Thank you.

So I had, like, the best pub day ever. First, there were ALL the nice comments people posted here, about how excited they were to read the book. Then, I had a busy morning and a great lunch at my favorite Carrboro sandwich place, Neale's Deli. (Turkey sub, sweet peppers, potato chips=heaven, seriously.) Then it was a flurry of emails and phone calls and tea parties (gotta do the tea parties) before I headed out to the Regulator.

I was nervous. I am ALWAYS nervous before readings, but with this o

Today's the day!

Along for the Ride is OFFICIALLY on sale! (I know, I know, some of you have had it forever, but today is the REAL pub day.) Hooray! I'm doing a lot of running around today before my reading (The Regulator, on Ninth Street, 7pm!) so I probably won't be able to do my normal routine of stalking bookstores and trying to be stealth to see where the book is and how it's doing. Which is probably a good thing. After all, there are deviled eggs to eat and coffee to drink and nails to bite. Okay, maybe ju

One day to go...

Book comes out tomorrow. Tons of stuff happening. You know what that means:

Some people bite their nails. Others eat junk food. Me, I make deviled eggs when I'm stressed out. It's better than smoking, right?

The eggs above were from a cookout we had this weekend, where I also tasted friend green tomatoes for the very first time. I know what you are thinking. Aren't you from the South? And don't people there eat fried green tomatoes, like, all the time? Well, yes and no. First off, I am a Souther

The Friday Five!

1.
I'm hearing from more and more people that they are finding Along for the Ride at their local bookstores. But see? They're not supposed to be out yet! I know it stinks for those of you who have to wait, and for that, I apologize. Soon, though:

2. Speaking of Along for the Ride, my friend Susane Colasanti is having a contest over on her blog . All you have to do to enter is leave a comment. Which, now that I think about it, is MUCH easier than, you know, taking a picture and editing it to add t

Okay, so things are starting to get REALLY busy. Like, the calendar on my phone is smoking it's working so hard busy. Which I guess makes sense, as we're coming up on less than a week until the official pub date. Suffice to say, I am working hard on taking deep, calming, yoga breaths. They may actually be more sort of gasping pants, but I am trying.

I'm hearing from a lot of folks who are finding Along for the Ride already in their local bookstores. I don't know what to say, other than I guess th

I write this at the end of a LOVELY birthday weekend, one full of family and friends and good times. And baked goods. LOTS of baked goods. My mother in law made me a gorgeous red velvet cake, my husband got me a supermarket birthday cake (I love me some supermarket cake, as non-gourmet as that sounds). My mother made me blueberry muffins AND gave me a supermarket cake sampler. Do they know me or what? What I know is that none of my cute book stuff wardrobe will fit if I eat even HALF of what I w

The Friday Five!

1. Tomorrow, I turn 39. THIRTY-NINE. My God, how did THAT happen? It seems like I just turned thirty. Or even twenty. Time flies when you're having fun, I guess, or maybe it just flies. I know that next year will be my year to really freak out, so this birthday seems like a gift already, even without the amazing blog series Adele is doing over on her site, The Sarah Dessen Diarist. To be honest, it's been a little hard for me to read all these nice entries from such awesome authors. I feel like

Hello, and happy.....wait, what is today? Tuesday? No, it's Wednesday. I think. Yes. Wednesday.

I'm a little scattered with all this traveling, clearly. Last night, I got home from a quick hop to Michigan, where I went to film a segment for the Borders Book Club, which is basically an online series where authors get to meet with their readers and discuss their work. It was REALLY cool: myself and ten great girls, at this awesome house, just chilling and talking about Along for the Ride. With, you

Whew.

So I'm back from BEA and New York....and about to turn around and head out to Michigan. It's so bizarre to not even really unpack your suitcase, you're leaving so soon after you arrive. Especially since the last time I went out of town was, um, months ago.

Anyway. BEA was great, of course. I got to have dinner with old friends, a lunch with a new one, and got to meet a TON of readers and other authors at the show itself. BEA is a HUGE convention, and this year it was at the Javits Center, which i

wow.

Okay, so just ignore the time stamp on this. Yes, it's 5:40 am. Yes, I am scrambling trying to get finally packed and ready, in the dark, while the rest of the family sleeps. But I had to stop to say this: THANK YOU. Thanks to all of you who bought Lock and Key in paperback over the last two weeks, it is now my very first NUMBER ONE BESTSELLER. Yesss! I am honestly still in shock. I was so busy yesterday that when Allison called to tell me I thought she'd just forgotten another trip detail or la
