Country Music's TJ Osborne Comes Out As Gay, Ryan Field Books

Country Music's TJ Osborne Comes Out As Gay

Here's a nice story about another high profile guy coming out as gay in these constantly changing times. At one time for a male country singer to come out as gay would have been career suicide, and now no one seems to mind at all.

The 36-year-old vocalist for Brothers Osborne, a duo he started with his brother, John, said he is "very comfortable being gay," adding, however: "I find myself being guarded for not wanting to talk about something that I per...

TV Show "Firefly Lane" Gets a Few Things Wrong; Ryan Field Books

TV Show Firefly Lane Gets a Few Things Wrong

I'm watching the Netflix series, Firefly Lane, and I'm shaking my head a good deal of the time because so much of it is either off base or just exaggerated as far as the past goes. It's set in different times, and there are some things about the past with regard to some of the scenes that really make me wonder who's writing this stuff. But more important, why can't people just do some basic research?

First of all, there are two gay characters and the ...

Homophobic Christian Actress With No Gay Roles Rule Fired, Ryan Field Books

Homophobic Christian Actress With No Gay Roles Rule Fired

Here's a story about an actress who once posted something homophobic on Facebook in a very public way. But it goes even deeper than that. She was supposed to play the lead role in The Color Purple. However, she found out there is lesbian content, which she claimed she didn't know, and I guess she made it clear how she feels about gay people and they fired her. Now Miss Religion is suing them for breach of contract.

Her 2014 message said p...

"It's a Sin" Star Nathanial J. Hall Talks About Contracting HIV When He Was 16 Years Old, Ryan Field Books

"It's a Sin" Star Nathanial J. Hall Talks About Contracting HIV When He Was 16 Years Old

Here's the story of a guy who talks about how he was diagnosed with HIV at 16 years of age. His name is Nathanial J. Hall and he's part of a TV show in the UK that I don't know much about. But his own personal story has truly moved me. It could have been me, or anybody I know. I grew up with HIV/AIDS and I don't recall a time before that, a time when gay men didn't have to worry about catching a virus that w...

RIP Hal Holbrook Pioneering Actor In a Gay Film "That Certain Summer", Ryan Field Books

RIP Hal Holbrook Pioneering Actor In a Gay Film That Certain Summer

I often post about the discussion so many are having these days with regard to straight actors playing gay characters on TV, in films, or even in the theater. Personally, with so many openly gay actors out there who need work, I'm not fond of straight actors playing gayface. I'm also not fond of the spin that straight people put on gay culture when they appropriate us. They always get it wrong, especially straight women.

However,...

LGBTQ Seniors Speak Out about Life and What It Was Like, Ryan Field Books

LGBTQ Seniors Speak Out About Life and What It Was Like

So many things have changed in the last 10 to 20 years and the world is almost unrecognizable in some respects. The changes for LGBTQ people have been huge, especially with regard to mainstream public opinion. Things aren't perfect yet, and we're still being stereotyped by the Will and Grace crowd, but it's so much better.

Here's an article where LGBTQ seniors talk about what life has been like for them. Tony and I were lucky to have known ...

Pennsylvania's Lieutenant Governor and His Gay Flag Battle, Ryan Field Books

Pennsylvania's Lieutenant Governor and His Gay Flag Battle

After living in New Hope, PA, for the last 27 years as a gay married couple, Tony and I recently sold our home in New Hope and moved a mile away to Lambertville, NJ. We are eventually going to Palm Springs year-round, but right now we're on the state lines. So I'm still very much associated with PA in many ways. When you live on state lines there's always a crossover.

In any event, PA's Lieutenant Governor, John Fetterman, has been fightin...

The UN Calls Out Indonesia For Flogging and Detaining Gay Men

In a rare follow-up story about a gay couple who was punished and detained for having gay sex, the UN is now calling out Indonesia for what they've been doing to gay men. The UN is also calling for everyone who's been detained in Indonesia for their sexual orientation to be released.

UN spokesperson Stephane Dujarric tells TMZ ... "We are concerned by the detention, public humiliation and ill-treatment of men perceived to be gay in Ind...

2 Gay Men Publicly Caned In Indonesia for Having Sex, Ryan Field Books

2 Gay Men Publicly Caned In Indonesia for Having Sex

This is where I draw the line. I will not support a country or a culture that does this to gay men. I have no respect for them, and I believe they need to be stopped. I don't care if straight people think that's not politically correct. If a culture or a country would do this to any marginalized group they are despicable people and don't deserve respect from anyone.

With that said, this happened in Indonesia.

Banda Aceh, Indonesia — Two men in In...

Gay Couple Kicked Out of NYC Restaurant, Ryan Field Books

Gay Couple Kicked Out of NYC Restaurant

This is really interesting because the last place I would expect to see anything anti-gay or homophobic would be in New York City. All my adult life I've thought of NYC as a haven for gay safety. Even when I was a kid I remember NYC being safe for gay people. And now this...

A gay New York City couple say they were harassed and asked to leave a restaurant this month because of their sexuality.

Here's more. They go into more detail about an apology and how the...
