Then again, maybe she writes to alert us all to listen with our hearts. I highly recommend this book." ~ 5 Star Review, sunnyrock, AmazonThe Trees Have Hearts: "The author writes a lovely story about a lonely little girl with a great big imagination. She turns her beautiful garden into her sanctuary of imaginary friends that remain in her heart and follow her into adulthood. The lessons to be learned in this story is love of nature, respect for nature and changes of nature from one season to the next. Just as children go through many changes from season to season. This would be a good bedtime story. reading a few pages each night nurturing your child's imagination and leaving them with sweet dreams." ~ 5 Star Review, It's Time to Read Mamaw, AmazonThe City Kittens and the Old House Cat: "The City Kittens and the Old House Cat is an inspiring story written from a cat's point of view. Illustrated with beautiful drawings and painted in vibrant watercolors, this easy to read picture book tells a touching story of the bond between a great grandmother (GG) and her granddaughter, a young child, whom she calls, her Mamela. GG and Mamela love each other very much and enjoy spending time together. When GG becomes terminally ill, Mamela, must learn one of life’s hardest lessons, to say good bye, for at least this lifetime
Kudos to Belinda Brock for taking on such a delicate subject matter and prudently incorporating it into a children’s story. It's a wonderful story for parents, relatives, friend and more, to read with young children who are facing the loss of a loved one. Also, hats off to Avi Katz, who brought the story more to life with her very talented illustrations. The Early Buzz"...simple but emotionally resonant illustrations...a nice, true-to-life touch...The book pairs an ethereal illustration with lyrical text, which truly captures the healing, transporting power of music in this setting. A welcome addition to children's literature about death and dying." ~ Kirkus Reviews"This book is beautifully written and illustrated. The author takes a difficult subject and weaves a story full of life lessons. The universal themes of life, death, family, loss, and chicken soup are shared through a child's eyes and remind us that even after one dies, love remains." ~ Jamie O'Malley, President and CEO, Midwest Palliative and Hospice CareCenter"GG and Mamela is a large helping of Chicken Soup for the heart and soul. It helps children cope with the death of a loved one in gentle and understanding terms. Belinda Brock has done a great service for children and parents alike." ~ Rabbi Evan Moffic, Spiritual Leader of Congregation Solel and Author"This is a WONDERFUL story for families who are grappling with loss, death and dying. A word about I'm With You: Baby loss is a difficult subject. The accompanying grief is complicated and heartbreaking. In December of 2011, my daughter lost a baby at eight months gestation to Trisomy 18. If you don't know what that is, I didn't either, until it happened to us. (You will learn all about this devastating condition during the course of the book.) I'm With You is a romance novel that includes my daughter's Trisomy 18 story. I knew I wanted to write about the experience one day, but it took me awhile to emotionally prepare myself to actually do it. It has been highly therapeutic. My daughter granted me permission to share her Trisomy 18 story with the hope that it will help others who are dealing with baby loss grief. There is a song written for and dedicated to the families of Trisomy 18 and 13 babies. It is beautiful and deeply expresses the love parents feel for these special babies. Now I Lay Me Down to Sleep

PurchaseAmazon | Barnes and Noble | Book Depository (free worldwide delivery)Also available at Walmart, Target, and Barnes & Noble stores. The Buzz"Like the best 21st-century human dads, the vehicles don’t just show their kids the ropes—they also offer plenty of TLC (“Cement Mixer Busy/ gives a hug if Mixie’s dizzy”) and affirmation (“Forklift Wise/ cheers whenever Forky tries”). Dean’s decision to anthropomorphize the construction equipment solely through a highly stylized, often single, forward-facing eye takes some getting used to—imagine a cross between the Eye of Providence on the dollar bill and a Egyptian hieroglyph. But his construction sign–inspired palette and ability to convey calm, steady affection between parent and progeny quickly outweighs this visual idiosyncrasy, making this a book worthy of any young armchair foreman." ~ Publisher's Weekly"This will make a good read aloud for those looking to update their trucks/machines storytimes." ~ Goodreads Review "The simple rhyming text will be fun at read alouds as children can do motions (roll, roll, roll or smooth, smooth, smooth)" ~ Goodreads Review

My Interview with Nikki
1. What are some of your favorite books from when you were a child and did any of these inspire you when writing your books?I loved the Chronicles of Narnia by CS Lewis. I think most of my fantasy inspiration came from those books. The other series I loved (being a horse freak) were the Black Stallion books, although oddly enough I haven’t written a book about a horse yet. Better put that on my list.
2. What books are you reading right now?I host a book blog and I’m also president of Firedrake Books, a MG/YA book publisher, so I read a lot of MG/YA indie books. Right now, I’m just finishing up “Power’s Out,” second in a YA trilogy by Rachel Meehan about what happens after climate change really hits and society falls apart. They’re really great books—but definitely for the young adult crowd and over, not younger kids.
3. Which authors have influenced you the most and how? CS Lewis and JRR Tolkien, because of the fantasy element. As an adult, I read the Harry Potter books, so JK Rowling also is a great influence. But I’ll have to say that writing-wise, Stephen King is my muse. I’m not naturally a horror type person, but every time I read a book by Stephen King, I think “this is how I want to write.” His style, more than the subject matter. Stephen King has also authored a book called “On Writing,” which is my writing Bible.
4. If you could invite any 5 authors to dinner who would you choose? Definitely Stephen King! JK Rowling, Ken Follett. If they were still alive, CS Lewis and Rudyard Kipling.
5. What is your favorite book of all-time (adult)? My favorite adult book is probably Pillars of the Earth by Ken Follett. It’s a great saga with a bit of mystery to it, lots of history, and just a fantastic writing style.
Thank you for the interview Nikki and all the best with your tour.
The Buzz"This was one of the most entertaining reads for the whole family we have found in a long time. The characters are very believable, and I am always a sucker for heroes that have to find their way. The reading is very fluid and easily understood by the little kids when read aloud (sounds silly but anyone trying to do this will tell you it's not as easy a thing to achieve as it sounds) and the kids all seem to enjoy the story. The history is easily accessible even without a lot of research or background knowledge. The kids are very motivated to research and learn more on their own because this story has captured their interest. I already have many home learning lessons in mind using this book and have begun developing them with my kids. I think this is a book that will be found in classrooms very soon! Great job! I'm looking forward to more soon!!!" ~ 5 Star Review, Mariah W., Amazon"Excellent read in and of itself, and provides excellent, character-building source material for reading to youngsters. The characters are well written and realistic, and the storyline is cleverly written and intelligent." ~ 5 Star Review, Alia K., Amazon"Fantastic read. I loved the characters in this book so much that I re-read to my 9 year old after finishing it. I highly recommend this book for anyone that likes stories about adventure and believing in yourself." ~ 5 Star Review, Keith, Amazon

The Buzz"I've seen and enjoyed this theme before, but never in a book for this age group and Ms. Quinn carries it out beautifully. The kids were fun and acted like kids, which makes them believable for all ages. The pace and action will keep readers flipping pages greedily. Also, telling the story from the two viewpoints greatly added to my overall enjoyment. Highly recommend for ages 9 and up." ~ 5 Star Review, Alan T., Amazon"I am a 10 year old boy. My mom recommended this awesome book to me because she knows Kai Strand, who knows Susan Quinn. I was hooked from the first paragraph! This is a wonderful ( and quite thrilling) story! Good for all ages and I wish I could rate it 100 stars! ... I can definitely recommended this to almost anyone! Good job to Susan Quinn. The story is balanced neatly between Zaneyr and Finn, by Finn's perspective in the first chapter, Zaneyr's perspective in the the next, then Finn again, and so on. Great book and is a must read." ~ 5 Star Review, Red Rose, Amazon"I LOVED this book. This is one of those books that grabs you and doesnt let you go. Susan Kaye Quinn is an awesome writer! Feary Swap is funny, well paced, and filled with adventure. It's a book no kid will want to miss. I especially loved the witty humor that kept me laughing page after page. The world building was vivid and phenomenal. I could just see this as a movie in my head. I liked how the author sneaks those educational moments in there without you even knowing it. A delightful book for old and young readers alike. Get it!" ~ 5 Star Review, Daddy's Girls Book Reviews, Amazon About the Author: Susan Kaye Quinn

So when he would wake her each morning, whatever she would say to get out of going became the subject for a PRINCESS FABLE. If she'd say, "I don't want to," he'd make up a tale about The Princess Who Always Said, "I Don't Wanna". If she pulled the covers over her head, he'd tell her the story of The Princess Who Hid Under The Covers. By the end of each Fable he'd have her dressed and ready for school, with her eyes wide open and full of hope... THE PRINCESS FABLES are eleven inspirational stories for young girls who may still dream of being a Princess. Each Princess embarks on an adventure of self discovery and along the way, learns about the importance of trust, devotion, courage and the power of love.
