Ryan Field Books; After Tweeting About Gay Marriage People Want a Teacher Fired

After Tweeting About Gay Marriage People Want a Teacher Fired

A teacher in Fort Zumwalt, MO tweeted something hurtful about gay marriage and now people are calling for their dismissal. Aside from the obvious issues, it’s also a good example of free speech and consequences.

The public Twitter account has since been made private. However, the screenshot has been shared multiple times on social media. It reads, “Never should have allowed gay marriage to start with. Marriage is between man and woman...

Authors Come Together In Support of Trans People and Push Back Harry Potter Lady; Ryan Field Books

Authors Come Together In Support of Trans People and Push Back Harry Potter Lady

When I first spotted this on Twitter my reaction was, "finally."

Authors like Neil Gaiman and Stephen King are banning together to support transgender people. And it also looks as if they are going directly up against JK Rowling. Frankly, I've never been a huge fan of Rowling in any regard.

Authors Stephen King, Neil Gaiman, and Margaret Atwood have joined with other American and Canadian writers and editors to suppo...

He Came Out As Gay In the 80s; Ryan Field Books

He Came Out As Gay In the 80s

This is a wonderful, fantastic story about a gay man who came out in the 80s, but only after a good deal of thought, back when most gay people were not coming out in corporate America. Tony worked in corporate in the 90s and he never could have come out then. For most gay men, coming out prior to 2010 was almost impossible. So considering everything that was happening in the 80s, including AIDS, this guy was brave.

She told me that I would not be fired and went on to...

She's Straight He's Gay and They Have a Conjugal Relationship; Ryan Field Books

She's Straight He's Gay and They Have a Conjugal Relationship

My realtor right now is an openly gay man who was once married to a straight woman, and they have children together. They're not married anymore, but they are still connected because of the children. And I can't even tell you how many gay friends I have that have been with women and have kids. I wouldn't say it's most gay men, not by any means. But it's also not uncommon for gay men to be with women in the early stages of their lives....

Polish Leader Blames Gay Activist for Fake News; First Openly Gay Justice on California Supreme Court; Ryan Field Books

Polish Leader Blames Gay Activist for Fake News

This is what's happening to LGBTQ people in Poland.

Bart Staszewski felt angry and hopeless when local governments in Poland started passing resolutions last year declaring themselves to be free of “LGBT ideology.”

Here's a link to the whole story.  The Prime Minister of Poland, Mateusz Morawiecki, claims Staszewski is making false claims and that there are no human rights issues in Poland.

I really don't know what it's like over there.

First Openly...

Hugh Jackman's Wife Responds To Rumors That He's Gay and She Gets it Wrong; Ryan Field Books

Hugh Jackman's Wife Responds To Rumors That He's Gay and She Gets it ALL So Wrong

On the surface, Hugh Jackman's wife sounds logical, but this goes a lot deeper. And she could have chosen a better way to discuss this in public.

I see these magazines and they're so mean-spirited… I hope people realize it's all made up. [Hugh's] been gay for so many years, I was gay too when I did [the 1988 film] Shame. They were shocked when I got married. It's just wrong. It's like someone saying to Elton John, ‘...

Netflix's "The Boys in the Band"; Ryan Field Books

Netflix's The Boys in the Band

If you haven't seen either the play or the original movie, The Boys in the Band, you can still definitely watch and enjoy the new Netflix version. I've seen the play, the original movie, and the newest version and I love them all. For me, this is more than just a gay movie. This is gay culture and gay history at it's finest.

Of course, it's dark, but that's what life was like for gay men back during that time period. I have so many older gay male friends who tell m...

New York Man Punched and Called Anti-Gay Slur; Ryan Field Book

New York Man Punched and Called Anti-Gay Slur

We read about these things happening in other countries and sometimes even here in parts of the US, but we don’t expect it in New York. Evidently, it can happen anywhere.

A man filming a TikTok video on a Manhattan street was attacked by a passerby who first called him an anti-gay slur, according to the New York City Police Department.

Here’s the rest.In a general sense, NY seems to be becoming less safe for everyone. Cynthia Nixon would have been a m...

Charlie Carver Got Slapped For Being Too Femme; Ryan Field Books

Charlie Carver Got Slapped For Being Too Femme

In all honesty, I have seen gay men attack each other over this sort of thing all my life. Some gay men are effeminate and some aren't. And those gay men who are not effeminate can be vicious to effeminate gay men. It can get very nasty at times. But I don't think I've ever heard of anyone getting slapped. It's usually a verbal attack, not a physical. At least from my experience.

One of the nine out gay or bisexual stars of Netflix’s The Boys in the ...

Eric Trump and the Passive Aggressive Homophobia On Twitter; Gay Teen Allegedly Ousted from Music Group; Ryan Field Books

Eric Trump and the Passive Aggressive Homophobia On Twitter

On any given day, Twitter can be a gutter of homophobia. It can be open and in your face homophobia, or subtle and passive aggressive. I think I prefer the former because at least I know where I stand. With the latter, you're never really sure.

I'm not going to ramble on about this. But I do see a great deal of passive aggressive homophobia on Twitter. And many times it's coming from so-called allies, with celebrities like foul-mouthed D...
