A New Kind of Blackface on the Internet: Digital Blackface, Ryan Field Books

A New Kind of Blackface on the Internet: Digital Blackface

I'm am convinced that when it comes to things like blackface and digital blackface there are two kinds of people in the world. And it has nothing to do with being liberal or conservative. There's the hypocritical Justin Trudeau kind who did blackface years ago and thought nothing of doing it, and then there's the kind of person like me and millions of others who would never, EVER have done blackface then or now. We knew it was wrong to d...

It's Official: The Catholic Church Will Not Bless Same Sex Marriage So Get My Smelling Salts, Ryan Field Books

It's Official: The Catholic Church Will Not Bless Same-Sex Marriage So Get My Smelling Salts

I rarely post anything about religion here. I've posted about the guys I've known over the years who were Catholic priests and closeted gay men living double lives. It is not uncommon. They live such sad, shady, shabby lives. But I never make it a focus because anything with regard to the Catholic church is usually so dismal when it comes to gay people. I also think organized religion is nonsense. And thi...

There's a New Gay Beach In Southern Florida, Ryan Field Books

There's a New Gay Beach In Southern Florida

Along the New Jersey shore, there's a town called Belmar that used to have a gay beach. It was never actually dedicated officially as a gay beach, but we all knew that's where gay people would go and gather and be safe. You could go with your gay friends, you could go alone and meet people, or you could just go alone and sit there with other gay people and not say or do anything. I'm not sure if it's still there, but at the time it was very nice. Belma...

Gay Comedy "The Birdcage" At 25, Ryan Field Books

Gay Comedy "The Birdcage" At 25

It's hard to believe "The Birdcage" is 25 years old. I remember rushing to see it when it first came out. I was very young and there wasn't much gay content back then. So anything that was gay I couldn't wait to see.

For those who don't know, this was actually a reboot before reboots were popular.

Released 25 years ago this week, Nichols' film, a remake of the 1978 French film La Cage aux Folles, about a gay couple hosting an ill-fated dinner party, remains remark...

"Blissfully Yours" Used to Be "Gayest Palm Springs Thanksgiving with the In-laws," Ryan Field Books

"Blissfully Yours" Used to Be "Gayest Palm Springs Thanksgiving with the In-laws"

I rarely ever change the titles of books...ever. I rarely ever change the book covers...ever. I don't like to change things like that.

But in this case, with "Gayest Palm Springs Thanksgiving with the In-laws" I thought the title "Blissfully Yours" worked so much better. I like the second cover better, too.

The problem is that I loved the first title and the first cover as well. And the change has confused a few peo...

Milo Yiannopoulos Is Now Ex-Gay and Plans to Rehabilitate Conversion Therapy, Ryan Field Books

Milo Yiannopoulos Is Now Ex-Gay and Plans to Rehabilitate Conversion Therapy

I believe this is the epitome of confusion and self-loathing. I don't know whether to feel sorry for this guy or just laugh in his face. I'm sure most of you know about MiloYiannopoulos's past and how he's been known to do or say anything simply to get attention, but this latest announcement is truly beyond hope. This is a good example of how bad people never change. They don't have the ability. And this time I actually ...

My Posts On Coronavirus One Year Later, The Doctor Who Put Cocaine On His Penis and Allegedly Killed Is Ordered to Pay, Ryan Field Books

My Posts On Coronavirus One Year Later

I didn't focus too much on COVID last year because that's not what this website has ever been about. But I did post a few things with regard to COVID and LGBTQ people, and I think I mentioned that Tony and I thought we had the mild version of COVID last March. Although we were never tested at that time, we experienced all the symptoms of the mild version. At that time there was no testing available so we simply did our best and waited things out. To this da...

Hungary Orders Disclaimers On Books with Gay Content, Ryan Field Books

Hungary Orders Disclaimers On Books with Gay Content

Here's what's happening on the global front with books that have gay content in Hungary. This country is proving itself to be one of the worst on equal rights.

Hungary’s government, which has made hostility to LGBT people a central part of its rightwing agenda, on Tuesday ordered a publisher to print disclaimers identifying books containing “behaviour inconsistent with traditional gender roles”.

You can read more, here.  It's a very interesting ...

Why You shouldn't Call Lindsey Graham "Lady G", Ryan Field Books

Why You Shouldn't Call Lindsey Graham "Lady G"

I'm not a huge fan of Lindsey Graham and I never was, however, whenever I see these know-it-all straights on Twitter referring to him as "Lady G" it makes me want to punch something...hard. If you're straight you don't get the right to do that. It's homophobic.

And yet I see it on Twitter all the time. It clearly shows she doesn't "get" it.

White House press secretary Jen Psaki has come under fire for referring to Sen. Lindsey Graham as “Lady G” in a...

Book Publishing News for Amateurs In 2021, Ryan Field Books

Book Publishing News for Amateurs In 2021

I belong to this group of writers on social media where I usually just lurk because some of the posts I see leave me wondering. The people there all claim to be writers and yet they don't seem to know anything about publishing or even the basic aspects of how the publishing industry works. We are talking totally clueless. There's nothing wrong with being a beginner, but it's a shame so many don't know about all the free publishing information there is out...
