Kristina and schoolmates go back to Bernovem ~ sequel to The Warble ~ The Shard ~ Book 2 in the Bernovem Chronicles ~ Only 2.99 on Amazon

Victoria Simcox’s fast-paced, intricately woven sequel to The Warble, takes Kristina Kingsly and her schoolmates back to Bernovem … and into a thrilling, often dangerous adventure.
Kristina’s stay at summer horse camp is horrible to say the least, and it’s all because Hester and Davina are there as well, making her life miserable. When Hester’s cruel prank goes terribly wrong, it’s actually what sends the three girls back to the magical land of Bernovem. In Bernovem, Kristina is very excited to see her former friend, Prince Werrien. When he invites her to sail with him on his ship to his homeland Tezerel, putting it simply, Kristina can’t refuse.
5 Star Review
“The Shard” is a awesome sci-fi young adult book that is part of a series I am now hooked on. It reminds me of the C.S. Lewis book series Chronicles of Narnia. This is actually the second book in the series..
The story includes a magical land, gnomes, dwarfs, fairies, a prince and more. The Shard has the main character, Kristina, arriving back in Bernovem meeting Prince Werrien. Back at home she is just a teenager who is a loner with no real friends, but in Bernovem she is the “chosen one.” Prince Werrien became her best friend two years ago in the first book, Warble, but now that they are a little older there is a somewhat budding romance building – don’t worry they barely even kiss! In this story, Kristina and Prince Werrien take off with their friends and even some unknown enemies on a ship to visit other lands.
After hearing a story, things start happening to Kristina and she tries to handle everything herself. Oh and two of her friends (or more like frenemies) come over with her to Bernovem which she also has to deal with. She is definitely a strong girl! The story is easy to follow and yet has so much of a good story line to it. It is also a somewhat quick read as the font is not super small and the story keeps you engaged. As an adult I love this series and I can only imagine how much young kids would find it.
I highly recommend checking out this book series (so far just two books) for any young reader, maybe ages 8 and up, or read them to your child and live the tale together. It is also a great book for both boys and girls as the main characters are both a boy and girl! Cherise Kachelmuss "Mom and More"

Reunited with her gnome, dwarf, animal, fairy friends … and best of all, Werrien, things seem like they couldn’t get any better for Kristina. But when Werrien becomes fascinated with an unusual seeing stone, the “Shard” Kristina is haunted by a ghostlike old hag. Struggling against suspicion, guilt, illness, and ultimately the one who wants to possess her soul, Kristina will see it’s in her weakest moment that she will encounter more strength than she has ever known.

| Barnes and Noble The BuzzCarlo the Mouse: "My son chose this book to read and really liked it. He rated it 5* and said it was "awesome". He's almost five. So that's a good fit. If I could make one recommendation, it would be to watch out for repeating the same sentence structure over and over. It's a minor thing but could improve overall flow. The pictures were adorable. Well done Mrs. D." ~ 5 Star Review, Simone B., AmazonCarlo the Mouse: "Another gem from Mrs. D.! This is the first in a series of several books, and the titles of those are just as intriguing as this one. The interchange between the characters goes beyond just rules and regulations. Even small children will see just how caring and loving this family is with each other. There are definitely different personalities, and conflicts, as in every family. Carlo’s is one that answers those challenges with love and firmness. The pictures are adorable! Every facial expression, every nuance of action, is so well-thought-out. The colors are appealing, and the story’s lesson is simple enough for even the youngest of readers. There is a challenge here in some of the vocabulary used in the book. I welcome that. The youngsters who get this story read to them are privileged in this regard, for they can learn new words and what they mean. A child whose vocabulary is extended beyond his or her comfort zone is a child who will learn and grow into an intelligent adult. I highly recommend this story, and hope that I will get the chance to read more of Carlo’s adventures." ~ 5 Star Review, Kitty Muse Book Reviews, AmazonCarlo the Mouse: "As a grown-up, I fell in love with this adorable character the moment I looked at the first illustration. I had as much pleasure reading this book as my son did. Sometimes, a sample book like this one, gives more to a child then books chosen by the school experts. Now we could hardly wait what the next book will hold. Thank you so much for making our children happy. Because of books like yours, our children will grow up happier, kinder, and smarter. Great story! Wonderful artwork! Astonishing children’s book! Because of books like yours, our children will grow up happier, kinder, and smarter." ~ 5 Star Review, Olga G., AmazonGood Morning, World!: "What a charming book of comparing generations and reminding us how children see the world! The illustrations are bright, colourful and sweet, and the story is so well written that it feels as though I am walking right beside the baby and grumpy Grandpa who clearly woke up on the wrong side of the bed that morning! Thank you for a lovely book, Mrs. D!" ~ 5 Star Review, Multi-Testing Mommy, AmazonGood Morning, World!: "This darling story of Baby Thomas and Grandpa was like I was taking a stroll along with them. The author must have pulled some of this story from a family experience. With her very creative imagination she must have been very tuned into actions and reactions of Baby Thomas. Then there was Grandpa who was very vocal and animated so she undoubtedly knew exactly what to write about Grandpa. Too funny! This book is a must read! I highly recommend this book." ~ 5 Star Review, It's Time to Read Mamaw, AmazonGood Morning, World!: "This was a charming book. Following the differing perspectives of the Grandpa and the child, this book is a wonderful reminder about the importance of a positive attitude. I LOVED the joyful wonder in the child's perspective, and cringed as I recognized some of the grandfather's. What I love about all of Mrs. D's books is that they share a message. They teach the adults as much as the kids. This message in particular touched me. It is a reminder about seeing from the eyes of a child. Exploring the world with an open mind, an open heart, and enthusiasm. Life is full of blessings, and sometimes we forget to notice them. Thank you Mrs. D for another 5 star children's book." ~ 5 Star Review, Kirstin P., Sunshine, Bubbles and Books About the Author: Mrs. D

Twelve-year-old Kristina Kingsly feels like the most unpopular girl in her school. Check out The Warble ~ $2.99 on Amazon

Book Review What a great book! When my elementary aged daughter saw the cover art with the faerie on it, she was immediately interested in reading it, so I let her read it first. She loved this chapter book full of wondrous adventures, and said she would like to read it again.
When it was finally my turn to read The Warble, I was impressed at how well developed the characters were, and how the story draws you in. I found myself thinking of the book when I wasn't reading it, looking forward to picking up where I had had left off!
This is exactly the type of book I was drawn to in my elementary and tween years, and even now as an adult, I find The Warble's timeless theme of good verses evil quite captivating. My tween age daughter is excited that it is now her turn to read the Warble!
I feel that Kristina, the main character in the book is a wonderful role model for children of all ages, proving that we all hold inner strength to accomplish difficult feats that we might not have thought we were capable of.
I recommend The Warble for children at chapter book reading levels, especially those who love fantasy! Moms who love fantasy books should borrow it when their kids are done reading it... it is so refreshing to be transported to another world in the middle of a busy work-filled day!

Synopsis Twelve-year-old Kristina Kingsly feels like the most unpopular girl in her school. The kids all tease her, and she never seems to fit in. But when Kristina receives an unusual Christmas gift, she suddenly finds herself transported to the land of Bernovem, home of dwarfs, gnomes, fairies, talking animals, and the evil Queen Sentiz.
In Bernovem, Kristina not only fits in, she’s honored as “the chosen one” the only one who can release the land from Queen Sentiz’s control. But it’s not as simple as it seems. To save Bernovem, she must place the gift she was given, the famous “Warble” in its final resting place. And she must travel through the deep forest, climb a treacherous mountain, and risk capture by the queen’s “zelbocks” before she reaches her destination. Guided by her new fairy friends, Clover and Looper and by Prince Werrien, a teenage boy, as well as an assortment of other characters, Kristina sets off on a perilous journey that not only tests her strength but her heart.
