Happy New Year!

Frolic 2014 (2)Happy 2014 to my friends, family, and all the people who have supported me and my work over the past year. I wish all of you a successful, healthy, happy, and prosperous year.

On January 1st, I signed my first contract of the year with Dreamspinner Press, for my fantasy novel Wine and Roses. It’s set in the same world as the Blessed Epoch series but features an all new cast of characters. It’s quieter than my previous work and the closest I’ve come to writing a “romance.” Here is the unofficia...

Pointless Bloodbath–A Free Story

Ever wonder what Sasha’s life in the order was like before he abandoned his calling for Duncan and Yarrow? Back when he was still a cold-hearted, single-minded killing machine? Here’s a look. I hope you like it, but this is for me. I promised myself a pointless bloodbath as a reward for finishing my contemporary WIP, and this is it. I need to exist in a world where you can just kill people who annoy you for a short space. Obviously this has not been edited, except by me. Let the bloodbath com...

Doodle-Alain

Alain Wine and RosesSome authors outline, some look for models similar to their characters for inspiration, and I draw. Or sketch. It’s the best way for me to get to know my characters.

What do you think? This is a doodle of Alain, one of my characters from my wip Wine and Roses, which will be a spin-off to my Blessed Epoch series. It won’t be in continuity, and won’t feature any of the previous protagonists.

Alain and his sister inherited the vineyard that has been in their family for generations, and when she di...

IT’S HERE!

I’m thrilled to announce the next installment in my epic fantasy series, The Blessed Epoch and reveal another fantastic cover by Anne Cain.

Sasha was born to, and has always defined himself by, the secret assassins’ Order of the Crimson Scythe. He chose the love of Yarrow L’Estrella and Duncan Purefroy over his duty to his clan, forfeiting his last mission and allowing Prince Garith to live. Now, the order—previously Sasha’s family—has branded him a traitor. He’s marked, and that means the bre...

Kitties?

I like to draw and color when I’m feeling stressed. It makes me feel like a kid with a coloring book again. Yarrow, Duncan, and Sasha as kitties. The adult human versions of these characters are here.

Travel Diaries–Manchester

manchester (2)I fell in love with the beautiful city of Manchester, in Northern England, during the time I spent there for the UK GLBTQ Fiction Meet. For me, the city is the perfect size: big enough to have a lot to offer in terms of sites, entertainment, dining, and shopping, while still small enough to feel “authentic.” Places like London and New York City are great, but if you don’t have a local to show you around (I got lucky in London–thanks Melanie) you may have a hard time escaping the tourist traps...

Coming Soon-On Tinsel Wings by Augusta Li

On Tinsel Wings-1 (2)Patrick Harford sees hope as magical and beautiful, too delicate to hold—and everything in his life has proved him right. An unhealthy home leaves him hiding in the shadows as he tries to come to terms with his sexuality.

Patrick finds solace among the performers at the Allegaheny Mountains Renaissance Faire, where he discovers a love of performing and costumes. As he starts to come out of his shell, he meets Yu Elion, an apprentice blacksmith. Yu gives Patrick a glimpse of fairy-tale love.

But...

Merboys!

I thought I’d post these just for fun. All artwork by Augusta Li.

This first is a Nereid, more of a sea-spirit than a true merboy.

Nereid_by_augustaliNext is a tropical merboy.

Tropical_by_augustaliLast one for today! These fellows were a birthday gift for my friend Melanie Tushmore. I hope she doesn’t mind me sharing.
