge's release last week, I thought I'd give one last snippet tease. Erin's coming out of subspace, and what a trip it is…
She was the universe and all its heavenly bodies rolled into one. A simple package presented to Dalton and Cade to make them feel like masters of this new world they'd created for her. It was as if she'd been built to provide this sliver of time to these two men who had quickly come to mean something to her.
The thought of those men was what began to ground her, pulling her back from the natural high her body had adopted. She fought it at first, wanting to go back to that borrowed heaven, because in it there was perfection. A soft caress, the gentle brush of lips against overheated skin, pulled away the gossamer edges of the euphoria.
For those new to this, the rules are simple:
1) pick a project – a current Work in Progress, contracted work or even something readers can buy if you're published
2) pick six sentences
3) post 'em on Sunday

It's Not Always About the Shock Value
Thought I'd take this opportunity as I straddle releases (does that sound dirty to anyone else?) to take a moment to talk about word choices in my books. Not everything I write uses 'contemporary language'. In fact, my latest, Ragged Edge, is a story that uses more of that explicit language than any of my previously published stories. Why? To be honest, it was something the characters, and story, dictated. Even when I did use that explicit language, it was a conscious choice on my part to relegate it to where it was character, and situation, appropriate.
One of the main characters, Dalton, is the founder of Second Circle, a BDSM club in Atlanta. While the club is not a prevalent part of the story, Dalton is (obviously). While he's not at the club anymore, that little detail is very telling about him as a character. In the snippet I posted on Tuesday, a line is said from Cade to Erin in reference to Dalton:
He is raw sex and I assure you, completely uninhibited.
The last part of that sentence is what is most important and plays a key role in language choice for Dalton. So, yes, if you read Ragged Edge, you will encounter this 'contemporary language' quite frequently from Dalton. He uses it very easily and in fact, it wasn't what I had planned for him. The first time I wrote a section where he does use it, I wasn't even aware of it–that's how natural it is for this character. It was only later in the day when I re-read what I'd worked on that I realized it and was a little shocked to see it sitting there in black and white. I wanted to delete it, to be honest. But I kept it and as I developed the character even more, I realized it was there for a reason–and it stayed.
As I said, that language choice has to be appropriate for the characters and the story.
Now, for comparison, Impulse Control, which releases on July 22nd, does not share the same level of language as Ragged Edge. Perfect Limit, which is just finishing up edits, doesn't either. Now, the same can't be said for No Restraint which should be starting edits very soon. It's not frequent, but that contemporary language is there because it's appropriate for that character.
For me, that word choice is not–and never has or will be–about shock value.

Ragged Edge is Here!
Well, it's that day – Ragged Edge is available at Ellora's Cave! http://www.jasminejade.com/p-9448-ragged-edge.aspx
I've always said I love creating tortured heroes in my stories. I love being able to create a character who either has to overcome, or already has overcome, extraordinary circumstances. I love the process of giving them a new life, and, yes, sadistically sometimes, tossing a whole wrench in their lives to see how they deal with it.
This book is no exception. All three characters have problems of their own without adding in the building triad relationship. Their arrangement just complicates matters even further. Please join these three characters on their journey and I hope the story resonates with you as much as it did me.
Dalton is no stranger to hitting rock bottom. He's worked hard to turn his life around. Now he has a quiet life, a successful business and a no-strings-attached arrangement for sex with Kincade. Everything is just as it should be. Then a late-night rendezvous is interrupted by a sexy newcomer, and Dalton realizes something is missing.
Caught up in the intense passion the men share, Erin finds herself fighting her desire to run or to get between these two hard bodies. She's convinced her attraction is wrong. However, a little persuasion from both Dalton and Cade convinces her she belongs with and between them.
Erin's surrender becomes Dalton's reawakening. A BDSM master, Dalton is in his element wielding command, and soon the threesome fill their nights with mind-blowing pleasure. But when a piece of Dalton's past resurfaces, it threatens the very foundation he's built and could put him back at the bottom.
Warning: This book contains explicit sexual content, graphic language, and situations that some readers may find objectionable including but not limited to: D/s, bondage, m/m, m/m/f, anal play/sex, voyeurism

Ragged Edge Teaser
As I take a deep breath and try to keep calm as Ragged Edge's release approaches (tomorrow!!–I always get fidgety before a release) I thought I'd share a little teaser:
Erin watched Dalton wind his way to the bar. Men and women both openly stared at him, extending invitations with their heated glances. Though he returned their looks it was more out of courtesy than any real interest.
Cade shifted in the booth and she froze as he brushed a strand of hair behind her ear. His lips soothed her skin and his hushed words skated across her nerves.
"I see how you look at him and I know what you're feeling. You don't understand it but there's something that's pulling at you. Drawing you into him. He is raw sex and I assure you, completely uninhibited. He doesn't even have to do anything and the power just pours from him. They can smell it. Taste it in the air when he comes near them. He is completely unaware of how much he controls a room just by standing in it."
Dalton leaned against the bar completely at ease. In fact, Erin thought he'd looked more relaxed than she'd ever seen him. This atmosphere was his element and it clearly showed. As he stood there so tranquil his tight jeans outlined every inch of those muscular legs, clinging to every sensuous curve she wanted to sink her teeth into.
He shifted, giving her a clearer view of the hard line of his erection under the button fly of his jeans. Curious, her gaze lifted and met the fathomless gray eyes as he grinned at her. He'd positioned himself that way on purpose.
She tamped down on the immediate hot flush that sprouted between her legs. "He knows."

Six Sentence Sunday – 7/10
It's nearly time! Ragged Edge releases this Wednesday. Remember when they say nothing comes without consequence? Dalton is a big fan of that…
"Cade." At Dalton's stern warning, Cade broke their kiss and Erin realized the blood in her veins pulsed for this man as much as his companion. "Finish what you have to say to her now, or I'll put you up on the stage after Angie's done and show the audience exactly what happens when a sub goes against clearly stated orders."
Cade nodded toward Dalton. "My apologies for overstepping. I simply thought Erin should understand what she'd capable of."
"And we'll show her another time."
For those new to this, the rules are simple:
1) pick a project – a current Work in Progress, contracted work or even something readers can buy if you're published
2) pick six sentences
3) post 'em on Sunday
