Hailed by Booklist as “one of the most clever and original talents in contemporary horror,” Kealan Patrick Burke was born and raised in Ireland and emigrated to the United States a few weeks before 9/11.

Invasion of the Body Snatchers

Lately, I reread Jack Finney’s classic sci-fi horror novel Invasion of the Body Snatchers, about the takeover of a small American town by alien invaders who replace people with soulless, emotionless doppelgängers, or “pod people.” At the time, both Finney’s book and the subsequent film adaptation were considered a commentary on Communism, or “the Red Scare”, something Finney and director Don S

Quotes by Kealan Patrick Burke  (?)

“Horror itself is a bit of a bullied genre, the antagonist being literary snobbery and public misconception. And I think good horror tackles our darkest fears, whatever they may be. It takes us into the minds of the victims, explores the threats, disseminates fear, studies how it changes us. It pulls back the curtain on the ugly underbelly of society, tears away the masks the monsters wear out in the world, shows us the potential truth of the human condition. Horror is truth, unflinching and honest. Not everybody wants to see that, but good horror ensures that it's there to be seen.”
Kealan Patrick Burke

“Finch was his own country, the government unstable, the population volatile.”
Kealan Patrick Burke, Kin

“A line from a book he’d read in highschool popped into his mind: The nameless are easier to bury.”
Kealan Patrick Burke, Sour Candy
