The Republican Grand Plan
When Bush was reelected in 2004, I pondered the implications of eight years of a Bush administration. That was when I perceived a possible long range plan of the Republicans. My initial reaction was the plan was too preposterous to consider. To my intense disgust, recent events and polls show that the plan is working.
The Five-step program:
Basically, then plan consists of President Bush screwing the county in every way possible: economically, fiscally, militarily, diplomatically...

Free Speech
Is America great or what? Where else do people have the right to be an idiot? Where else can someone do stuff that is incredible stupid and not got arrested. We can legitimately burn our flag. We can legitimately burn holy books (in accordance with environmental laws). We have the right to act like complete imbeciles claiming divine intervention for our actions (provided the actions don't break any laws)
The unspoken problem with free speech is that it implies that people will use the...

Gun Buyback Program Deemed a Success
(Hanque Faux News Network)
The gun buyback program in Bergen County, NJ was a huge success said a spokeswoman for the Sheriff's Department. "We took seventy-seven guns off the streets in one week," she said. "Over the course of the one month program, we took in two-hundred-fourteen guns. That's a lot of firepower the criminals no longer have. The money spent will make our streets safer."
Our reporters interviewed a total thirty-five thuggish-looking participants and everyone of them...

Tea Party ideas
As an independent voter accustomed to making up my own mind on issues, I'm interested in what the Tea Party and other right-wing conservatives have to say; they may have some good ideas that I'd support. Alas, I have no idea what they are talking about. Take back the country? From whom? Who took it? Are they referring to the Democrats who are trying to fix the mess Bush left behind? Are they talking about some other group? I'd really like to hear some names or groups attached to...

Ipad & E-reader Apps
A funny thing happened after I bought an Ipad; I started buying books again. I usually check out books from the library, several a week. I routinely visit three libraries in the area to find books I want to read. I generally don't order books on-line because they are expensive and don't get delivered for a week or so.
Once I got my Ipad, things changed. First I downloaded the Amazon kindle app and the Barnes and Noble app. With the built-in Istore app, I now had three on-line bookstores...

A Battle Won by S. Thomas Russel
Another book about the British navy and its battles against Napoleon' French navy. The action takes place in the Mediterranean around Toulon and Corsica. The main character is a British officer named Hayden who commands a frigate that saw a mutiny against its former captain. Hayden was an officer on that ship, but not part of the mutiny, but his name is now linked to infamy in the British navy. This is a good yarn with lots of action and it leaves off with the promise of much more to come ...

Wastelander Author Interview
Manda Bensen, a British author, talks about her latest book, Wastelander.
How did this story come about? Did a newspaper or TV story trigger the process?
When I was a kid I was remember watching the binmen through the window. They came every[image error] week and emptied all the mess I'd made out of my parents' dustbin, squished it flat in a machine, and took it away in a process that to me seemed almost magical. The bin lorry (I think it's called a garbage truck or something else in America) always had...
