Why My Twitter Is Suspended – The Climb #838

Wednesday 9th June 2021

Typically, today would have been Warcraft Wednesday and most of my day would have been spent doing the weekly quests on all my alts.  But C is having workmen in tomorrow and it clashed with their covid jab, so I’ll be house sitting.

As a result, it will be unlikely I’ll be able to concentrate if other people are around, so I’ve moved Warcraft Wednesday until tomorrow.

A lot of my time today has been spent on my suspended Twitter account.  Back at the end of March, my Twit...

Caffeine Comedown – The Climb #837

Tuesday 8th June 2021

I have been so tired today, and I’m not sure why?

I did wake early, but it was the new season of Fortnite today so it wasn’t as if I was running around in my freetime.

I suspect it could be that I’ve cut down my caffeine consumption.  I did this a number of years back and it did me the world of good.  However, as health issues raised their ugly head, I needed caffeine to get me through rough days…. And then it became a crutch.

This is why I don’t take drugs.  I know myself ...

Courses – The Climb #834

Saturday 5th June 2021

The way my productivity system works is that it works both up and down.

The “up” way is the most obvious.  I have a task management system in which I do tasks.  Completed tasks go towards completing milestones which in turn completes goals.

Last year I added a “down” component to my system.  That means that I set my goals at the start of the year and break them down into milestones for each quarter, which result in tasks.

Then each, week, month, quarter, I review where I a...

A Good Use Of Time – The Climb #833

Friday 4th June 2021

I joined an online conference talking about SFFH publishing today, and there’s part of me that wishes I hadn’t.  First, let me say that I think all the speakers were excellent and presented well.  I know all too well how nerve racking it can be talking to a crowd, especially on such a subject.

But,  I just don’t think I was the target audience for this, and as a result I’ve been left wondering if I could have better spent those three hours writing.

I did about 3000 words tod...

Post Pandemic Concentration – The Climb #832

Thursday 3rd June 2021

I love it when you have what feels like a unproductive day, and you still turn out some 3500 new words.  The novel seems to be progressing well now I’m into the second act.  I’m still plagued by the odd doubt but my mental reassurance that it can be fixed afterwards seems to be doing its job.

Of course, I would have loved to have written more.  I probably could have written more but I spent a lot of time in between sessions on Fortnite.  Ideally I should just limit myself ...

Gaming Day – The Climb #831

Wednesday 2nd June 2021

Wednesdays is my gaming day, dictated by the World of Warcraft weekly resets.  As with previous weeks I went through the long and laborious task of doing the weekly world boss and souls quest on all my level 60s.

It took me about 5 hours.  I’m pretty sure I could be faster, but it’s meant to be a bit leisurely.

Truth is, I currently have a bit of Warcraft burnout right now.  With the raid done and almost all my characters leveled to 60, I just need to do some professions....

Good Writing Days – The Climb #830

Tuesday 1st June 2021

At the moment, days can largely be categorised as either good writing days or bad writing days.

As we head into June my focus for the next month is to get the first draft of The Accursed done.  That currently feels like an impossible target.  Despite feeling like I’ve already been writing this for forever, I don’t feel I have the word count to back that up.

There’s still a long way to go.

But finally, my writing sessions are getting longer.  I’ve gone from 300 – 400 words i...

Seasonal Writing – The Climb #829

Monday 31st May 2021

I’m not sure what it is but there seems to be times of the year I’m better at writing books.  There’s a May – June  – July window and another one in November.  The latter could possibly be attributed to NaNoWriMo.  Even if I’m not taking part, there’s long been a tradition of writing in November.

I’m not so sure about the May / June period though.  Maybe the better weather lifts my mood and that results in my wanting to write more.

The trouble is that with this time of year ...

The Dreaded Act Change – The Climb #828

Sunday 30th May 2021

After such an active day yesterday,  I didn’t feel bad about having a lazier day.  I literally crashed out last night and thought I’d wake late, but it seems when I’m really tired, I can’t sleep.  Go figure.

I did some writing today so I’ve continued to make progress.  I made the mistake of checking my wordcount.  It’s currently at around 33,000 words which seems low considering how much time I’ve put into it.

I’m not sure if this was the reason or if I was just feeling nega...

Geocaching Expedition – The Climb #827

Saturday 29th May 2021

I’d planned for this week to be my health week.  The idea was to get out and moving while the weather was nice but for one reason or another, that just didn’t happen.  I sit down for long periods of time and it’s easy for me to become so detracted that I don’t move for hours. I forget to take breaks to get up and stretch.

I’ve done a couple of videos for C recently.  They’re into their trading card box breaks so I’ve been lending my camera equipment so they can film them. ...
