The End is Nigh...

School office opens today and I've gotta go to school to make sure kids are both fully registered.  There's a thunderstorm and it's as black as Hades outside which I'm hoping isn't a sign :)  Starting to feel a bit giddy with the thought of the kids going back (they've been off since April b/c of our sabbatical) and can't wait to get some writing done (and the day job cough cough).  It'll be interesting adapting to a new schedule (DS starts middle school), but I can't wait.

Story Totems

[image error] I was at the zoo last week and I got very excited to visit the resident snow leopard because he (well, the species) is the star of my current WIP. Then I remembered last time I went to the zoo I was desperate to visit the wolverine, who starred in the last WIP, ICEBREAKER.  Most of my stories have some sort of animal theme it seems. So I thought I'd see what I could learn about what these animals mean and how that relates to the books I've written...

Keeping memories.

[image error] Right now this is probably my favorite picture from France (it changes frequently!!).  I played with it and overexposed the disappearing Eiffel Tower, but there's something about this bleached out, lop-sided scene that really speaks to me. 
That steel structure is so instantly recognisable you don't need to see more than a fraction of it to know what you are looking at. I love it.

Deck update for the in-laws

I promised my in laws some deck pictures.  DH (and pals) put the lower deck in and he rebuilt the raised bed so we can plant some veggies next spring. This weekend is slab leveling, clear up of old timber and demolishing the upper deck--gawd help us!!
