The teacher wanted something that was realistic instead of "genre," and I had wanted to work on an apocalyptic story. I have always been interested in anything medical, so I started a story about a girl being diagnosed with leukemia. I never expected to become so involved with it, but once I started I had to keep writing. The next thing I knew, I had finished my first book. :)(less)

Music Monday: Thinking Out Loud by Ed Sheeran

Mondays are hard, so let’s conquer them with music!
I love music; I listen to music in the car, at work, and it is also part of my writing process. Sometimes a scene may be inspired by a song or I find songs that relate to what I have written; either way I always have a separate playlist for each project I’m working on in addition to a master playlist of all the songs I come across Read more of this blog post »

“Life is like reading a book... Sometimes when you need to move forward you just have to start the next chapter.”
Christie Cote

“There is a flaw to your plan.” A sly grin crept onto his face once again. My eyebrow arched at him questioningly.
“I live across the street,” he told me; and, without another word, he turned around toward his house and I realized what he meant. I told my problems to a stranger that I would probably see again.”
Christie Cote, Rain

“He wasn’t kissing me like I was going to break; he was kissing me like he thought he would break without this kiss.”
Christie Cote, Rain

“We all didn't come into to the world at the same time so it makes sense that we don't leave it at the same time.”
Lurlene McDaniel, Too Young to Die

“When my grandmother was alive, she used to tell me that every time God creates a soul in heaven, he creates another to become its special mate. And that once we're born, we begin our search for our soul mate, the one person who's the perfect fit for our mind and body. They lucky oens find each other.”
Lurlene McDaniel, As Long as We Both Shall Live

“In truth, how much time do any of us really have?”
Lurlene McDaniel, Telling Christina Goodbye

“Pain and suffering are the soil of strength and courage.”
Lurlene McDaniel, Someone Dies, Someone Lives

“There is no pretending," Jace said with absolute clarity. "I love you, and I will love you until I die, and if there is life after that, I'll love you then.”
Cassandra Clare, City of Glass
