Small Pieces Disjointly Joined
When was the last time you discovered a new Blog? How did you feel in the first second after you arrived? Confused? Lost? Unsure as to what you were looking at?
That's the problem with Blogs today (ok, it's one of the many problems with Blogs today). In thinking more about the New York Times and their desire to get people to pay for content (see more on that thought here: The Moment Of Truth), a lot of people have commented that they could get their news elsewhere or that they get a lot of t...

The Moment Of Truth
Are people willing to pay for what you do?
You can create great content. That content can generate all kinds of traffic and attention. That traffic and attention can bring lots of healthy conversations and comments. Over time, those conversations and comments can lead to a vibrant community. That community is there for you and will support you. But, the big question is: would they be willing to pay for it?
We're about to find out as The New York Times announced that they are setting up a...
Killing ROI
How do you measure success? If this were a high school cheer, it would probably end in: "R-O-I!"
Ahh, the elusive ROI is Social Media. If yesterday's Blog post (Social Media Gurus - That Old Chestnut) didn't provoke some thought and commentary, then trying to crack the elusive Social Media ROI will surely get your noodle boiling. Richard Binhammer (from Dell's Social Media team) gave a private presentation yesterday and when one of the audience members asked about how Dell measures the ROI o...

Kids Today
In case you think that the world hasn't changed all that much since the Internet became commercially viable...
You may want to check out this very interesting article in today's edition of the USA Today titled, Kids' electronic media use jumps to 53 hours a week.
Here are some of the highlights:
Kids spend 53 hours a week with electronic media.
That is 7 hours and 38 minutes per day.
Surprisingly, this is only 79 minutes more than ten years ago.
The biggest drop has been kids...

Social Media Gurus - That Old Chestnut
Who should own Social Media?
It's starting to feel like we're constantly trotting out the same old dead horse to beat (it's a nasty saying, but it's true). Countless Blog posts (here. there and everywhere) have spent years detailing, dissecting and debating that one question: who should own Social Media? In fact, that old chestnut came back one more time last week in an AdWeek article titled, The New Social Gurus. It is the broken record that never stops being broken.

Here is the fine print:
Travel outside of Montreal would...

Live Before You Die
There are only so many Marketing and Business stories to tell.
Sometimes, the best business stories are really just the lessons of life that others have lived through (or think about).
Say what you will about Steve Jobs and how he runs his tight ship over at Apple, this is a great speech and it deserves your undivided attention: YouTube - Steve Jobs' 2005 Stanford Commencement Address...
Genius (on many levels).
