Barnes & Noble to close more stores over the next decade

Happy Tuesday morning to everyone! The first thing I do before I get to the matter of business is catch up on the latest publishing and book news and was I disheartened to read about Barnes & Noble closing even more stores. According to Huffington Post, the top store executive, Mitchell Klipper, says at least 20 stores a year will go the way of the axe. New Client: Letitia Fairbanks, author of children’s book ‘Princess April Morning-Glory’

In the whole almost 6 years I’ve been touring authors online, I have never had a tour quite so unique and endearing as this one. Letitia Fairbanks died in 1992, and in her honor and memory, Kelley Smoot Garrett, published the last book she ever wrote – a beautiful one-of-a-kind children’s book titled Princess April Morning-Glory. Kelley is her step-daughter and has even quit work for a few months to bring her step-mother’s book to life. Seventy years after it was written, Princess April M...

Is it ever too late to become a bestseller?

Sorry I haven’t been blogging the past few days. I’ve been vegetating mostly in front of the TV (go Ravens last night!) and not for lack of something better to do but mainly because I haven’t been feeling all that great and I needed the rest. I want to say it was blissful lying there helpless, but I could count a million other things I would have rather been doing believe me.

It’s Sunday and time to go over all my authors’ tour stops for next week and make sure we don’t hit any problems an...

Looking for authors who have been published in the Amazon Singles store for interview

Are you an author who has been published in the Amazon Singles store? To check, here’s the link. If you can find your book there, I would love to ask you a few questions for an article I’m writing on the subject. I’m interested in the process, but more importantly, I would like to know if it was a profitable thing for you, why you are doing it (is it to promote your other titles?) and other important questions that will make this article helpful to other authors thinking about doing the v...

Seniors embrace self-publishing: half self-pubbers are seniors

It’s no secret seniors make up for quite a huge percentage of self-published books. I love it. Self-publishing intrigues me and I am chomping at the bit to jump on the bandwagon and see what all the hubbub is all about. I was asked to join a self-publishing group at LinkedIn yesterday and even though that’s just one more thing going into the email jungle which infuriates people who email me and I can’t seem to get back to all of them right at the moment and it’s days later when I’m apolog...
