Discrimination Against Gay Men Who Can't Donate Organs; Ryan Field Books

Discrimination Against Gay Men Who Can't Donate Organs

It's hard to believe this is still happening so many years later, but here you go.

“Sean did not have HIV, or any other STD’s for that matter,” Snyder wrote in a Facebook post detailing what happened. “But because he was a gay man living in America in 2020 he was not allowed one of his final wishes of donating his organs to help save another persons life.”

Here's the rest. They're saying it's a form of prohibition based on antiqued ideas and ...

Gay Marriages Rise 5 Years Later; Ryan Field Books

Gay Marriages Rise 5 Years Later; Ryan Field Books

It's hard to believe it's been 5 years since SCOTUS ruled on gay marriage, but that's a fact and so much has changed for gay people since then. This is amazing to read.

Five years after the U.S. Supreme Court legalized same-sex marriages around the U.S., more than a half million households are made up of married same-sex couples, according to figures the U.S. Census Bureau released Thursday.

Here's the rest.  There are so many factors with this, bu...

Heteronormative Harry Styles Will Play Gay Face in a Film "The Policeman"; Ryan Field Books

Heteronormative Harry Styles Will Play Gay Face in a Film

According to this article I'm linking to right now, Harry Styles will be playing gay face in a film that was adapted from a book titled, My Policeman. Harry Styles is straight, and the book, My Policeman, was written by a woman named Bethan Roberts, not a gay male author. I'm not sure if she's straight or gay, but clearly she is NOT a gay man.

What's really rich about this one, aside from the fact that there doesn't seem to be any gay men ...

Official .Gay Domain Launch Brings Historic LGBTQ Online Visibility

This is an interesting new way for gay people to gain representation online. It's about the launch of .gay and how these domains will be available to LGBTQ people.

Andrew Gillum Identifies as Bisexual; Ryan Field Books

Florida's Democrat Andrew Gillum Identifies as Bisexual

Last March I posed about a high profile Democrat in Florida who had a few problems that allegedly involved meth, a male sex worker named Travis, and a hotel room. He's also married to a woman and he has children.  Here's a link to the back story.

After a good deal of speculation, he recently made a few statements about how he identifies. The story made most news outlets, but this one seems to give good back story.

Former Florida gubernatoria...

The 15 WORST Countries for Gay Travelers; Ryan Field Books

The 15 WORST Countries for Gay Travelers

I post often about what's happening to LGBTQ people in other countries, and it's not always good. There are horrid, vicious, hateful countries in this world where gay people are not treated well at all. In some cases, they are abused and tortured and even imprisoned. So this list is important to know. It's also surprising because some of these places are not destinations I would have known about off hand.

One of the only non Muslim countries on this list i...

"Yellowstone" the Straightest TV Show On the Planet; Ryan Field Books

"Yellowstone" the Straightest TV Show On the Planet

When I first started going out to gay bars in the 90s I met a guy who became a very good friend. He was a Philadelphia attorney who lived in both Philadelphia and Montana. He owned a ranch in Montana and he spent a good deal of time there. And one of the things I learned from him is that there are, indeed, plenty of gay people in Montana.

With that said, I started watching the Paramount TV series, Yellowstone, and it's kind of interesting to se...

"Call Me by Your Name" Director Defends Straight Actors Playing Gayface; Ryan Field Books

"Call Me by Your Name" Director Defends Straight Actors Playing Gayface

The movie Call Me by Your Name was problematic for me from the beginning. Starting with the fact that the book was written by a straight man. I despise this movie for many reasons I'm not getting into now. For me, the entire movie is cringe, and it reminds me of how far we still have to go for total equality.

Yet I'm not shocked to see the director defend what they did with this movie. They always say something similar to th...

Closeted Writers Like "Love Simon's" Becky Albertalli Writing Gay Stories; Ryan Field Books

Closeted Writers Like "Love Simon's" Becky Albertalli Writing Gay Stories

I recently read that the writers who wrote the movie, Brokeback Mountain, will be doing another gay movie. Those writers, Larry McMurtry and Diana Ossana, are not gay men. Annie Proulx, a straight female author, wrote the story. This is gay content NOT written by gay writers. I'm just pointing how things go with gay content. This is nothing new.

With that said, this next story is a little different, and I didn't know anythi...

San Jose's First Dedicated LGBTQ Area; Ryan Field Books

San Jose's First Dedicated LGBTQ Area

Here's something new for LGBTQ people living in, and visiting, San Jose, California. I didn't even know there were things like this in cities and towns, and it's the first time I've seen any kind of officially dedicated LGBTQ area anywhere.

“Not only will this new district showcase LGBTQ diversity, expression, talent, history and cultural arts, but it will also be welcoming for LGBTQ visitors, allied businesses, residents and visitors of all types,” he added....
