The Summer Sacrifice is set on No Place Island, the one remaining Island that escaped being destroyed by the Great Goddess in her attempt to destroy mankind.
The story focuses around the students (known as the ‘Juvenites’) of ‘Pity Me School’. Various students are put forward for ‘Takings’ at the school whenever there’s a full moon and are sent to a ceremony at an area called Dancing Ledge. Those with clean souls will survive, but any Juventie who is deemed otherwise is sacrificed and take

This book has an INCREDIBLE cover! Shame I can't say the same about the rest of it.
The initial problem is that you kind of go a while without really knowing what the premise is, what the story is. Basically, it's a dystopian fantasy; a civilisation on this island send their youth to dance by the sea every so often and the ones who are supposed to be wicked are taken by The Great Goddess. The main characters start to suspect that the island's corrupt government are actually behind the takin

The story follows Jamie Tuff as she discovers the truth behind the happenings at the island as well as discovers the truth of her powers. Jamie and her friends set out to save the souls that have been taken. The story is well written and has a simple plot that will keep the reader entertained. The book is more for children in the teens and such and it will appeal to their idea of fantasy and magic.

The characters are easy to relate with and well thought out. Each character has some ro

The Summer Sacrifice (Master Games Series #1 ) by Holly Hinton

I received this book from the Author in exchange for an honest review by the “Lover’s of Paranorrmal” Group on Goodreads.com
On a small Island the inhabitants follow the ritual of the “Taking”, which happens once a month. During the Taking the souls of teenagers are taken by the Goddess so as to stop the spread of evil through sacrifice. Jamie Tuff, the protagonist survives her taking. She thinks that she is safe to l

I was given this story by lop in exchange for an honest review. I am sad to say I had a hard time getting into this story. I usually read fictional books but this was rough for me. I don't know what to say that won't spoil it for others but I found the story line slow and too jumpy. There were too many story lines of characters trying to play the hero. And way too many back stories.

I do hope others will read the book. I am sure my thoughts are just that, mine. So give it a go, see what you thin

About the Author

Holly grew up in a small, sleepy village in Suffolk. The acting bug hit her at age nine when she was asked to play Baboushka in the school nativity. That same year, she played the lead role of a naughty black poodle in a pet parlour themed ballet, and she thought she had made it.

Years passed, but the acting bug didn’t. She went to Goldsmiths, University of L
