A Trans Man Competing for Mr. Gay England; Ryan Field Books

A Trans Man Competing for Mr. Gay England

This is very interesting because it's so new to everyone. I've known many trans women over the years that I've met in the gay community, mostly in gay bars, but I honestly never knew any trans men. At least I don't think I've known any trans men. It's hard to tell because I may have know a closeted trans man. Either way, though, my support has always been there...even now...without comment or judgment. And I plan to spread my support far and wide.

He Shot A Gay Man Six Times In the Back; Ryan Field Books

He Shot A Gay Man Six Times In the Back

This is partly about that new Netflix series, "I Am a Killer: Released." I haven't watched it yet, but I've seen it while scrolling a couple of times. I do plan to watch it eventually, though.

Dale Wayne Sigler walked into a Brazoria County, Texas, Subway shop and robbed it of $400. When the man behind the counter, John William Zeltner Jr., attempted to flee into the back room, he was shot six times.

You can read more about it, here.  They go into much more ...

Body Building Gay Couple Brutally Slain at Home; They'll Kill Your For Being Gay; Ryan Field Books

Body Building Gay Couple Brutally Slain at Home

Here's a story about a gay couple who were body builders and living in Malta.

Friends of the two men told the Times of Malta Pandolfino had gone to dinner with family visiting from the U.K. when he left early to return home. When the family also returned to the residence later that evening, the two men were dead.

Here's more. They were very well loved in the community and they will be missed by many. Terribly sad story.

Brooklyn's East River State Park Renamed for Marsha P. Johnson; Ryan Field Books

Brooklyn's East River State Park Renamed for Marsha P. Johnson

This was nice to see. We're finally getting some recognition in history. Marsha P. Johnson, aka Malcolm Michaels Jr., was a gay activist who identified as a drag queen.

Brooklyn’s East River State Park is being renamed Marsha P. Johnson State Park, Governor Andrew Cuomo said in an August 24 announcement that coincided with the late LGBTQ icon’s 75th birthday.

Here's more about the park. There are a few excellent photos of how the park ...

How Being Catfished Helped This Gay Man; Ryan Field Books

How Being Catfished Helped This Gay Man

This is one of those stories that really do make you stop and think. In its own way it's actually something that helped a young man named Dustin come to terms with being gay. He had a rough time of it, especially the coming out part. And in the last 20 years I have seen similar cases like this on Facebook.

Dustin’s consequent journey into adulthood was not easy, but he said one thing that gave his 16-year-old self hope was meeting a fellow teenager named Ke...

Gay Mayor and Homophobic Sex Scandal; Ryan Field Books

Gay Mayor and Homophobic Sex Scandal

I think I've already posted something about this, so here's a little more.

It's about the openly gay mayor in a small town in Massachusetts who's also running for the state's 1st congressional district. But a college newspaper is alleging inappropriate behavior between the mayor and certain college students.

The allegations — that the young, gay mayor had used his position of power to sexually proposition vulnerable college students — spread quickly through hi...

Netflix's The Boys in the Band; Ryan Field Books

Netflix's The Boys in the Band

I think I've posted about this before. The Boys in the Band is a classic gay play that dates back to the pre HIV/AIDS days. It's the kind of gay history we don't see often, especially nowadays with straight people straight washing our culture as much as they can. Like most people around now, I never knew what gay life was like without AIDS and I find just that part of the cultural aspect alone fascinating.

This isn't the first time the play has been made into a film...

Gay Candidates and DC School Board; Ryan Field Books

Gay Candidates and DC School Board

This interests me because I grew up in a family that was always involved in this kind of politics. My dad ran for, and was elected to, the local school board several times. He served for years. And back then...in the 80s and 90s...you'd never hear of anyone openly gay running for public office. Not even for the school board. Of course I'm sure there were gay people running for all kinds of political offices. You just didn't know it.

The number of out LGBTQ candi...

Trapped In Mexico, Violence, No HIV Meds, and Gay Man Seeking Asylum; Ryan Field Books

Trapped In Mexico, Violence, No HIV Meds, and Gay Man Seeking Asylum

Here's the story of a guy who fled Venezuela for valid reasons, but he got trapped in Mexico waiting to get into the US where AIDS, COVID, and other forms of violence are now putting him at serious risk.

But Fernandez — a gay man who is HIV-positive and received a diagnosis of clinical AIDS shortly after requesting asylum — said the widespread crime and lack of health care on the Mexican side of the border has left him in a near...

Randy Rainbow Apologizes and It's BS; Ryan Field Books

Randy Rainbow Apologizes and It's Lame BS

I've already posted about the recently discovered racist and transphobic Tweets that were posted by Randy Rainbow about 10 years ago. And now, good old Rainbow dude, is apologizing...and in the most interesting way.

"...I learned many years ago, over the last decade, that there are things that you must be sensitive about. There are issues that I was not aware of back then. In 2010, we weren’t anywhere near where we are now.”

That's BS. And it's lame.
