Interview with AJ Kelton

Can you tell readers a little bit about yourself?
Jordan: Well, I live in the middle of the US and have been writing for what feels like forever. When I was in high school I used to write and submit short stories but never got them published. When I went to college writing got put on hold then life really just happened. A few years ago I started writing again. Faelon is the first book we had contracted, the second to come out.
When I’m not writing I like to travel. I love New England but New Orleans does have a special place in my heart. I’m a huge fan of amusement parks all though at times I mutter I’m too old for this after I get off a thrill ride.
I’m an avid reader but I try not to read while writing because I don’t want to be influenced by what I’m reading. I love pen paling, there is nothing like getting a letter in the mail from someone halfway around the world. You learn so much about a person through a letter because they write their thoughts and desires on the paper, something they often never voice out loud.
Angel: I’ve been writing since I was about 12, but have been creating worlds in my head since I was about 8. I love the whole aspect of being able to create characters and places that I can make as fantastical or emotional as I want and not have to worry about what other people think. Now though, I am so proud to be publishing and it is wonderful to see that there are people out there who not only like my stories, but also the way I tell them.
I currently live near Beaumont, Texas with my 2 dogs, Daisy a beagle and Bonita a Chihuahua. I work full time and in my spare time I like going to concerts and taking little day trips to go see whatever we find interesting around the area.
Do any of your characters have similar characteristics of yourself in them and what are they?
Jordan: I think I’d say Jax is closest to me. I wrote Faelon as the kind of guy that I want and I wrote Jax as me. I’d love to walk on the wild side but that dang moral upbringing I have keep me from acting on the desires I have. I’ve got the same love for Salem that Jax has. Evan is a close second though, I understand what it’s like to love someone and never be seen as more than a friend.
Angel: I actually give my female characters red curly hair, which I have, and I do have a tendency to make them not a size ‘small’… But that is about as far as I go with my characteristics. I do give them some characteristics that friends or family members have that have stuck out with me and have just felt ‘right’ for the character.
Was one of your characters more challenging to write than another?
Jordan: I think it is a toss-up between Faelon and Ethan. I think the hardest thing about writing them was they are both strong people in their own right but they have this vulnerability about them. It was really hard to find a happy medium. I didn’t want either man to come across as a submissive push over but on the other hand if I made them to strong willed then I risked them becoming the dominate one in the relationship. Each man had to be able to take care of themselves yet at the same time show they needed someone.
Angel: For me I think it would have to be Jack or Marco. It is hard for me to put myself in his position of being ‘above everyone’. While writing it or reading it, I am smacking the crap out of him to treat people better and not to get so high and mighty. They are that way for a reason, having either been raised with a silver spoon in their mouth, or they have been brought up with a mentality of, ‘the servants are beneath us’.
As with Jack, it doesn’t mean that he can’t change his way of thinking, it’s just that he doesn’t need to until he ‘has’ to.
Is there a character that you enjoyed writing more than any of the others?
Jordan: You know they all have been fun. Sham and Shay are just a bundle of energy. They have this sweet innocence about them, yet they are also very sexual. Faelon is fun because he is just so kinky. He has a weakness and strength about him. Christian is another just because I think if crossed he could be a force to be reckoned with. He is a cupid so people see him as being this person who always wants what’s best for his couple but Christian has his own agenda and it usually involves him getting plenty of pleasure on his own.
Angel: I think my favorite to write has been Evan and Ethan. They have all been fun and challenging, but Ethan had an innocence and vulnerability about him that just made me want to keep him safe from the world. With Evan, well he’s the bad boy rocker that I think everyone would love to be able to control and make do their bidding. Book 2 of the Marco Trilogy, we are going to get to see more of Evan, but we will get to explore his vulnerability side under that hard rock exterior.
Do you write in different genres?
Jordan: Yes we write in both contemporary and paranormal romance as AJ Kelton. As Rider Jacobs I am working more along the lines of a Gothic thriller and Fantasy.
Angel: Yes, As Angel Rothamel I write fantasy, contemporary, my current series is about a group of SEALs who have moved to a small town in Colorado. I also write gay and straight as Angel Rothamel.
Do you find it difficult to write in multiple genres?
Jordan: I think paranormal is actually the harder one to write. People love a good paranormal romance and many of the reader have a ‘been there read that’ attitude. The object is to come up with something that hasn’t been done a lot and tell it in a way that the reader hasn’t read before.
Angel: It’s difficult in the aspect of keeping it fresh! I’ve read a lot of stories over the years and I have actually come to make it a goal to take a new, different, or surprising approach to the books I write. I like to have the whole ‘wtf I didn’t see that one coming’ reaction to the stories.
When did you consider yourself a writer?
Jordan: When I signed the first contract. It didn’t matter that I hadn’t been paid yet, I could tell people I signed my first contract and was now a writer with an actual publishing company.
Angel: I’ve considered myself a writer since I was young, but it was only a hobby. Now though, since signing that first contract, it has become real. It’s no longer a hobby but something that while we aren’t making a ton of money at, I can say… “Hey, I’ve accomplished one of my dreams! I am a success!”
What are your guilty pleasures in life?
Jordan: Oh there are so many. Reading those books you find under the taboo section is one of the big guilty pleasures. I have read some really great Indie author’s whose books have pushed the limit of good taste and conventionality. Cheesecake is another way to my heart. There are foods I just don’t like but put it in the form of a cheesecake and I’m willing to give it a try. Going to the movies and getting a large tub of popcorn with double butter is another.
Angel: Oh what to name, what to name… Picture taking, reading, taking a drive. Computer games are also a guilty pleasure of mine, I love Big Fish Games and have tried to master the time management games!
Other than writing, what are some of your interests, hobbies or passions in life?
Jordan: What are my passions in life? You know I always try to take time for my fan’s, that is one thing that is important to me. If someone took the time to tell you how much they liked your book then I think it is only polite to let them know you received the message. So many authors forget exactly who made them who they are today. Of course I’m a supporter of getting homeless GLBT youth off the streets and into some place safe.
My hobbies are the basic, reading writing traveling. I love to read almost anything. I don’t really care for mystery but even that is someone tells me I really have to read it I’ll usually give it a try. Writing of course is something I love doing and not only books; snail mail pen paling is something I love. I love to travel, often you will find my latest destination in one of my books. I also love to travel to those places that aren’t the conventional tourist spots. I often ask the people that I pen pal what Is the one thing that I should see I your area that only the locals know about. I have seen salt mines, old log cabins, places of historic intrest and so forth but will never make the top ten travel destinations because so few people know about them.
My interest? History is a big interest of mine. I don’t care about wars and so forth but the history of people. I want to learn about the people that founded the nation, the area, the town you live in. Several of the towns I live in, including my own have trolley rides that will show your local places of interest and tell you about the founding of the town. I love those. I travel to settler days. I have a town not to far that does a “Good Ol’ Days” where I can see re enactments at the Fort, I can buy food, drink and ice cream made like it was in the late 1800’s, see women dying yarn and making soap. I find all that to be fascinating and you never know, it may show up in a book.
Angel: With Jordan, I also like to take the time to thank the fans for their thoughts and kind words. I’ve sent a few fan letters over my childhood lifetime, and once or twice I received a response. Even if it was just an autographed photo or some other little trinket. It was the fact that, if not the person themselves, then someone close to them took the time to respond. It’s the small things that matter. I will always take the time for the people who support our career.
For hobbies, I love to paint ceramics. I love to get the white ceramic and then mix my own colors to turn it into a masterpiece. I love to travel when I can. I have been to Jamaica and South America, England, Australia and Canada. I would love to be able to travel more, and thanks to GRL in October I have been to New Orleans for the first time and I got to go to Albuquerque and Santa Fe, New Mexico. This October I will be going to Savannah and Atlanta, GA. So I hope to appease my other hobby of taking photos along the drive.
What was the last amazing book you read?
Jordan: There are so many amazing books out there. The surrogate by Ann Somerville was a great book. I wasn’t as happy with the sequel but the first book I think was one I’ve told all my friends to read. Sandra Hill is another author I always recommend. I love her time traveling Vikings and now she has a book with Viking vampire angels. I’ve just finished Kiss of Pride and will start book two soon. If you don’t mind books that really push the limit with bondage and sexual slavery the NEKO by P.L Nunn is also a good one. I also loved Beyond Complicated by Mercy Celeste is another I would say read if you like M/M/M books. I’m always finding books that I tell my friends “They just have to read”.
Angel: I think that I read too much to be able to answer this. I just finished reading Lover At Last by JR Ward, which I loved! I read Suzanne Brockmann, and my favorite series by her that I highly recommend is the Tall, Dark, and Dangerous series with SEAL team Ten Alpha squad. I have found myself reading those several times over the years and have actually had to repurchase the series a couple of times when they got lost in a move here or a move there… They’re hard to find but well worth it! I am usually reading books that I tell friends they have to get.
Where is your favorite place to read? Do you have a cozy corner or special reading spot?
Jordan: You know it actually depends on the time of day or year. When it is early morning or just a beautiful spring day you can usually find me outside on the deck reading or writing. When it’s winter out you may see me sitting in front of the fireplace. In bed is another place I read all the time. I usually tell myself I’m only going to read a chapter or two but the next thing I know hours have passed.Angel: I really like curling up on my couch, with a nice cup of hot cocoa or tea, (when the weather is in agreement that is), and just get lost where my nook takes me! I also like to curl up in bed after a long day, pull my nook out, and cuddle up in my blankets and read until I fall asleep.
What can readers expect next from you?
Jordan: Well as Rider Jacobs I have Legion coming out in June. I am also about half way through with the sequel to Faelon which I plan on calling Much Ado about Twins. I’ve also started writing the sequel to Under the Australian Sky for all the Christian fans out there.
Angel: I have the sequel to Marco on my to do list, that I have started. As Angel Rothamel, I have the sequel to The Solstice that I have started and Misunderstandings, my first book in my SEALs of Cedar Colorado series, that is being released on May 24th.
Where can readers find you on the web?
Jordan: You know I’m really bad about tweeting but you can always send me a message or find me on facebook rider.jacobs.3@facebook.com after that I have started talking about some of the books I read since it is a question I am often asked. Those you can find at http://ridersbookreviews.blogspot.com/
Angel: I don’t really tweet much, we do have a twitter account but I always forget as we’re usually on facebook… You can find us on facebook, our yahoo group, or our website, which I have included below.

Book Description:
Who knew that loving a Nephilim could be so dangerous.
Faelon, a 3000-year-old nephilim, fleeing a demonic master, found safety with the church. He has repaid their kindness by translating various artifacts. Father Donovan has watched as Faelon became a recluse, fearing those who would harm him.
Jax, wanting a change, moves to Salem, MA where he finds work as a churches security guard. Not believing that Faelon is a nephilim, he is forced to confront his own beliefs in the supernatural.
Can he learn to accept Faelon, and be the master he requires? Or lose the man he loves to the demons who would harm him.
About the Author:
AJ Kelton are the dynamic writing team of Angel and Jordan. The couple met online several years ago on an Alexander fan site and have been friends ever since. Angel soon found that Jordan had a flare for storytelling with several half-finished stories on her computer. Angel encouraged Jordan to finish the stories and with help in creative description she decided to send the stories off to MLR press. They were both shocked and excited when they got the news that Faelon was accepted for publication. While Jordan may have a flare for storytelling she doesn’t enjoy the smaller details in getting a story ready for publication. That is where Angel comes in; she spends countless hours getting the story ready after line edits, going over each line in proofing and formatting, making decisions such as covers and fonts, all things that Jordan just has problems focusing on.
Angel is always on the lookout for her perfect mate, a cross between Ethan from Under the Australian Sky and Evan from Marco. Until Mr. Perfect appears at her door, or in front of her booth wanting an autograph she loves to read, take pictures and attend concerts of all kinds. She loves all things 80’s. Angel lives in Texas with her two dogs, Daisy a beagle who she insists is nothing like snoopy and her Chihuahua Bonita.
When not writing Jordan loves to read anything from Amish romance to the dark taboo books of fiction both M/M and Het. She is a very avid reader, except when writing because she doesn’t want to be influenced by what she is reading. Jordan loves to travel and often her latest vacation spots show up in his books. While Jordan is always looking for that perfect place to live at the moment she can be found in Kansas.
Both writers have solo projects coming out in the future, Angel with Misunderstandings under the name Angel Rothamel. Jordan with Legion under the name Rider Jacobs.
Both authors would love to hear from you. You can contact them via their web page AJKelton @AJKelton.com. You can also find them on Facebook under both AJ Kelton, Angel Rothamel and Rider Jacobs.

Excerpt from Beauty of the Beast- Warning Explicit Over 18 Only
My first indication that we weren't quite finished was an insistent and rising pressure against my abdomen.
"George," I asked in wonder, "How can you do that?"
"You'd be surprised, Mary Jane."
I already was—flabbergasted, in fact—but if he was ready, so was I. I could feel the juices flowing, and a familiar ache building in my womb. George grabbed my wrist—it was my turn to be the slave again—and led me toward the back of the room. He stopped by the examination table and picked up the short, thick dildo and a handful of condoms. This looked promising.
When he pulled me toward an adjoining door, I hung back in mock protest, and tugged at his arm. He knew I was kidding, and I could see the gears meshing in his brain. He decided to see if he could actually scare me a little. The thought alone was enough to do it, and I started to pull back in earnest.
He dragged me into the next room, which was totally dark. He seemed to know his way around easily, but even after my eyes adjusted, I could make out only shadowy shapes. I heard him lock the door with a key, then the clank as the key landed on the far side of the room. Once he knew I wasn't going anywhere, he let go of my wrist. I tried to move away from him, but I barked my shin on a low table, and then tripped over something on the floor. If he hadn't caught my elbow, I would have fallen.
"Hold still, Mary Jane."
"I'm scared, George."
"Good. You should be." He held my elbow, and the next thing I knew, he had bound my wrists with a soft cloth. I swung at him with my bound fists, and caught him in the chest. He grunted, then started to laugh.
"You never give up, do you."
"Never."
I felt myself lifted in two strong arms. He carried me out in front of him like a piece of lumber. I swung one foot, but didn't connect with anything. It's hard to kick someone in the pitch-dark. He set me down and told me not to move; it sounded like good advice to me. I felt him move away and then come back. I heard a noise like a screwing motion, but I couldn't imagine what he might be attaching to what. He told me.
"I'm going to lift you up now, Mary Jane, and put you on a child's mechanical horse, like the ones in the supermarket."
Okay, I could go along that far.
"I've attached the dildo to the saddle, and we're going to slide you down onto it very gently."
"Wait a minute. You're going to what?"
He lifted me by the waist. "You heard me. Swing your leg over."
I obeyed him mechanically, still protesting. "I don't think this is going to…"
"Put your hands on the horse's head," he interrupted me. "Use your arms to ease yourself down."
I could feel him lowering me onto the saddle, and swung my arms up quickly. I found the horse's head and pushed up as hard as I could. My body rose up briefly, then began to lower again as his strength easily overpowered mine. I was getting nervous, and sputtered out cautionary comments.
"Does this thing have any stirrups?"
"Let your legs swing loose, Mary Jane."
"Whoa!" The horse talk seemed appropriate. "Let's think about this for a—"
I felt the dildo touch me on the soft skin between my vagina and anus.
"Wait, you haven't got the right spot."
If he was going to make me do this, I had better help out so I wouldn't get hurt. I started to direct traffic, a little higher, no a little lower, ahhh. It was almost a relief when I felt the dildo push against the right spot. Then I remembered how big the thing was, as the thick shaft oozed its way inside me. He had slicked it up with lots of jelly; and once it found the inside door, there was no way I could pull myself off. Besides, his big hands maintained a steady downward pressure at my waist. I gasped and moaned a little as my lips stretched and stretched. My own juices joined the jelly, and soon the shaft was as slick as a greased pig. When my hips landed on the saddle, I heaved a sigh of relief.
George let me sit quietly for a minute, breathing hard. Then he lifted me up about an inch, and lowered me back down. The dildo wasn't very long, and I couldn't feel a lot of pressure on the walls of my vagina, but what it did to the opening was intense. As he raised and lowered me, I realized why he had chosen a short, thick sex-toy. A longer one might have bruised me, since neither George nor I could control how far in it went.
That was my last conscious thought, as I gave myself up to the pleasure of riding up and down, up and down, in George's steady hands. Finally his arms got tired, and he lifted me with more and more effort. I hadn't reached a climax, and I was disappointed, but not for long. I heard a mysterious click, and by the time the coin dropped in my mind, I screamed as the mechanical pony started to buck beneath me.
"Stop! You have to stop it!" I screamed over and over, but I knew he couldn't. That was the terror and the excitement of it. The horse moved much faster than George had, and more erratically. I could feel the dildo bucking up and down inside me with a wild fury. George's hand pushed against my lower back, and I held on to the horse's head for dear life. I screamed the whole ride. Then abruptly the horse became still beneath me. My screams stopped, and I began to sob in frustration. When it was bucking, I wanted it to stop; but now that it had stopped, all I wanted was for it to start again.
"Put in another coin," I gasped.
George chuckled and removed his hand from my back. I was afraid he wasn't going to let me keep going, so I wheedled like an obnoxious child. "Please, please, please." My voice was breathless and anxious.
George picked up my hands where they lay against the horse's head and placed them around the reins. I knew reins weren't going to stop this horse, and without my hands on the horse's head, I wouldn't be able to control the movement of my body at all. I began to have second thoughts about having another ride. My wheedling stopped.
A few seconds passed, then I heard the click. I screamed involuntarily as the bucking began.
Then I heard another click—oh, God—and another, and another.

I write unapologetic romances with uniquely fresh perspectives on paranormal creatures, characters, and themes. Add a dash of scifi and a flourish of fantasy to enough humor to make you laugh out loud and enough steam to make you squirm in your chair. My heroines are independent femmes with flaws and minds of their own whether they are aliens, witches, demonologists, psychics, or past life therapists. My heroes are hot and hunky, but they also have brains, character, and good manners - usually - whether they be elves, demons, berserkers, werewolves, or vampires.
My first book, My Familiar Stranger, was nominated for Best Paranormal Romance of 2012 by the Reviewers' Choice Awards. Each of my books has remained on the Amazon best seller list in category every day since release. All three also earned the Night Owl Reviews TOP PICK award.
My work has been compared to J R Ward, Karen Marie Moning, Sherrilyn Kenyon, and Lara Adrian. For example:
"I do see shades of Lara Adrian's Breed books and shades of J R Wards Black Dagger books, but this story is unique enough that it stands out all on its own and can stand up along side those other books and I think given time will elbow them out of the way with the rich story telling and deep emotional core that makes you want to know more." - Kerry, Musings of a Bookworm
The Order of the Black Swan is a series that is also a serial saga. Each book is an episodic installment in an ongoing story. Join me for the adventure.

Dark Flight Guest blog and Giveaway with Cassi Carver

Thank you so much for inviting me to Fang-tastic Books today to tell you a little about me and my new book that’s coming out tomorrow—Dark Flight!
First I should go back to the beginning… When I was born—okay, hold on. That may be a little too far back. How about when Book 1 of the Shadow Slayer series was born instead? Book 1 in the series, Slayer’s Kiss, came at a time in my writing journey when I was reading a ton of urban fantasy, but I’d never stopped reading romance, either.
I started thinking about how I wished there was more romance in some of my favorite UF series, and yes—even more sex. I mean, does it ever frustrate you that so many UF heroines lead these virginal lives while they’re out there kickin’ bad guy booty? Well, it bothered me. And I started wondering what would happen if I took the things I loved from urban fantasy and spiced it up—way up! And that’s how Slayer’s Kiss and the Shadow Slayers series was born.
Kara, the heroine, had lived her life separated from her own very sensual species, and when two hot neighbors move in next door—two men who just happened to be sent to protect her from a sadistic not-quite-human killer—Kara’s hormones go into overdrive.
I’ll warn you right off the bat that there is a love triangle in this series. It’s a love triangle that has made readers both swoon and “want to chuck their e-reader across the room” as they navigated the complex relationship between one woman and the two best friends who love her. One hero is noble and self-sacrificing. The other is too in love and in lust to deny what he wants.
Gavin and Julian, the heroes of this series, have about an equal number of fans on their “teams,” but you know the best part about writing Dark Flight? I think both Team Julian and Team Gavin are going to walk away with a smile. At least, I hope so. I couldn’t stop smiling after writing Dark Flight. So here’s to hoping you’ll give the series a try and journey with Kara as she struggles with a newfound sexuality, the loss and rediscovery of those she loves, and ultimately, a metamorphosis that will change life as she knows it.

As a thank you for stopping by, I would like to give a free digital copy of Dark Flight to one person who comments today!
Tell me, who are some of your favorite urban fantasy authors and can you remember a love triangle that stuck out in your mind?
If that just fried your brain, then just say hi—that works, too. ;)

In a world of shadows, a pure heart can be the most dangerous weapon of all.
Kara has been training for months to help take down Brakken—the merciless black-wing who is making life hell for the Demiáre. But when Julian discovers a scout has been tracking Kara, he wants her out of the fight—even if it means breaking her heart in the process.
Gavin isn’t much better. He’s already lost so much to Brakken and has no intention of allowing the woman he loves to be the next sacrifice. He and Julian have their hands full trying to fight Brakken’s army and keep Kara safe, especially after her recent visit to the mythical white-wings. Since her return, she’s been acting decidedly…strange.
With a terrible battle looming, Kara doesn’t have time to think about her conflicted feelings for Gavin and Julian—or the fact that she’s developed an unnatural taste for Gavin’s blood. But if she thought it was complicated evading mysterious scouts and fending off vicious black-wings, she’s learning that’s nothing compared to loving two strong-willed men.
Product Warnings:
This book contains angels that aren’t what they seem, a heroine with mad midwifery skills, and a metamorphosis that will change life as we knew it.

Book Description:
Her lover is back from the dead…but now there’s hell to pay.
When Kara Reed learns her bondmate, Julian, is truly dead, and that Gavin has seemingly skipped town, she figures things have hit rock bottom. But soon, a string of bizarre accidents has her doubting those closest to her. And to make matters worse, the demon-king’s brand carved into her best friend Abbey’s stomach is deteriorating by the day.
Then a powerful coven of witches issues Kara an ultimatum. Bring them the blood of a true fallen angel—the only thing that will heal Abbey—or die. Kara would do anything to help her friend. Problem is, the only fallen angel she’s seen lately is the disoriented black-wing who attacked her scouts. One who looks suspiciously like Julian. Getting his blood might be easier if he was more interested in kissing her than killing her.
Caught between a coven of vengeful witches and a murderous dead lover, Kara must deliver the blood, heal the slow poison of Abbey’s brand, and save Julian from being consumed by the Abyss. But to do this, she may need the help of the one man she swore never to trust again…Gavin.
Product Warnings:
This book contains an angry demon returning from the dead, a clan lord hiding a terrible secret, and a hunted heroine cracking open a can of whoop-ass. Watch out for creepy kitties, exploding bad guys, and some very sudsy shower sex.

Slayer's Kiss , The Shadow Slayers, Book 1
Kara Reed is a supernatural failure. But where her magic falls short, her fists get the job done. The criminal element doesn’t stand a chance once she hits San Diego’s dark streets.
When two smoking-hot tenants move in next door, she thinks her love life might finally be heating up. Just being near Gavin and Julian is enough to make her want to offer her body on a platter.
Gavin and Julian know it’s only a matter of time before the truth comes out. They’re fallen angels sent to watch over the king’s daughter, one of the last females of her kind. Trouble is, she doesn’t seem to think she needs watching—unless they’re watching her shimmy out of her clothes.
No matter how tempting her guardians, Kara’s not about to let anything stop her from tracking down a sadistic killer who carves into his victims and leaves them for dead. Even when she realizes her target may be the very scourge of heaven from which her angels swore to protect her…
Product Warnings:
Contains a kick-ass heroine with a foul mouth, a kind heart and a raging libido, and two fallen angel warriors who wouldn’t have her any other way. Watch out for sex in the clouds, a magical island of hedonism and a love triangle that gives new meaning to the term “hot-wings”.

Cassi Carver lives in sunny Southern California with two dogs, four kids, five chickens, and one hubby who gives great massages. She gets to San Diego’s Gaslamp Quarter for research (okay, happy hour) as often as possible. She’s never saved the world, but she keeps sexy boots on hand just in case the opportunity arises.
When Cassi isn’t busy plotting or writing, she enjoys reading, spending time with family and friends, caring for pets, getting outdoors, and watching sappy movies that deliver reliably happy endings.

Felicity Heaton
A powerful vampire lost deep in his bloodlust, Snow is a savage animal, mindless with rage and a thirst for violence, and trapped with no hope of awakening from an endless nightmare… until a song draws him up from the abyss, restoring his sanity but leaving him haunted by the sweet feminine scent of lilies and snow, and fragmented familiar lyrics.
When the mysterious and beautiful songstress reappears in Snow’s room at Vampirerotique, she awakens a fierce protective streak and stirs dark desires that drive him to claim her as his female, even when he knows his touch will destroy her innocence.
A single forbidden taste is all it takes to unleash emotions in Aurora that she shouldn’t possess, tearing her between duty and desire, and luring her into surrendering to her wildfire passion and embracing hungers that burn so hotly they threaten to consume them both.
One act of kindness can lead to one thousand acts of sin though, each a black mark against the bearer’s soul and another grain of sand that slips through an hourglass. The clock is ticking and time is almost up. Can beauty save the beast?

Unleash – Excerpt
Snow ducked his head under the hot spray of water and closed his eyes as it soaked through his hair, washing away the shampoo.
He braced his hands against the black tiles in front of him in the double-width shower stall and hung his head forwards, letting the water hit his nape and cascade over his back. The heat soothed the last remnants of tightness from his muscles.
He had worked out in his apartment after Antoine had gone, putting his body through its paces to try to bring himself back to full strength, and had needed this shower. It completed the therapeutic and almost ritualistic process of putting the past three weeks out of his mind by erasing the evidence stamped on his body—the weakness, the bloodstains, and the fatigue. He always felt better afterwards. Almost normal.
Snow opened his pale blue eyes and stared at his feet. Rivulets streamed from the tips of his white hair and his chin and nose, catching the light and sparkling as they fell to the tray far below.
His lips parted and he sighed. Working out had felt good but a shower was always the best medicine after an extended period of captivity. It revitalised him, leaving him feeling alive and awake, and at peace.
He had already scrubbed himself from head to toe twice over, paying close attention to his wrists and ankles.
Snow straightened, the water beating on his broad bare chest, and removed one hand from the wall. He turned his palm upwards and stared down at his scarred wrist.
The marks would fade in time, his preternatural healing taking care of them and leaving smooth skin behind. They were always chafed though, permanent evidence that he had to spend his days wearing leather-lined steel cuffs attached to inch-thick chains that were secured to the industrial grade steel posts at the corners of his bed.
When they had first moved to the theatre, he had forced Antoine to purchase the strongest, thickest metal posts he could find and make a bed out of them for him. Antoine had protested but had done as he had asked in the end, arranging for the restraints at the same time.
His younger brother had told him countless times that he didn’t need to chain himself each day, and Snow had always countered that it was necessary and he did not mind it.
He did. He hated it.
That was beside the point though.
It was necessary, and ever since that fateful night centuries ago, he had always done whatever was necessary to protect others from himself.
Snow heaved a sigh, his chest expanding with it, powerful muscles straining, and ran his hand down his face.
It would have been so much easier if Antoine had agreed to do as Snow had asked that same night and destroyed him.
He deserved to be put down like the rabid beast he was.
Antoine was nothing if not stubborn though. He had been bleeding profusely from the savage wounds Snow had inflicted upon him, carving up his chest and arms so badly that Antoine had scarred rather than healed completely. Snow had thought he would seek revenge for himself and their family, or perhaps take his head as an act of mercy. He had dared to hope his brother would do what was right.
Antoine had refused to kill him and had even pressed him to promise that he would never kill himself either. Snow had agreed and regretted it the moment it had left his lips.
The past few centuries had been hell. Seeing Antoine every night and knowing what he had done to him, the fact he had almost killed the brother he loved with all of his black heart. Seeing Antoine and knowing that he had stolen everything from his brother in one night of madness. Seeing his brother and knowing that he had butchered their entire family.
Seeing Antoine’s face and seeing their mother’s pale blue eyes and their father’s dark brown hair.
It was enough to drive a man insane.
It was a good job he was already crazy.
Snow switched off the shower, ran his hands over his hair to squeeze the water out, and slid the glass cubicle door open. He stepped out onto the black tiles and grabbed a thick white towel. A very impractical colour, but he liked the touch of purity and lightness it brought into his dark world.
He scrubbed the towel over his hair and then dried himself off with one hand. He swiped his free palm across the clouded mirror, clearing enough to reveal his reflection and the main room of his apartment through the open door behind him.
He never liked to look at himself, normally hated seeing his reflection and seeing his mother’s eyes and hair, knowing what he had done to her, but he sometimes felt the need to look and remind himself of what he had done.
A twisted form of punishment.
He dropped the damp towel, pressed both palms against the edge of the black counter, and leaned forwards over the sink, staring hard at his reflection.
A face his mother had often called angelic.
The face of a cold-blooded murderer.
Snow growled and slammed his right fist into his face in the mirror, splintering the glass. Fire seared his knuckles and blood instantly ran down the shards of mirror. He pulled his fist back and plucked a sliver of glass from the soft flesh between his index and middle finger, and dropped it into the sink.
The scent of blood compelled him to taste it, stirring the darkness that constantly lurked within him, stalking just beneath the surface, barely restrained.
He rinsed his bloodied knuckles off in the black oval sink and then inspected them. Two of the cuts were deep. He lifted his hand to his face and sucked those two, drawing more blood to the surface. It tasted foul.
His stomach cramped and he spat the blood into the sink and then swiped his tongue across his knuckles to seal the wounds. The bleeding was already slowing. Within a few minutes, his flesh would begin to knit itself back together and heal.
He took a small towel and wrapped it around his hand, and then strolled naked into his bedroom. The bed loomed directly in front of him. He had promised Antoine that he would sleep and he meant to keep that promise.
He wanted to be sane enough to head down to the party even if it was only for a few minutes. Everyone was depending on him and he didn’t want to let all of them down. They had held off on celebrating the arrival of the twins so he could share in the joy of the event. He needed to be there.
He veered right, heading for the ebony chest of drawers that lined the black wall there next to his elegant wardrobe. He pulled out one of the smaller drawers at the top, fished a fresh pair of black boxers out, and shut it again. Someone spoke in the hall. Snow paused and listened. Callum was talking to Payne as they walked along the hall towards Callum’s apartment beyond Snow’s one. Discussing children.
Payne had taken responsibility for the witch’s youngling? Snow had never pictured the young vampire as a father. He had always imagined him to be more of a bachelor forever type because of his incubus blood.
Was everyone going to settle down and produce offspring now?
Snow tugged his boxer shorts on. They were all going to leave him behind. Everyone had a female now, something warm and tender in their lives. They were complete.
Where did that leave Snow?
With a frustrated growl, he pulled his wardrobe doors open, grabbed fresh bed linen from the stack he kept at the bottom, and slammed them shut again. What did he care about females? No female in her right mind would want him, and he certainly did not want a female.
He could never trust himself with something so weak and breakable.
He lumbered across his room, bare feet thumping against the wooden floor, and dumped the black linen beside his bed. He stripped the soiled covers off and focused on replacing them with fresh ones to keep his mind off a topic that had often angered him.
He had warred with himself many times about finding a female, debating the pros and cons of such a mission, and all the possible outcomes. It was highly likely that a female would leave him the moment she discovered the ugly truth about him, his bloodlust, and his horrific past.
He would probably react to her betrayal by losing his head to bloodlust and killing her.
He had a tendency to react violently whenever someone sought to hurt him.
Breaking his heart would cause him the ultimate pain.
Snow shook that thought away and smoothed the edges of his black covers down, neatening them. He grabbed his black robe and slung it on, but didn’t bother to fasten the belt.
Darkness swirled inside him like a rising tide that he was powerless to hold back. He breathed slowly, trying to work past the tightening knot in his breast, hoping to calm down before he lost himself again.
He sat on the bed and lay with his back against the pillows and his head against the steel bars of the headboard. He cast a glance at the restraints that rested on the pillows on either side of him. They were there if he needed them and that gave him back a fraction of his control, but didn’t quell his rising bloodlust.
His heart galloped, refusing to heed his attempts to slow it, and he closed his eyes and focused on positive things. The battle between his darker hungers and his desire to remain sane intensified and he breathed harder, drawing deep and filling his lungs with cool air. The soft scent of lilies and snow lingered in that air and his mind drifted to the lyrics of the song.
Calm swept through him, driving back the darkness for a brief second before it surged forwards again, obliterating the sense of peace.
A breeze washed over his bare flesh.
Snow frowned. There were no windows in his room. The breeze carried the unmistakable scent of snow yet it felt warm, and familiar.
Someone was in his apartment. He felt their presence as a soft caress that reached right down to his tainted soul and chased the black shadows from it.
Snow drew in a deeper breath of lily of the valley and snow, the pure feminine scent stirring his body and soothing the tension from it. He held it in his lungs and slowly opened his eyes, settling them directly on the dark beauty standing at the foot of his bed.
She was stunning, with a fall of glossy raven hair that playfully curled around slender shoulders and contrasted against her milky skin, heart-shaped rosy lips, a button nose, and the most incredible yet familiar eyes. They were turquoise around the outside but faded to a brilliant blue at their centres, around the dark mesmerising chasms of her pupils.
A pure white dress clung to dangerous curves and full breasts that would make any man’s eyes linger on her, evoking images in his head that he shouldn’t entertain but couldn’t keep at bay. He had never seen a female like her.
The white layers of her dress criss-crossed over her torso, forming a zigzagging line downwards from between the swell of her creamy breasts to the point above her navel. They flowed from there, free and untamed, drifting down to caress her ankles and her small bare feet.
Beautiful.

Character Interview and Giveaway -Colour Wielders: Heirs of the Magykal Realm Series Book One by Dawna Raver

Character Interview with Quinn Sinclair
I walk in and sit down, taking in the women before me. She's very pretty, but I have a sense future changes will make her a real beauty. She shifts uncomfortably in her chair as if she rather be doing anything than talking to me. She smiles when she sees me, and I can't help but be taken in by her bright, purple-tanzanite eyes. They're stunning.)
Dawna Raver: Hi Quinn. Thanks for joining me. I understand you've had a rough go of it recently.
Quinn Sinclair: Yeah. (She winces and nervously plays with her long, auburn hair.) Kind of. Dawna Raver: Sorry about your birthday.
(She laughs, but it doesn't reach her eyes. For a split second, they turn jade in color. I take a quick breath and try to hide my reaction. I wonder if she knows her eyes can change color? I quickly change subjects.)
Dawna Raver: I understand when you got home your mother was missing? Any word on her whereabouts?
Quinn Sinclair: No. (She sighs, resigned.) Mother will show up whens she ready—or she won't. Whatever.
Dawna Raver: So, I understand your brother Iain is home from the Army. You must be trilled.
(She perks up at this.)
Quinn Sinclair: Yes, I'm very excited. It's nice to have Iain home.
Dawna Raver: And he's brought a friend, Devin MacGregor?
(She blushes and toys with the gold signet ring on her finger.)
Quinn Sinclair: Yeah. He's … nice.
(Her smile dips into a quick frown then back to a smile.) Yeah, nice.
(Having met Devin MacGregor, I understand her reticence. He's a man of power. Extreme power.)
Dawna Raver: You like him, don't you?
Quinn Sinclair: Sure. What's not to like.
Dawna Raver: But?
Quinn Sinclair: But nothing. You know, things are kind of crazy right now. Weird things keep happening. (She leans in and whispers.) I think I might have some kind of magic. I see these really weird colors around Devin. I think he has magic too.
Dawna Raver: Like Thaene?
(She vehemently shakes her head.)
Quinn Sinclair: No. Not like Thaene. How do you know about Thaene and magic anyway?(Her eyes narrow.)
Dawna Raver: I'm afraid most people know about Thaene or they soon will.
(Her eyes flash jade again. I try not to react so she doesn't. I happen to know about her Magyk and have no desire to experience it first hand.)
Quinn Sinclair: Great! I really wanted the whole world to know about my disastrous birthday. This is effing perfect.
Quinn stands up and straightens the skirt of her black dress.
Dawna Raver: Are you leaving? So soon? (I hold up the bottle of tequila.) I have tequila. She waves me off and strolls out of the room, she her shoulders a little slumped. I hear her mumble something under her breath, but I can't quite make it out. Something about me and a cow?
Sighing, I pour myself another shot and down it. I seem to have a knack for pissing people off. Oh well. I can always get my revenge in book two.

Book Description:
Behind the Faerying Mysts, hidden from Mortal eyes, is a land where Gods, creatures of myth and legend dwell. And in the Mortal Realm, their Princess lives.
Quinn Sinclair is clueless to who she is. She thinks she's an ordinary young woman—well, mostly ordinary—living an ordinary life with her less than loving mother in Conifer, Colorado. On the night of her birthday, Quinn finds herself betrayed by a man who sends her life spinning out-of-control.
As she struggles to pick up the pieces, a vision of a man with haunting tourmaline-blue eyes begs her for help, and she finds herself transported into a Magykal battle forever changing her life.
Arik Morgaine—Demigod bad boy and outcast of the Magykal Realm—tried to avoid contact with Princess Quinn Sinclair for eighteen years, not wanting to make good on an old threat. But the fates have other plans. Arik can no longer deny his growing desire for Quinn, or the need to protect her from those wanting to control her burgeoning powers. Can the two of them come together and save the Magykal Realm from being destroyed by the Darkest of Magyks, or will powers beyond their control destroy them and their world forever?

Dawna Raver is an author of paranormal romance and urban fantasy. Colour Wielders, book one of the Heirs of the Magykal Realm series, is debut first novel. When she's not spending time in her fantasy world, Dawna loves football, reading, and pretending she's a top chef in the kitchen. Oh, and fawning over her dogs and husband, sometimes in that order.

The perfect immortal warrior.A set of stolen, priceless artifacts. An ancient sect determined to bring about the downfall of human civilization.
The exciting, action-packed follow-up to Soul Meaning and the second installment in the supernatural thriller series, Seventeen.
When a team of scientists unearth scriptures older than the Dead Sea Scrolls in a cave in the Eastern Desert mountains in Egypt, a mystery lost to the tides of time is uncovered. Heading the expedition is Dimitri Reznak, the Head of the Crovir Immortal Culture & History Section. But the monumental discovery is spoiled by evidence of looting and half the priceless artifacts Reznak has been seeking for centuries have disappeared.
Alexa King is a covert agent for the Crovir First Council. When she is approached by her godfather for a mission that could help elucidate the enigma of her lost past, she finds herself delving into the dangerous and shadowy world of secret religious societies. Assigned by Reznak to assist her is Zachary Jackson, a gifted human and Harvard archaeology professor.
In their search for the missing artifacts, King and Jackson stumble upon the existence of a deadly sect whose origins are as mystifying as the relics they are searching for. From North Africa to the doors of Vatican City itself, they unveil a centuries-old plan that aims to shatter the very structure of civilized society.
With the help of Reznak and a group of unexpected allies, King and Jackson must stop the enemy and uncover the astonishing truth behind the missing artifacts and King’s own unearthly origins before all is lost.

Book Description:
A half breed immortal. An international manhunt. A race against time to stop a terrifying plot that threatens to kill millions. The gripping, action-packed debut novel by AD Starrling and the first in the supernatural thriller series Seventeen.
‘My name is Lucas Soul.Today, I died again. This is my fifteenth death in the last four hundred and fifty years.’
The Crovirs and the Bastians. Two races of immortals who have lived side by side with humans for millennia and been engaged in a bloody war since the very dawn of their existence. With the capacity to survive up to sixteen deaths, it was not until the late fourteenth century that they reached an uneasy truce, following a deadly plague that wiped out more than half of their numbers and made the majority of survivors infertile.
Soul is an outcast of both immortal societies. Born of a Bastian mother and a Crovir father, a half breed whose very existence is abhorred by the two races, he spends the first three hundred and fifty years of his life being chased and killed by the Hunters.
One fall night in Boston, the Hunt starts again, resulting in Soul’s fifteenth death and triggering a chain of events that sends him on the run with Reid Hasley, a former US Marine and his human business partner of ten years. When a lead takes them to Washington DC and a biotechnology company with affiliations to the Crovirs, they cross the Atlantic to Europe, on the trail of a French scientist whose research seems intrinsically linked to the reason why the Hunters are after Soul again.
From Paris to Prague, their search for answers will lead them deep into the immortal societies and bring them face to face with someone from Soul’s past. Shocking secrets are uncovered and fresh allies come to the fore as they attempt to put a stop to a new and terrifying threat to both immortals and humans.
Time is running out for Soul. Can he get to the truth before his seventeenth death, protect the ones he loves and prevent another immortal war?
