Good morning…

…from Dallas, where, armed with more free time than I've had in ages (and a lot of coffee) I am attacking my To Do lists and email inbox with shock and awe. Watch out! Also, my hands are shaking. They make strong coffee here in Texas, apparently. Better switch to water.

I was supposed to fly out here yesterday afternoon, after enjoying a leisurely morning packing and hanging out with my kid. Instead, I got a text at 5:45 am telling me my flight had been canceled, which meant calling the...

The Five!

1. I know I am WAY off my blog schedule right now, mostly because I don't even know for sure what day it is. But I think it's Friday? *checks phone calendar* Yes! Friday. Okay. It's obvious my brain is kind of scattered (like the ocean is "kind of" big and deep). I have not felt this forgetful and stupid since my daughter was a newborn. I keep walking into rooms, spinning, forgetting what I came for, forgetting what I am saying AS I SAY IT. And I think I have already told you guys that in an ...

the tour, continued….

Okay, so I'm writing this blog post from the back of a car, as I'm being driven to the airport to fly to Nebraska. It feels so productive and business-y! If I start to feel carsick, though, I'm stopping.

There is no other word for the last two nights of readings than AWESOME. Seriously. First, on Monday night, I got to go to one my favorite hometown bookstores, Quail Ridge in Raleigh. I have such love for this store for many reasons, but especially because they were one of the ONLY stores...

catching up…

So somehow, it is Sunday evening already. And I leave on Tuesday morning. WHAT? I know. I have barely unpacked and done laundry and now I need to gear up to head out again. First, though, I'm doing a local reading at Quail Ridge Books in Raleigh TOMORROW night, Monday the 16th, at 7pm. I'll be bringing some t-shirts and water bottles, and the hardest trivia questions I can come up with, so come on out!

And then:

Tuesday, May 17th: Anderson's Bookshop, Naperville IL 7pm: I did an event at...

tour is ON!

Hello from Denver, CO, where it is….well, raining. But no matter! I'm still excited and so happy to be here. I mean, mountains! Come on!

So far, the book release has just been so awesome, and I have all of you to thank for it. I can't tell you how great it was to be following everyone on Twitter as they got the book on Tuesday. Thanks to everyone who posted pictures of their books, and the displays at the stores. It was like I was there! Personally, I had a typical pub day, full of emotions...

It's finally here! My new book is NOW IN STORES. And, apparently, on Kindle and Nook as of midnight as well. Yay! It's like a giant book party, spread across all these states and time zones. Gotta love that.

For those who are here in MY area, a reminder that we're having our book launch party TONIGHT, Tuesday the 10th, at the Regulator Bookshop on Ninth Street in Durham at 7pm. I'll be reading, speaking a bit and signing books. Also, there MIGHT be trivia questions with Luna Blu...

Happy Mother's Day!

It's Sunday, Mother's Day AND Graduation at UNC. A lot going on around these parts, and that's not even counting the ongoing drone of the cicadas. Or, as my husband is referring to it, "the end of days soundtrack." Seriously, it is pretty creepy. Sort of like a car alarm, sort of like a spaceship landing, just the kind of hum that you can't ignore no matter WHAT you do. Want to hear it? Click here. *shudder*

To make all this even CRAZIER, not only are they humming, they are also leaving...

The Five!

1. I woke up this morning to find an email in my inbox from Borders with a huge picture of my cover on it AND links to my videos and an excerpt. Whoa! Much better than the beeping of an alarm. One of the videos I've already posted here, but the other I shot in my office a few weeks back, talking about summer reading recommendations. Of course, all I notice as I watch this is the pile of what LOOKS like laundry on the counter behind me. I promise you, it is not. Just T-shirts I was getting...

One week to go!

Okay, so it's Tuesday, my book comes out in one week. But May isn't just about my book, despite how self-centered and self-promoting this blog has become lately. (Bear with me, I have to make the donuts.  So to speak.) There are TWO big releases today that I, personally, have been looking forward to. First up is MOONGLASS, a debut novel by Jessi Kirby. I got the chance to read this a few months back, and it's just one of those real girl's voices that I LOVE. So much so that I blurbed it:

May!

Okay, people. Today is the first of May. I can't deny it anymore: the book release and tour are coming up SOON! Less than 10 days now. Gulp.

But also: HOORAY! And this dichotomy, my friends, pretty much sums up my life right now. I'm so excited for the book to come out, can't wait for everyone to (finally) read it, am entirely pumped about getting out on the road and meeting my readers. But of course, at the same time, this means leaving my family for days at a time, which honestly makes my...
