PRISM Finalist & Six Sentence Sunday – 5/22

No Gravatar

Taking a moment before today's SSS post, so please forgive your fearless leader for her faux pas. But I found out  a few days ago that my sci-fi/futuristic/space opera, Midnight's Ghost, is a finalist in the Futuristic Category of the Romance Writers of America Fantasy, Futuristic & Paranormal Chapter's 14th Annual PRISM awards. It's among some fantastic company and I am thrilled just to be a finalist! :D In fact, I'm still pinching myself in shock.

So how about six sentences from Midnight's Ghost and I drop you right into the thick of things?

I continued to watch Wallace level man after man when they volleyed shots in return as they fought for their lives. A few men got hits in, but Wallace didn't seem to notice.

I winced when a lower ranked officer managed to get a shot past Wallace's defenses and the blast tore away the fabric of his shirt at the shoulder, burning through skin, tissue and muscle all the way to bone. Wallace's form didn't give a hint to the amount of pain it must have caused, but I suspected the levels of endorphins and adrenaline tearing through him was enough to make him unaware of any such pain.

His face a distorted mask of rage, Wallace raised the damaged arm, leveled the weapon at the officer's head and pulled the trigger. He spun on his heel and continued on his mission before the man's lifeless body even hit the deck plate.

For those new to this, the rules are simple:

1) pick a project – a current Work in Progress, contracted work or even something readers can buy if you're published

2) pick six sentences

3) post 'em on Sunday

Six Sentence Sunday – 5/15

No Gravatar

A busy weekend here as I finish up a project and start a new one, so how about six sentences from the newly released Forged in Fire? In keeping with last week's hot theme…

"You wanted me to be louder," I reminded him.

A chuckle resonated deeply in his chest. "What about now? Can you be as loud as I like to hear?" His fingers slid between my legs, and lost in his words, I willingly opened for his touch with a deep sigh of pleasure. "I have always loved the sound you make when you come."

1) pick a project – a current Work in Progress, contracted work or even something readers can buy if you're published

2) pick six sentences

3) post 'em on Sunday

New Release – Forged in Fire

No Gravatar

The love triangle that ignited in Blood Fever finally comes to a boiling point in Forged in Fire

…and nothing will ever be the same again.

Forever changed, Evande struggles to piece the remnants of her life together. Caught between the two very different men she loves, she fights for a balance. However, just as everything falls into place, the Elders viciously strike out, leveling everything around her.

Warning: This is a molten title. Contains elements some readers may find objectionable: Violence, blood, foul-language from a smartass Fae king, a newbie vampire unashamed of his kinks and a scintillating m/f/m bath scene that's hot enough to steam mirrors

Six Sentence Sunday – 5/8

No Gravatar

With Forged in Fire releasing tomorrow at Liquid Silver Books, I thought I'd give one last look (pssttt…there's a contest here to win it before you can buy it that ends tonight @ 9pm EST). Warning, there's some hotness of the 3-some variety ahead:

"I don't care whose turn it is–"

"Remember you said that later," Quinn stated as he palmed the back of my neck and captured my mouth for a searing kiss. My entire body, already on a precarious ledge after the slow orgasm Logan had just given me, screamed for more.

I sped past reason and logic.

Logan's chest hitched behind me and his finger curved over the top of my thigh to move between my legs again. His finger pressed hard against already over-sensitized nerves and Quinn swallowed the sigh I gave in response.

Release Date for Forged in Fire & A Contest

No Gravatar

Forged in Fire finally has a release day – May 9th!

That's…next Monday.

8O

Time for a contest!

As vampire Evande Austin tries to adjust to her new found abilities, she can't fight her new reality. She never intended to fall in love with two men. But she also never intended to take Fae blood to keep her alive either.

Trouble lurks in the shadows and Evande fears she will not be able to control the raging blood fever that burns through her because of Quinn. Thanks to Logan, the man who gives her anchor, Evande is able to maintain a thread of sanity in the blinding chaos.

When the Elders strike out and her future tumbles around her feet, Evande realizes the two men give her a bond she is unable to survive without. They need her just as much as she needs them. Giving into them both could just be the one thing that saves everyone.

But one thing remains clear—nothing comes without a cost.

Caught in the fires of passion and destruction, Evande struggles for a balance that could either burn or forge her anew.

Warning: Contains a smoking hot menage a trois

You can read the first chapter here: http://www.sarabrookes.net/rebirth-series/forged-in-fire/

Want to win a copy? Leave a comment on this post and I'll draw a winner on Sunday, 4/8 at 9 pm (EST).

Six Sentence Sunday – 5/1

No Gravatar

How another six from the upcoming, Forged in Fire:

The whisper of steel against leather was unmistakable and I realized Quinn had pulled out a knife.

As he expertly flipped the blade around, he used his other hand to pull at the collar of his shirt. The first few buttons popped free as the fabric ripped and before I could blink, a line of bright red blood bloomed across one side of his chest.

"Drink," he ordered firmly as he cupped his hand around the back of my head and pushed my face toward the slice.

Hunched over in order to block prying eyes, he turned me so my back was against the rough blocks and spoke forcefully into my ear. "Drink, God damn it, or all of those people out there are going to die by your hand."

Roller Coasters

No Gravatar

How exactly do roller coasters relate to writing? Oh, in a very big way.

I've talked about The Lift Hill before and the long climb it can sometimes be. But today I'm talking about The Crest over at Paranormal Romantics and sharing some big news. Come check it out!
