It’s All Relative
Historically, I’ve never really been a “comparison shopper.” I tend to shop based on experience and reputation. Meaning, the first brand I purchased of a particular item that served me well, is probably the same brand I’ll continue to buy.
When my 16 year old Saturn finally ran down, I bought another. When I’m out on the road, thinking about something other than cars, I’ll still notice every Saturn that drives by (whether it’s the samemodel as my 1992, my2008, or one in between). Why that is,...

Even Now
A week or so ago, the dinner conversation turned to storiesDear Daughter # 2 has read in school this year. Many of the ones she mentioned, I’m sure I probably read, too, but I don’t really remember them. But the moment she mentioned Poe, all of those stories came rushing back.
The guy under the floor boards…
The guy strapped to the table with the pendulum coming closer…
I read a lot of short stories and novels in my school days, but it takes a little thinking to remember them all. Yet, I found t...

Raking The Weekend Away
I spent the better part of the weekend raking and shredding leaves thanks to the huge number of trees on the property. There’s still a ton more to do (why can’t they just keep their leaves?!?), but we made headway. At least in the back.
I, in turn, hurt from head to toe from all the bending and scooping. So, by the time bed time rolled around last night, I was more than ready to get in the horizontal position and not move.
Thatwas my weekend (oh, I also made applesauce muffins and brownies )....

Which One?
Jumping right in, today…
1) Dogs or cats?
2) Snoopy or Bugs?
3) Quiet evening for two or party?
4) Comedy or drama?
Have a great weekend, everyone!

The Voice of Reason
Every Wednesday night, while Dear Daughter # 2 is in dance class, I head to either Panera or Starbucks for my weekly chapter bullet point session. This is when I plan out the next 4 or 5 chapters of my work in progress and make bullet points about the main things that need to transpire in each of them. It keeps me in touch with the story and gives me a roadmap of sorts of the next week of actual writing.
I’ve been doing the chapter bullet point thing for a while, but this weekly session starte...

Isn’t it gorgeous?

Photos From the Road
I thought maybe you’d all like to see a few pictures from my book tour this past week. And while I was very bad about taking pictures during my North Carolina events, I managed to score a few during my Nashville, TN signing on account of the fact I actually handed my camera off to folks around me.
Mysteries & More Bookstore in Nashville rolled out the red carpet for my arrival on Saturday afternoon. It was the store’s 5th birthday and they celebrated that milestone and my appearance with a ca...

One of a Kind
Way back when, when I used to dream of being a writer, I saw only the books I would write. For a ten year-old, that was a large enough image.
What I didn’t realize, at the time, was all the unexpected blessings that would come from that dream. Along the way I have been fortunate to meet people I never would have met if it hadn’t been for that dream. Like-minded folks who found their way into my heart and became my friends.
One such person, was Wilfred Bereswill.
We met years ago while he was wor...

On The Road Again
Okay, so I didn’t take any pictures yesterday (UGH!). But, the event went well and so did the drive.
Since today is more of the same (in terms of a signing, followed by a long drive), I think I’ll do a travel-themed Bits & Pieces, instead.
1) What’s the longest road trip you’ve ever taken? Where did you start/where did you go?
2) What’s a favorite road trip game you play?
3) If a lane is about to go away (for construction purposes), do you move over to the remaning lane right away or stay in the...

Update From The Road
Popping in for a quick update from the road. I’ve had three three events over the past two days and am loving every minute of them. I, of course, have failed miserably at the picture-taking aspect but I WILL change that today (and post tomorrow).
In the meantime, I’m giving a talk this morning at the Paige Walker Cultural Arts Center in Cary, NC today before heading west to Franklin, NC where I’ll be at Dalton’s Christian Bookstore from 2-6 tomorrow.
My car is packed with a bottle of Yoo-hoo, a...
