20 Day Blog Tour--Dangerous Waters
Today the hero of Dangerous Waters, Finn Carver, is being interviewed over at Laurie' s Thoughts & Reviews and there's a giveaway!!
DANGEROUS WATERS, November 20th, 2012.Known as the Graveyard of the Pacific, Barkley Sound is notorious for surging swells with the power to pull helpless victims into its merciless abyss…Sergeant Holly Rudd arrives in the coastal community of Bamfield after local divers discover a body with a knife jutting from its chest in the waters of Barkley Sound. As she investigates the crime, Holly soon realizes the sleepy town is rife with secrets. But what unsettles her most is the residents’ insistence that she bears a striking resemblance to the victim of a murder from three decades earlier. She shrugs off the uncanny likeness as a coincidence. But her simmering attraction to Finn Carver, one of the divers who discovered the corpse, isn’t so easy to ignore.Finn, a former Special Forces soldier, knows it’s best to keep his distance from Holly. Yet it isn’t long before they both give in to the consuming desire they share. And as the danger escalates, Finn and Holly must rely on each other to thwart the plans of a cold-blooded killer who’s intent on keeping the past buried.

The Next Big Thing--DARK WATERS
I was tagged by the lovely and talented Leah Braemel & Alicia Dean to participate in The Next Big Thing series. The Next Big Thing is a blog circle where authors tag each other, giving fellow authors an opportunity to share their current Works in Progress (WIP).
And now, on to the questions!
10 Questions:
What is the working title of your book?
Actually it's the official title too--DARK WATERS--and it's currently with my editor
Where did the idea come from for the book?
Not how I usually come up with ideas. The hero is a secondary character who was only supposed to have a small part in my last book (DANGEROUS WATERS) who demanded his own story. I didn't think my editor would go for the brooding ex-con hero but she did. He's the guy I'm getting all the reader letters about :)
What genre does your book fall under?
Romantic Suspense
Which actors would you choose to play your characters in a movie?
This is why I don't want to finish this book(!) because I don't want to take Josh Holloway off the wall. He'd play broody ex-con, Brent Carver (an artist) and Anna Belknap would play Anna Silver (a schoolteacher).
What is a one sentence synopsis of your book?
A warning from a dead man sends his daughter running into the arms of a dark and tormented ex-con, forcing them to work together on a hunt for answers to clear her father’s name, and revealing secrets that will either set them free or destroy them.
Will your book be self published or represented by an agency?
Published by Montlake Romance, one of Amazon's publishers.
How long did it take you to write the first draft of your manuscript?
Tricky question because I edit as I go along. I'd say it took me 4 months to write a reasonable second draft.
What other books would you compare this story to within your genre?
LOL--well it's a woman-in-jeopardy so I guess maybe Karen Robards?
Who or What inspired you to write this book?
Check out the answer to question two.
What else about your book might interest the reader?
It starts and finishes in the tiny town of Bamfield, BC, but takes a road-trip through Victoria, Chicago & Minneapolis. Bamfield is a fascinating community in the boonies and I set DANGEROUS WATERS there and hope to set another story soon. DARK WATERS is very much a story of hope, love and redemption.

Moonlight flooded the clearing where his house sat. And damned if the woman—put a man in prison long enough and he could spot a female blindfold at twenty paces—wasn’t climbing his porch steps shining her flashlight around the place like a laser show. Maybe she was a thief? Maybe someone had figured out Brent Carver was B.C. Wilkinson and sitting on a shed-load of very expensive artwork? Then she knocked on his back door. What the…?He rubbed his hand over his brow. He was stark naked except for his gun, and now some woman was standing on his deck? He hoped to hell she wasn’t a Jehovah’s Witness because she was about to have a come-to-Jesus moment. But she could still be armed and dangerous. He’d pissed off enough bad guys in the joint to be wary of anyone turning up in the middle of the night. Hell, no one visited here, period.“Hello?” She pressed her ear to his door. “Mr. Carver?” she said louder. Her shoulders sagged when no one answered. He didn’t recognise her voice. He moved fast and silent across the clearing, padded up the stairs just as she reached for the door knob.“You’re trespassing.”She jolted, her hand going to her heart as she spun to face him. “Oh, my god. You scared me.”Never admit fear. “I don’t like visitors, lady.” Her flashlight dipped and then shot back to his face, almost blinding him. She swallowed, taking in his lack of clothes and keeping her eyes north of the hotspots. “You’re naked.”“I was in bed.” He didn’t know why he needed to explain himself. Her voice came out like gravel. “I’m looking for Brent Carver.”“I’m looking for peace and quiet. Looks like we’re both screwed.”~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

20 Day Blog Tour--Dangerous Waters--Correction--new link

"With vibrant writing, a cast of damaged, captivating characters and a plot that's deliciously diabolical, Dangerous Waters will have you mesmerized from page one. Anderson writes in a dark, edgy style reflected in the setting, the story line, and the secrets that haunt the members of this close-mouthed coastal community." "The sexual tension is high, the humor is gritty and Anderson's background as a marine biologist lends an energetic authenticity to the story's backdrop and the all-important dive scenes." Looking for something else to read? 15% Royalties to Diabetes Research
Today I thought I'd mention that if you read and enjoyed DANGEROUS WATERS and want to pick up another of my books, I donate 15% of my royalties from my last book, EDGE OF SURVIVAL, to diabetes research. Just so you know :)

5 Stars: Edge of Survival is without a doubt, one of the most exciting, romantic, sexy stories I’ve had the pleasure of reading this year and I will definitely be looking for more by Toni Anderson. ~Blithely Bookish.

Dr. Cameran Young knew her assignment wouldn't be easy. As lead biologist on the Environment Impact Assessment team, her findings would determine the future of a large mining project in the northern Canadian bush. She expected rough conditions and hostile miners—but she didn't expect to find a dead body her first day on the job.
Former SAS Sergeant Daniel Fox forged a career as a helicopter pilot, working as far from the rest of the human race as possible. The thrill of flying makes his civilian life bearable, and he lives by his mantra: don't get involved. But when he's charged with transporting the biologist to her research vessel, he can't help but get involved in the murder investigation—and with Cameran, who awakens emotions he's desperate to suppress.
In the harsh and rugged wilderness, Daniel and Cameran must battle their intense and growing attraction while keeping ahead of a killer who will stop at nothing to silence her…

I'm visiting Suzanne Johnson today
Today I'm visiting fellow Montlake Author Suzanne Johnson on her Pretunatura blog (I don't even know what that means!). Come pay us a visit :)
Check out the 5 star reviews on Amazon (Okay, you can look at the other ones too :)). There's a pretty cool 4 star that asks for Brent's story next. That's coming next, DARK WATERS, June 2013. I hope I do him justice.

Happy US Thanksgiving!! Today I'm Visiting Hawaii
Happy Thanksgiving to all my friends in the States! Enjoy and stay safe.
A few weeks a go I met a blogger and fellow book lover who lives in Hawaii. She's former military and a military spouse and we bonded over a love of Scotland and travel. She graciously interviewed me onto her blog SOS Aloha today... here. She also wrote a rocking review of DANGEROUS WATERS on Goodreads.
(HOT) RT Rating
Brady's Beach, Bamfield, BC"With a haunting setting and a captivating cast of characters, Anderson has crafted a multifaceted mystery rife with secrets. Readers will have to focus, as red herrings abound, but the result is a compulsively engrossing page-turner. Plus, the romance is an integral part of the expertly woven plot, which builds to an emotional, satisfying conclusion."-RT Book Reviews.
