The Friday Five!
1. I just spent about a half hour going through ALL the entries for the contest, and I have to say that they are all so good. I love seeing which quotes people picked, and how they resonated with different readers. It's incredibly flattering and, to be honest, a little emotional. I mean, you always hope that when you put a book out there that people will connect with it. But seeing actual proof, right before your eyes....wow. It's awesome. There are still about two weeks to enter, so if you have

A VERY late Wednesday entry, just for those of you who, like me, are sticklers for schedules and were unsettled by my erratic updating the last couple of days. For those who asked, things will indeed remain business as usual here on the blog, I'm not switching it somewhere else, and sorry for the confusion.
I swear, we're like an old married couple, so set in our ways. Oh, wait, that might be creepy. Moving on!

Three quick things
1. I am totally impressed by how many of you have taken the time to write in re: the great Salsa debate. I've read every comment and honestly, it seems to be pretty evenly split between those who believe it stays good for up to three months, and the two-week-max crowd. My husband is in the latter group, while I tend to hate to throw anything away, especially food (blame my frugal parents, who eat up EVERYTHING in their fridge, always). So I have a feeling we'll continue this discussion. Isn't th

I'm writing this on Easter Sunday afternoon, during a rare quiet moment of this very busy weekend. (And by quiet, I mean that my daughter is not here running wild, although the dogs are barking nonstop. It's all relative.) I know I used to do all my blogging on weekday mornings. But I've realized that the mornings are so busy now that my entries have gotten kind of rushed and sucky--not to put too fine a point on it---so I figured I'd try something new. We'll see how it goes.

The Friday Five!
1. On Wednesday, I shot a book trailer for Along for the Ride. We filmed part of it at a local bike shop, Back Alley Bikes in Carrboro, and part of it out at my house, and the whole experience was really fun and totally chaotic. Imagine me and the camera guy, Will, at Back Alley with lights and cords and cameras, and Jason and Ben trying to work in the background (they were so nice and patient to let us film there, I am in their debt forever) plus customers coming in with their bikes and questio

Sarah-land
Hi Everyone,
I'm hearing from several people that Sarah-land is down right now. I'm not sure what's going on---we're looking into it!---but in the meantime, you can go straight to the community site via this link .
Have a good night, everyone!

Whew.
So it's almost four-thirty pm on Tuesday, and I am ONLY just now recovering from the excitement of my Tarheels winning last night. Even though we had a good lead for much of the game, I was still on the edge of my seat, as I have seen us blow big leads and lose before (this season, even). Luckily, though, last night we held on. When the game was over, I jumped up and down, watched a few minutes of people flooding onto Franklin Street on the news (and hoped my babysitters were not jumping any bon

Okay, so I'll get this out of the way first: Woo-hoo! As in, my Tarheels are in the FINAL game of the NCAA tournament. It's tonight, I'm incredibly nervous, and it'll be a miracle if I can concentrate on anything else until 9pm tonight when tipoff happens. But I will try.
In other news, a reminder from my last entry: because of many impassioned pleas from my Canadian readers, we've decided to open up the contest to them as well. We were just trying to keep things simple, but you guys were so bumm

Okay, I'm doing a rare Saturday entry to say that I have heard you, Canadian readers, and I am opening up the contest to you. I'm sorry for the initial exclusion. It's just that this is a contest I'm doing, not my publisher, and I was trying to keep things simple. But after reading your comments I realized that I was foolish to exclude a group that clearly loves the books so much. So enter away! And good luck.
If you are outside the US or Canada, I'm hoping to enlist my publisher in doing a givea

The Friday Five!
1. Thanks to everyone who came out for my chat yesterday. Despite some technical issues, I got a lot of great questions and it was really fun. (Although when I couldn't see the questions and got logged off by accident I almost had a nervous breakdown, which was not exactly fun. But it was exciting!) When you do a lot of interviews and chats, you often get some of the same questions, i.e. "Where do you get your inspiration?" and "Which of your books is your favorite?" Every once in awhile, though
