State of the TAM - Sept 26
Not me! I am headed in a southerly direction! Geographically, not theologically…at the current minute anyhow. I had thought there wouldn’t be too many crowds, but since the Rapture didn’t happen there’s still traffic. Ah well.
So I’m on my way down to Cobh, with a few detours along the way. Kylemore Abbey, where I was today, wasn’t exactly on the straightest route, but literally no one can stop me doing what I want!
So, just a recap of some stuff and photos for this newsletter! The pups are still cute!

My story, Company Ink, arrives on 9th December—and it’s full of holiday warmth, heartfelt romance, and just the right touch of out of this world fun.
Don’t get him wrong, Davy hadn’t been thrilled to end up face-down in a shallow grave…but he’d not been surprised either. With the life he’d lived, and the work he did, it had always been a possibility. So he’d not been bothering to hold his breath–metaphorically speaking, being dead–for a chance to get his own back on his killer.
On the other hand, death was kind of boring…even for a mercenary who wore the stigmata of his sins as occasionally too-independent tentacles. So when someone opened a door to the living world for him he wasn’t going to say no. He figured he could knock out the revenge in a couple of hours and then spend the rest of his time on this side of the Veil getting take-out, getting laid, and getting into fights. …the order didn’t matter.
Unfortunately, it turned out to be a bit more complicated than that. If Davy didn’t know better, he’d have thought this whole set–up was the universe trying to get him to learn something.
All Hill had learned was that death wasn’t what he’d expected. When he had opened the door to the afterlife he’d been prepared for winding sheets and bones, maybe a few chains. Not for the vengeful ghost to be a hot, dead man who’d mug him for his skin and bones. The tentacles had been a surprise too.
But then necromancy didn’t come with an instruction booklet, or a restart button.
The deal had been struck, and the two of them would just have to make it work.

State of the TAM - 26th Aug
Actually, based on the shelves in Home Bargains, Halloween is here already!
I’m not going to lie. I got this…and I regret nothing! She looks so happy!
In other news, I’ve got the final draft of my cover for Company Ink - part of Tinsel and Tentacles series! - and it is SO CUTE. I can’t wait to see all the covers, I think the theme will make it really awesome looking.
I don’t know when we’re doing a cover reveal on them, but I’ll let you know!
I’ve also got some news coming early next week that you should keep an eye out for (Flash in the TAM newsletter WILL be headed your way!).
I did take a few days out and went over toward Cookstown with the pups. I did not check the state of Lough Neagh and didn’t realize how bad the blue-green algae was. It was green as grass as far as the eye could see and it SMELLED. It was hard to explain the smell, it was organic but with a sharp, chemical element too? It ebbed and flowed with the heat of the day. The dogs were desperate to throw themselves into it, despite it being REMARKABLY toxic.
I did not linger there long and headed off to Pomeroy Forest with the pups and then down to Gosford Park for a night before I headed home. I am hoping to get over to Donegal while the other weather is still holding firm on not being awful :D I’ll keep you updated!

I had an absolute whale of a time at Indie Pride in Manchester. Good food, good coffee (so much coffee!) good people, and good fun! I went to Queer Lit, Manchester Museum of Art (absolutely awesome!), and House of Books and Friends.

@tamoorewritesThings I wish I had known when I started to self-publish? That just because it is ‘self-publishing’ doesn’t mean you have to do it ALL yourself. Find people you trust to do a good job and get them to take as much of the ‘not-writing’ jobs off your plate as you can. Also ask for help. Literally no-one will bite you for it! I would put money on it. Also forgive the general presentation! I went away for a few days and there is a heatwave. State of the TAM - 6th August
Me! Up in the air, that is. On Friday I’ll be off to Indie Pride in Manchester and I CAN’T wait. It’s my first year and I’m wild excited! There will be good craic, good food, and great books…what’s not to love?

I am making a concerted effort to be ‘more better’ at social media this month, mostly by trying to do the August Growth Challenge by booktok strategist Bri. @tamoorewrites🫀🧛📝 Hi, I’m TA Moore. I wrote Bone to Pick, Wanted - Bad Boyfriend, the Wolf Winter series and more. I’m doing the August Growth Month challenge and Day 6 is why you write the genre you write and… I write a lot! I write MM romance, but under that umbrella I have romantic suspense, urban fantasy, contemporary romance, and paranormal romance. So this took a while! It doesn’t help that I ramble and the dogs dropped by to say hello. …to boil down nearly 10mins of chat, some characters, some stories, need to be explored through different lens. I probably have the most fun with urban fantasy and romantic suspense, where I can throw a dead body in as a roadblock to romantic progression at useful moment. It’s harder in contemporary romance, where the obstacles to a happy ever after are much more mundane and, sometimes, harder to overcome. At the same time, some of the best moments I’ve written (I think) have been in books where all they had to reach their happy endings were the same tools we all have. No magic. No heroism. Just people being people. Yet at the same time I love writing urban fantasy and romantic suspense, because you have characters who have no reason to have faith in each other. No reason to have faith that there is love or kindness in the universe. Yet faced with the thought of NOT having it, they have to find it themselves to be kind, to be vulnerable, to open themselves to being hurt when they don’t have to. Also someone told me once I should focus on one genre, and I don’t like being told what to do. @amysheppardfoodSausage & Bacon Hotpot If I had to pick the dinner I've enjoyed the most over the last few weeks, this one would be right up there! Herby Sausages and smokey bacon in a garlicky tomato sauce, topped with cheesey sliced potatoes.... It's a proper hearty, great big cuddle of a dinner. It's the sort of dinner you need on stormy days and sad days and 'just in need of a bit of comfort' days. This is my kind of Winter food. Don't be put off by the long(ish) list of ingredients. I reckon that you've probably got at least half of this stuff already I have written up the recipe for this below - I would love to know what you think of this one, A x Feeds 4 500g maris piper potatoes Oil for frying 8 lincolnshire sausages 200g smoked bacon lardons 1 red onion finely sliced 100g spring greens tough stems removed and finely sliced 2 cloves of garlic finely chopped 2 tbsp plain flour 1 tbsp tomato puree 500ml chicken stock 400g tin baby tomatoes 1 tbsp finely chopped fresh rosemary 20g melted butter 80g grated cheddar cheese Peel the potatoes before slicing them widthways as thinly as you can get them. Place them in a bowl of cold water to soak. Change the water a couple of times to get rid of the starch. Heat a good drizzle of oil in a large, deep non-stick pan that can go on the hob and in the oven (don't worry if you don't have one, you can transfer the filling to an ovenproof dish to finish.) Slice the sausage skins and discard them. Tear each sausage into 3 equal pieces and add to the pan with the bacon lardons. Fry for 5-7 minutes on a medium heat, turning over regularly until the sausage is browned (it won't be cooked through at this stage) and the bacon is starting to crisp. Remove from the pan and set aside. Add a little more oil if needed, before adding the onion and the spring greens to the pan. Fry for 5 minutes, stirring regularly until soft. Add the garlic to the pan for the final minute. Stir in the flour and tomato puree and fry for 1 minute. Add half the stock and stir continuously until it thickens and comes to the boil. Repeat with the rest of the stock. Stir in the tinned tomatoes and gently pop them with the back of a spoon. Stir in the rosemary, season with salt and pepper and return the sausage and bacon to the pan. Gently bring to the boil. drain and dry the potatoes Give it a final stir, before carefully laying the sliced potatoes on top, each one slightly overlapping the next. Brush with melted butter and bake in the oven for around 40 minutes or until the potato is cooked. It shouldn't have been this difficult.
All Ryan wanted was to leave his ex-boyfriend at home and go to his childhood best friend's wedding as a single man. The only problem was that apparently he was the only sane person he knew. His actor ex didn't want their break-up on social media until it would be good PR for him. Meanwhile the bride, and childhood best friend, was so rigorously superstitious about bad omens that the wedding would have been cancelled already if someone hadn't 'seen' an extra magpie at the engagement party.
So Ryan had agreed to keep the break up quiet until after the honeymoon. It did mean he had bring his ex as his plus one to the ceremony, but it would only be a few more weeks. That couldn't hurt.
