Gypsy Book Blitz & Giveaway

Summary from Goodreads:Inconsequential: not important or significant.
Synonyms: insignificant, unimportant, nonessential, irrelevant
In the world of genetic mutation, Gypsy’s talent of knowing a person’s age of death is considered a failure. Her peers, the other Cavies, have powers that range from curdling a blood still in the vein to being able to overhear a conversation taking place three miles away, but when they’re taken from the sanctuary where they grew up and forced into the real world, Gypsy, with her all-but-invisible gift, is the one with the advantage.
The only one who’s safe, if the world finds out what they can do.
When the Cavies are attacked and inoculated with an unidentified virus, that illusion is shattered. Whatever was attached to the virus causes their abilities to change. Grow. In some cases, to escape their control.
Gypsy dreamed of normal high school, normal friends, a normal life, for years. Instead, the Cavies are sucked under a sea of government intrigue, weaponized genetic mutation, and crushing secrets that will reframe everything they’ve ever been told about how their "talents" came to be in the first place.
When they find out one of their own has been appropriated by the government, mistreated and forced to run dangerous missions, their desire for information becomes a pressing need. With only a series of guesses about their origins, the path to the truth becomes quickly littered with friends, enemies, and in the end, the Cavies ability to trust anyone at all.

Her family is made up of farmers and/or almost rock stars from Iowa, people who numerous, loud, full of love, and the kind of people that make the world better. Trisha tries her best to honor them, and the lessons they’ve taught, through characters and stories—made up, of course, but true enough in their way.

The Almond Tree Tour, Excerpt & Giveaway

Excerpt: Mama always said Amal was mischievous. It was a joke we shared as a family – that my sister, just a few years old and shaky on her pudgy legs, had more energy for life than me and my younger brother Abbas combined. So when I went to check on her and she wasn’t in her crib, I felt a fear in my heart that gripped me and would not let go. It was summer and the whole house breathed slowly from the heat. I stood alone in her room, hoping the quiet would tell me where she’d stumbled off to. A white curtain caught a breeze. The window was open – wide open. I rushed to the ledge, praying that when I looked over she wouldn’t be there, she wouldn’t be hurt. I was afraid to look, but I did anyway because not knowing was worse. Please God, please God, please God… There was nothing below but Mama’s garden: colourful flowers moving in that same wind. Downstairs, the air was filled with delicious smells, the big table laden with yummy foods. Baba and I loved sweets, so Mama was making a whole lot of them for our holiday party tonight. ‘Where’s Amal?’ I stuck a date cookie in each of my pockets when her back was turned. One for me and the other for Abbas. ‘Napping.’ Mama poured the syrup onto the baklava. ‘No, Mama, she’s not in her crib.’ ‘Then where is she?’ Mama put the hot pan in the sink and cooled it with water that turned to steam. -- Amazon

The Dragon's Egg Tour Guest Post & Giveaway

Tour Page & Schedule

Sure, the glass castle floating over Evan’s head makes him uneasy, but that’s the least of his worries. With each step inside the Dungeon of Dreadful Dreams, he must battle against his worst nightmares. One after the other, wispy smoke-filled bull sharks come at him — he must remember they’re only illusions pulled from his imagination by those dreaded shadowlike hands. If only the vengeful dragon circling above was also an illusion and didn’t have his mind set on destroying the one person who can control him: Emrys. Inside the castle’s glass tower, Emrys sleeps in an eternal slumber, and Evan’s uncertain whether he can save the great wizard. Especially now that Emrys’ former student, the Lady of the Lake, has joined forces with the cunning immortal Alamaz. Together they have already stolen the Dragon’s Egg, but their greed doesn’t end there. The Siren’s Pearl calls to them, and that means only one thing … Atlantis is in trouble. Join Evan, Claire, and Dunkle — along with a few other unlikely heroes — as they travel across the realm of Medieval Legends, float through the Ancient Isle of Avalon, plunge inside the Dungeon of Dreadful Dreams, and be there when Atlantis rises once again.

The Serpent's Ring (Relics of Mysticus- Book One)
Evan and Claire Jones are typical teenagers, forced to go with their parents to yet another boring museum … that is, until something extraordinary happens to make their day a little more than interesting. After following a strange little creature into a closed exhibit, Evan and his older sister, Claire, discover the Serpent’s Ring, one of the magical relics formed from the shattered Mysticus Orb. Purely by accident, they have awakened its powers and opened a portal to Sagaas, land of ancient gods. Before the siblings can comprehend what has happened, the Serpent’s Ring is wrenched from Evan’s hand by an enormous fish and flown back to Aegir, the Norse god of the sea. Evan and Claire, accompanied by a band of unlikely heroes, must retrieve the Serpent’s Ring before Aegir uses its immense powers to flood all the lands on Earth.

My dream interview by H.B. Bolton
C.S. Lewis: We’re delighted you could join us today.
Me: For me, this is a dream come true. I’ve never been to the Eagle and Child pub. I can see why you meet here. I could sit for hours, relaxing by the fireplace. In fact, I feel like I’m in the shire, nibbling chips with Bilbo himself.
J.R.R. Tolkien (pipe in hand): To be sure, to be sure.
C.S. Lewis: It is a pity we didn’t invite the others from our little group, the Inklings. You would be enthralled at the conversations we have.
J.R.R. Tolkien (chuckling through rising rings of smoke): I recall having a few deplorable ones as well.
C.S. Lewis: You know, Tollers, we shouldn’t discourage her from paying us another visit. After all, she did travel all the way from the States and had to cross through time just to offer us a little insight into the mind of a 21st-century fantasy author.
J.R.R. Tolkien: Agreed. Ms. Bolton, would you care for another pint?
Me (edging forward my enamel mug): Thank you, and please call me Heidi.
J.R.R. Tolkien: I’m interested in the concept behind the first book in your Relics of Mysticus series, The Serpent’s Ring. You know, I was practically raised on Norse stories. What inspired you to send your characters to Asgard?
Me: My ancestors came from Norway. Even my dad’s name is Norwegian: Thor. I thought it would be fun to have my characters, Evan and Claire, come across a few of the lesser-known gods and creatures from Norse myth. Did you know that the sea god Aegir had nine daughters, and each one was named for a different characteristic of ocean waves? What am I saying? Of course, you already know that.
C.S. Lewis: You don’t, however, include Norse mythology in your second book.
Me: I’m fascinated by all stories from mythology and tales from legends. In the second book, The Trickster’s Totem, I send Evan and Claire into the Native American Spirit World, where they must capture the mischievous Coyote Trickster.
J.R.R. Tolkien: Fascinating, indeed. My friend here and I often discuss how more stories ought to pull the human spirit into the realm of the divine.
C.S. Lewis: They do tend to add to life, don’t they?
Me: I think so. It’s my dream to inspire children by taking them to mythical lands.
J.R.R. Tolkien: Never forget that a single dream is more powerful than a thousand realities.
Me: Speaking of dreams, Mr. Tolkien, I once heard you experienced having the same dream come to you almost every night.
J.R.R. Tolkien: That is correct. Only, I refer to the troubling nightmare as my Atlantis-haunting. You see, in sleep I had a dreadful dream of the ineluctable Wave, either coming out of the quiet sea or coming in towering over the green inlands. Me: I’ve had a similar reoccurring nightmare. Only in my dream, the wave towers over the condominiums that sit off the Florida coast. A few times, there have been ominous sharks swarming inside the wave. My character, Evan, has had similar dreams. I open The Serpent’s Ringwith one of them.
J.R.R. Tolkien: My dream was somewhat exorcized by writing about it. You see, when Faramir speaks of his private vision of the Great Wave, he speaks for me. C.S. Lewis: Dreaming expresses the movement which becomes possible at a point where two worlds interact. Time then becomes dislocated, and both worlds appear dreamlike.
J.R.R. Tolkien: Quite right.
C.S. Lewis: In any case, Heidi, I’m quite looking forward to discovering what happens next in your series.
Me: Thanks. I plan to have Evan and Claire visit Avalon in the third book. A well-known wizard is in trouble, and could use their help and mystical abilities.
C.S. Lewis: Arthurian legends — fascinating subject indeed!
J.R.R. Tolkien: Might I assume dragons will be included?
Me: Well, a literary giant once said, “It does not do to leave a live dragon out of your calculations, if you live near him.”
J.R.R. Tolkien: Rather sound bit of advice, if I do say so myself.
Me: I believe you once did … or will one day.

Living Whole Without a Better Half Blog Tour

My Review No matter if you are single for the reason that you want to be or due to not finding the right mate, ‘Living Whole without a Better Half’ is an insightful, wonderful read. Wendy will take you on a journey through parts her life that all single or married folk can find something to relate to. She describes in short stories how she lives on her own and how it can be lonely and rafted with ongoing challenges. She expresses how she has managed without a spouse, and how she has learned to rely on her God and savior Jesus Christ, finding blessings and purpose in doing so.
What I loved about the book, is how humble Wendy is in describing her life as a single woman. She is not too proud to admit her frailties and iniquities. I also loved how she elaborates on certain Biblical characters, such as Abraham, Moses and more. She makes their lives relatable to the reader. Also, I quite liked the large side notes in the chapters focusing on some of the major points. At the end of each chapter there is a list of questions, making this read perfect for group discussions and Bible studies.
All in all, I found this book refreshing and inspirational. Wendy has great wisdom on the subject of singleness as well as explaining the trials, aspirations and blessings that the patriarchs in the Bible faced. I recommend this book to singles as well as married. There is something for all to glean in this book.

Missing Lily Blog Tour & Giveaway

Excerpt
Just as I started to relax, the sound of voices made my eyes pop open, and I sat up, forcing my breathing to quiet. The doors at the other end of the stables slid open and someone entered, carrying a lamp and shaking water from their clothes. “I’m not seein’ things, Lord Fallon. Someone is in here,” a voice whispered. I sat still, unable to move. The lamp shifted, casting two men in ominous shadow. “I believe you, Giles. That’s why we’re here.” His Lordship sounded not at all concerned, as though he were merely humoring his hired man. He sounded more tired than anything. “The lamp, Giles.” The light transferred to His Lordship’s hands, illuminating his face and leaving me astonished by his youth. He looked to be in his twenties, and I wondered how such a young gentleman held the title of Lord. “You’re sure it wasn’t an animal of some sort?” he asked as he took his first steps down the long line of stalls. He would find me soon enough, and yet this prospect didn’t terrify me as it had moments ago. Lord Fallon looked not at all frightening. He wore trousers, a loose fitting shirt that hung untucked, and a full-length coat that fell in languid folds from his shoulders. Water dripped from his rumpled hair, sliding down his face and into his well-trimmed facial hair. “T’weren’t no animal, sir.”“The horses aren’t agitated. They would be if someone threatening were about.” When the light fell on me, Lord Fallon’s eyes widened. I tried to push myself to my feet, but he drew a sword that I had not realized was hanging at his side and pointed it at my throat. I fell back against the wall, crouching, my chest aching from the heavy beating of my heart. “I don’t take kindly to vagrants on my property.” His fatigue had vanished. Now he looked menacing—terrifying. My voice was barely audible as I forced a reply. “I’m not a vagrant, sir.” His eyes narrowed in question. “Remove your hood.”I raised my hand slowly and pushed the fabric back. His eyebrows raised, even more surprised by my appearance than by my voice. The sword lowered. “Giles, take her inside and put her in front of a fire. She’s freezing.” And with that, he walked away and I slumped back to the ground, numb with relief.
