Busy July – The Climb #866
Today was my last day in the new Warcraft zone of Korthia. I mean, I’ll still be doing dailies their tomorrow but I won’t be playing all day.
Over the last week, I’ve not only unlocked the area, but I’ve taken all my alts there and done the unlock quest for the reputation.
In an ideal world with no limits on time, I’d do dailies on them all. But it’s taken me a week just to do the rep unlock. Instead, I’m going to focus on my main and raiding main and try and keep them...

Intros – The Climb #865
Today was always going to be an odd day. Warcraft Wednesday is tomorrow and as such, getting stuck into anything today would just result in that momentum being broken the next day. So the plan for today was to do some prep work.
I want to do a bunch of videos. These can take a lot of time, but my experience doing the vlogs means that I have an idea how to speed up the process.
One of those is having the intros done so they can just be slotted in like a piece of LEGO. To...

WoWcation Day 3: Archivist’s Codex – The Climb #861
This is day 3 of my Warcraft mini-break. Today, I worked on my alts, trying to find some rhythm to the weekly grind.
I need to do dailies in order to get the weekly renown quest done, which currently requires you to do a lot more than the weeklies took in 9.0. Back then I could get them all done in about 30 minutes each. 1 Renown from the save souls, and one from the world boss. I’d leave the weekly 100 anima quest to fill up over several weeks. They are alts, after all...

WoWcation Day 2: Korthia – The Climb #860
If yesterday was about enjoying the new Warcraft patch cinematics and story, today was about getting my alts into the new zone and ready for the patch going forwards.
My intention here is two-fold. One it is to keep my alts current. That doesn’t mean having them raid ready, but it means having their gear at a level that means that, if for example, there’s a really good quest or event with a big gold drop or a chance of a mount, I can do it on all of them.
The second is t...

Summer WoWcation – The Climb #859
I always take time off for Warcraft expansions. Rather than enjoy the new content at a slow and moderate pace, I have found myself so hungry for something new that I rush through it.
In the past year, I’ve started streaming some of my gameplay and as such, I’ve made myself slow down, read the quest text and actually enjoy my first playthrough.
This is what I did today with the release of 9.1. Even so, there was a huge amount of stuff to do. I ended up streaming for 8 ...

Mission Accomplished – The Climb #858
As regular readers will know, the way I’ve kept sane during the pandemic is by playing World of Warcraft. I created myself an army of alt characters and have used them trying to make gold.
When I got heavily back into the game nearly 18 months ago, we were in the long wait for the next expansion. I set myself the goal of gathering 5 million gold to buy the time-limited brontosaur mount. I failed. I made some gold but I didn’t have professions and had left the mammoth t...

Ready For 9.1 – The Climb #857
This week was supposed to be my week off.
The original plan was to have The Accursed complete, be thoroughly drained from the work, and then take a couple of weeks off to recharge. Admittedly, by the time they announced the first new Warcraft patch in 7 months would be released I knew I’d not make my own deadline, but it could have been so perfect.
Instead I have a novel that needs completing, a project that needs revision, and a bunch of video projects I want to start
To ...

The Loss Of A Day – The Climb #856
One thing I’ve not yet mastered is working with distractions when away from home. I’m not sure it’s possible, yet I have all my tools such that, theoretically, I can work from my mobile.
However, I got a call last night that a friend was having to rush to A&E (nothing life threatening thankfully) and I had to go pet sit as at that time we had no idea when they’d be back. Thankfully I have a key and the spare room is always made up, so staying over wasn’t a problem. But t...

My Updated Productivity System – The Climb #855
Today was another productive day. I’ve got a great little set up here now since my upgrades in Notion.
I have a daily log, with my working day broken down into hours. I fill that in as I go with what I’ve been working on. The idea isn’t so much to police myself as to see where my focus has been. Too much in one direction or other and I can pivot quickly the next day.
It also links into my weekly database. That’s split into two areas… planning the week and then review...

A Day Of Motivation And Productivity – The Climb #854
I don’t know where it’s come from but today I was hit by a sudden burst of productivity.
I have a few projects on the go right now: The first draft of the accursed, revisions to the outline for Powered (which got added to the table this week).
These are enough to keep me busy. But with the arrival of a new mic that replaces the one that went wrong in December, I want to do some Warcraft videos. I have a Warcraft focused second Youttube channel but so far I’ve just stuck ...
