On Camera
For those who may be interested in taking a look at my first-ever Cable news clip…
This is from Blue Ridge Cable 11 in Lancaster County, PA. They came out and talked to me when I was signing in Lititz on July 13th. It’s always fascinating to me to see all the questions they ask and then what they actually use/splice.

??
It’s been rather quiet around here lately and I’m beginning to wonder if it might be time to go to a once-a-week format. So, while I ponder that, here’s where I am today.

On Your Nightstand
What are you reading right now?
And once you’re done, what’s next on your TBR pile?

Spreading the Flame (#2)
If you’ll remember from last week, I’ve decided to spend a little time each week spreading the flame of kindness. Last week’s watermelon cookies were a hit with the police officers. They appreciated the gesture (and the treat), and I felt like I had a chance to acknowledge a group of people who work to keep everyone safe.
This week’s flame is flowers. After I dropDD # 1 at work this morning, I’ll be stopping at A & P to pick upa pot ofcheerful flowers which I will then take to a nearby nursin...

A Wrap Up
The end of last week was spent talking (in two different venues) about HEARSE & BUGGY, the first book in my new Amish Mysteries. The first event had me speaking to folks at Clymer Library in Pocono Pines, PA. The second event had me speaking at Aaron’s Bookstore in Lititz, PA.
Both events were lots of fun as they have me in direct contact with people who read. Some of the folks have read my work along the way. Others, haven’t, and so these events are ways for them to get to know about my books...

Bits and More Bits
Okay, so yesterday’s blog didn’t go over so well. Hopefully today’s Bits & Pieces does better.
1) What one author would you like to meet (no, this is not a fishing expedition)?
2) Car or plane?
3) Have you ever spotted a celebrity while out and about? If so, who did you see and where?
4) First concert you ever went to?
5) One movie you could watch again and again?

Switching Roads
These days I’m working on sewing circle #8. At this point, I know the characters so well that everything just sort of flows. Or, atleast it did until yesterday…when one of them decided to surprise me and get a little testy. Now, suddenly, there’s a sub plot I hadn’t been counting on and a whole new layer of conflict to contend with.
Oh how I love it when that happens. In my books, anyway.
I’ve noticed that when my characters do this to me, it always makes the story better. Always.
Now, I’d lik...

With a Fresh Pair of Eyes
I don’t know about you, but I always get a kick out of seeing things through other people’s eyes. It’s as if it allows you to see something for the first time again, too.
I remember when DD # 2 found her shadow for the first time. We were walking behind the carousel in Disney’s Magic Kingdom when that discovery happened and I’ll never, ever forget the fascination on her face as she realized it went everywhere she went. She squatted, it squatted. She turned, it turned. She stood tall, it stood...

Spreading the Flame (#1)
I’m dispensing with the usual “Tuesday Reading” posts until the end of summer in the hopes of igniting a flame. Only, this particular flame is a wee bit different than the one that sits on top of a candle. Yet, in many ways, it’s that candle flame–in particular the one you pass from candle to candle during a Christmas Eve church service–that got me going with this idea. An idea I hope you’ll all think about helping me spread…
Sometimes, when I look around, I feel like the world I wanted to liv...

Kicking it into Gear
As I move into the final few weeks of yet another deadline, I find myself searching for that extra kick of motivation that gets me where I want to go in life.
My office is still clean (which helps).
I know where I’m going with the story (which helps, too).
And I have a mental carrot hanging over my head to get the book done (a guilt-free week off, followed by the chance to work on a brand new project for a few weeks).
All I need to do, is sit in the chair and write. And this time, instead of placa...
