naps!! guest blogging by christopher jarecki... my husband

Hi there - my husband Christopher has written some blogs for me to share with you.  I'll be posting blogs from him and from other guest bloggers from time to time.  Enjoy!

"I am a firm believer in the nap. We are one of the only cultures that frown on the nap or make you feel like you are lazy if you take a nap. When we were children we took naps every day!

You don't want to take a nap too long though! Here is how to nap:

-Set an alarm on your phone or something for 20 minutes
-Lay down and...

an update on my fav NYC restaurants!!

Eating in New York City is total heaven.  I can't get enough of my faves - Candle 79 and Pure Food and Wine.

Candle 79 is has always been a staple for me but now they have nachos and they are great!  I would recommend starting off with an order of Angel's Nachos moving on to the Seitan Piccata and finishing your meal off with the Cannoli or Chocolate-Peanut Butter Bliss.  Yum!

And I can't stop going to Pure Food and Wine... it's insane!!!!  Start with the Master Cleanse Martini made with sa...

sra. martinez in miami

Hello to all of my Miami people!  A friend of mine was just telling me about a restaurant called Sra. Martinez that I would like to try next time I'm in Miami.

The restaurant is owned by Miami native Michelle Bernstein who has been a guest on Iron Chef and Top Chef.

It's not strictly vegetarian or vegan however there are a bunch of veggie options on the menu. The Arugula Salad Crispy Artichokes and the Cauliflower A La Plancha sound great!  I'm told that Michelle will put together a vegan ...

a gaythering storm... and other funny or die videos

Some of you might have seen a video that I did with Funny or Die last year called "A Gaythering Storm".  It is a parody "The Gathering Storm" an anti-gay PSA made by the National Organization for Marriage last year before the Prop 8 vote in California.

Jane Lynch Sophie Bush Lance Bass Sarah Chalke are some of the funny people in this video. It was so fun to make.

Anyways I just got the news that "A Gaythering Storm" was nominated for a Human Rights Campaign E-Hero...

the deal with horse-drawn carriages...

I saw The Misfits a while ago the John Huston film with Clark Gable and Marilyn Monroe.  I ran out of the theater in tears.  They do roundups in the film which is how we get horses in the first place.  We capture them kidnap them and take them away from their lives.  Horses form tight-knit bands and this shatters their social structure.  Fouls are taken from their mothers and they are placed in a traumatizing unnatural situation.  This movie is a great example of why it's awful to take hor...
