Trailer Friday

I loved "Battle of the Planets" as a kid. I once spent a whole summer just watching the reruns on TBS, back when it was the Superstation. (Which probably explains why I had no tan and zero dates.) So I'm both happy to know that there's a CGI animated feature length film, and disappointed to hear it's not coming out because the studio that made it went broke. Still, the trailer is pretty great. I especially love how the G-Force kids are laughing as they fight the alien robot. That, to me, is r...

Nazis in SPAAAAAAAAAAACE!

Gotta love these guys. Not the Nazis, the filmmakers. Rather than jump through Hollywood hoops, they're making the movie themselves.

iFail

I made the switch to Apple a few years back, and don't regret it for a second. (Contrast this with my friend Bill, who has been a Mac user for years and years, and bemoans being trapped in the Cult of Jobs.)

But the problems with the new iPhone made me realize that this is the first time Apple has actually acted like Microsoft. When customers point out a new product actually has flaws, tell them that's to be expected. It's a lot like Monty Python's Dead Parrot sketch: "Oh yeah. That's...

Planet Vampire

It's all vampires, all the time today. Which is not that different than any other day in my office, but still…

Trailer is up for "Let Me In, the U.S. remake of "Let The Right One In." As if I wasn't still having nightmares from the original.

BLOOD OATH mentioned in SmarterTravel.com's round-up of summer reading. Also, new reviews at The Ya Ya Yas, Sarah's Book Journal, the Novel Bookworm, and Mondo Vampire.Vampire causes car crash in Colorado.Kurt Busiek and Daryl Gregory (author of the...

"You Will Believe A Man Can Walk."

BLOOD OATH in Borders, Washington D.C. (Thanks, Em.)

All right, let's see what the Internet is hurling at my skull today…

*Superman refuses to fly; starts walking instead. No, seriously. Lex Luthor is now the hero of Action Comics. And Lex is apparently shacking up with Lois Lane. Cripes, now there's a metaphor begging for a national audience…

*Time Inc. and Politico, which got beaten like drums on the McChrystal story by Rolling Stone, responded with what was, basically, a dick move:

...

And now, this.

The latest Philo news: Carter Beats the Devil — which features Philo Farnsworth as a character — gets a new chance at the big screen.
We're all gonna die because we're so stupid we don't even know how stupid we are. Happy Monday, everyone.
Mickey Mouse, drug pusher:
What if someone built an iPod in 1977? (Via BoingBoing.)
FEARnet to become a basic cable channel. I won't say it's because they interviewed me about BLOOD OATH, but you can't rule it out.

Offroad

Home again. One more date on the tour, in Bakersfield, but at least there are no airports involved. Time to sort through the mail and see what's been piling up on the Internet while I've been away.

But first, some shameless self-promotion:

BLOOD OATH made the Denver Post's Top 10 bestseller list. I owe it all to my brother and his wife, who have bullied all their friends and neighbors into buying it. Never underestimate the persuasive power of two Harvard-trained lawyers.

And the trailer is up...
