Please Welcome Kim Fielding, Author of Brute

Hi! I’m Kim Fielding. I’m doing a blog tour for my new novel, Brute, and I’ve been making a number of confessions along the way. Today’s deep dark secret? I’ve always kind of rooted for the villains.

When I was a kid, it often seemed to me that the heroes were unrealistically righteous and goody-goody. As someone who has never quite reached perfection herself, I felt that I was being expected to empathize with protagonists who were not very much like me. Now, many of the villains were pretty o...

Research and Rewriting History with Guest Author Beau Schemery

Please welcome our good friend Beau Schemery today, here to talk about his debut novel, The 7th of London.

Hello friends of Gus and Eon. My name is Beau Schemery and I’m the author of the young adult novel, The 7th of London. It’s a steampunk action/adventure just released by Harmony Ink Press. I’ve always loved steampunk and science fiction. It’s a tough genre to write and read. The author has to find a delicate balance between believable machinery and weighing the story down with too much te...

Sneak Peek at Ice and Embers, Book Two of the Blessed Epoch

Ice and Embers, Book Two of the Blessed Epoch, is finished and turned in to my editors! The sequel to Ash and Echoes ended up a bit longer, around 130K. It is told from the multiple perspectives of the protagonists, alternating between them in different scenes and chapters (not to be confused with head-hopping, incidentally. Come on. I may not be Shakespeare but I’m better than that.) As much as I love my Yarrow, Sasha and Duncan, I’m happy to be finished with their latest adventure. I need a...

Caitlin Ricci is our guest today!

Hey, I’m Caitlin Ricci. Thank you for spending some time with me today. I’d like to talk about my upcoming book, Taming the Lion Tamer which is available on August 18 through Silver Publishing.

The idea for Taming the Lion Tamer came to me one afternoon while driving east along I-70 on the Colorado plains. There’s a billboard next to the highway advertising a wild animal sanctuary about an hour east of Denver. I went on their website, looked at the stories of some of their big cats, and starte...

CONTEST! Why I write fantasy

Ash and Echoes and Why I Write Fantasy

Post by Augusta Li

I recently learned from my publisher that contemporary romance sells better than any other genre. I have never written a contemporary romance, but after hearing this, I considered it. After all, I thought, isn’t it easier to write a novel that doesn’t need the construction of an elaborate world and culture? Isn’t it easier to write about things I’ve experienced, like going to work, checking my email, and cooking dinner?

As it turns out, n...
