THAT Place

I’m off to DMV today (for the second time in as many weeks) and dreading it already.

Here’s hoping it goes smoothly…

What’s a yearly (or so) place/chore you have to do that you dread?

Dream a Little Dream With Me…

Today, I’m dreaming about the moment I press “send” on my latest book (should happen Feb. 1st). Because once I do, I’m taking a total me day…

Complete with a pedicure, a good book to read, and some serious vegging! :)

What’s got you starry-eyed right now?

Food Again

I think the post I wrote about comfort food for The Stiletto Gang today, has me unable to think about anything else but food.

So, today’s Bits & Pieces are about comfort foods.

1) When you were little, what food (if any) made the prospect of medicine better?

2) When you’ve got a cold, what’s your go-to food?

3) How about food on a cold day?

4) Favorite go-to food on a really hot, hot summer day?

5) What would you pick (food-wise) if you were celebrating a special accomplishment?

Instinct To The Rescue

“Your mind knows only some things. Your inner voice, your instinct, knows everything. If you listen to what you know instinctively, it will always lead you down the right path.”

~Henry Winkler

I love that quote. Why? Because I think it’s dead on. Instinct is that voice that tells you not to do something when you shouldn’t. Instinct is that voice that tells you to run when you should run, walk away when you should walk away. And, honestly, I think if we all listened to that voice–even if it only...

Snow Day!

It’s a SNOW DAY!!!!

Got the call from the school at 5 a.m. and roused the kids just enough to tell them they didn’t have to wake up for school.

According to the weather guys, it won’t last long as it’s expected to start raining. But, in the meantime… :)

In 1978 there was a HUGE (and I mean, HUGE) snowstorm that hit the northeast. I think we had over 2 feet. My brother and I built an alpine track (with raised walls and everything) down the side of our hill for our roll-up sleds. I will never forg...

I’ll Take Three!

I thought I’d share some cool finds from last night with all of you.

First, LET IT SEW and HEARSE AND BUGGY both made it onto Sharon Gallagar Chance’s Top Ten Books of 2012 List (Sharon is a reviewer for Fresh Fiction). With the hundred or so cozy mysteries that come out in a year, it is an honor to have one of your books land on this list. To have two was extra cool! :)

Here’s the link to that list: http://freshfiction.com/page.php?id=4690

Next, HEARSE AND BUGGY made Laura Lind’s list of Top Ten...

Back to the 80′s

Saturday night, I donned some fishnet gloves and big hoop earrings (yes, I remembered the pik in my back pocket, too)for an 80′s party my husband and I threw. Two of the people in attendance are folks I’ve known since high school (one, even longer).Ittook no more than a minute or two (essentiallytakenup on introductions) before the 80′s talk started–your first concert, your first car, etc.

Then, after a half hour or so of that, we divided into teams (Babes vs. Dudes) andplayed some 80′s trivia....

A Special Day

For little kids, birthdays are big days. It’s full of birthday cake, lots of attention at school, presents, and saying a bigger number when asked “how old are you?”

Then you hit middle-age and you’re not so keen on that number getting bigger, or, at least admitting that number is getting bigger. But as my friend, Maggie, always says…it’s better than the alternative.

And she’s right.

So todayI’m going to spend my day doing things that make me happy. I’ve got the bonusdollars I’ve accumulated at...

Happenings

I think we’re getting one of those glorious “January Thaw” days today. In fact, if the weatherman is correct, we just might make it to fifty degrees which sounds wonderful in my book.

My morning into my early afternoon is pretty much taken up with writing and a list of to-do’s that need to be accomplished, but after that I think I’m heading outside for a walk. Making a point to walk several times a weekwas on my personal goal list for the New Year and I’ve not done a very good job with that on...
