I’ve been quoted!

Little did I know back in 2010 when I took a flyer on National Novel Writing Month that a writing marathon, then something of a whim for me, would turn out to be my writing modus operandi.
It’s for certain that had I not done NaNoWriMo, my first published novel, The Lost King, would still be languishing in a notebook and not residing happily in the hands of readers.

So I was more than willing to talk about my experience with writer and writing coach Rochelle Melander. My comments appear in her “Cross the finish line with A Writing Marathon” story in the May, 2012, The Writer magazine. The publication of her story is timely as I’m psyching myself up for Camp NaNo, a summer writing marathon, with lots of good tips for my next sprint. Yup, I’m starting another novel.

Meet the authors

[image error] Save the date, Saturday, May 12, 2012, for the 1st Annual Rockport Writers Roundup.
From 4 p.m. to 5 p.m., the Rockport Writers Group will be donating to the Aransas County Public Library  copies of books authored by RWG members. Five local authors including yours truly will be on hand to sell and sign books to members of the public and to answer questions, so bring your copy of The Lost King (or buy one there) and get it signed. The library is at 701 E. Mimosa in Rockport. Refreshments provided.

As if the prospect of meeting five real live authors in person isn't thrilling enough, other digitaries will be on hand. Stay tuned for further developments.

Novel news

Woo hoo, I received my first royalty payments for sales of my first published novel,  The Lost King ! It takes a while to get paid because there's a time lag between the sale and the payment. Also, sales have to meet a certain threshhold before royalties will be paid out. But thanks to you, my dear readers, that threshhold has been met.
Payment is by EFT… electronic fund transfer…so it's not quite as much fun as pinning one's first dollar on a bulletin board. But still, woo hoo! I've been paid!

On a related note, writers and publishers will be interested to learn that The Copyright Office is proposing to raise its fees. They're accepting comments on the proposal until May 14, 2012. To make a comment, visit their Web site.

They like it! They really like it!

I am stoked. Wow!
[image error] People are reading my novel, "The Lost King," and liking it! I got a very encouraging comment on this blot and a great review on the amazon.com page. (Amazon.com has a few copies at a discount price if you've been waiting for a bargain to check it out.)
I feel like Sally Field at the 1985 Oscars!
