"The Crown" and the Queen Referring to Gay People As Friends of Dorothy; Ryan Field Books
The Crown and the Queen Referring to Gay People As Friends of Dorothy
Season 4 of The Crown just dropped on Netflix and I've been watching two episodes a night since Saturday. Once again, it's an interesting series and I love all the history. I may not believe it all to be 100% accurate, but I still like to watch it in a general sense.
With that said, there's an interesting line that was once used all the time to refer to gay people. In this case it's, "friends of Dorothy." But there have been m...

Rushing: One Huge Mistake New Writers Make
Even though publishing is why I originally started this website back in the 2000s, I haven't posted anything publishing-related in a while. I'm not even sure about what's happening with new writers in publishing these days. I haven't had time because I've been working too hard on my own LGBTQ books for the last 15 years with my own agent, editors, and publishers.
I haven't sold millions of books like Stephen King, but I have sold thousands of books and ...

Dashing In December A Gay Cowboy Christmas Movie From MTV Studios
Here's another gay Christmas movie I just heard about. As far as I know, it was written and directed by Jake Helgren. I don't know much about him, but I know we share a few mutual friends on social media...all people I love to death. In fact, other than what I'm linking to right now I don't know much else about this movie.
It’s big city life versus the draw of the wide-open country in the movie that is set to premiere on Paramoun...

Justice Alito's Problem with Gay Marriage; Ryan Field Books
Justice Alito's Problem with Gay Marriage
Apparently, Supreme Court Justice Samuel Alito still has a problem with gay marriage. Yes. Even after all these years, and after nothing terrible happened to anyone. We gained the legal right to marry and if anything the entire concept of marriage has become even stronger than ever before. But Justice Alito still seems to have issues with it.
.Supreme Court Justice Samuel Alito criticized same-sex marriage as a harbinger of the erosion of free speech in...

Yet Another African Country, Angola, FINALLY Makes Gay Sex Legal; Ryan Field Books
Yet Another African Country, Angola, FINALLY Makes Gay Sex Legal
Forgive me if I sound as if I'm short on patience with these anti-gay, homophobic parts of the world, but there is no rule in any book that states that I have to support anti-gay people or places. And I won't. The good news, though, is that things are changing slowly in many parts of the world.
Gay sex will be legal in Angola from February 2020 after the country’s National Assembly gave final approval to its new Penal Code.

OMG Real Life Gay Actors Playing Gay Parts in Movies on TV, It's Scandalous; Ryan Field Books
OMG Real Life Gay Actors Playing Gay Parts in Movies on TV, It's Scandalous
Well, this is just awful news. As if things aren't bad enough lately with COVID, this makes it all just worse. I don't know how straights are going to deal with this. It goes against everything they have ever learned with regard to their highly privileged backgrounds. I know it's only acting, and I know that straights believe anyone should be allowed to play gayface, but Lifetime actually decided to hire openly gay actor...

We Still Have Gay Shame Around; Ryan Field Books
We Still Have Gay Shame Around
I post about this often. The fact that there is still gay shame and it continues to haunt and frustrate many of us. It's one of the reasons why I continue with this 11 year old web site even though I could live very well without it now.
And sometimes I feel as though I'm the only one talking about the gay shame that still exists. The mainstream media never even thinks this is worthy of posting, and there are so many straight so-called allies out there who think ever...

Why I Ignore Gay Presses More Than Ever Before; Ritchie Torres First Gay Afro Latino Member of Congress; Ryan Field Books
Why I Ignore Gay Presses More Than Ever Before
If you notice, I rarely ever link to the more commercial gay presses any longer. Online publications like Queerty or PinkNews have become so irrelevant to me and most gay people I know, I just can't support them any longer. If the news isn't a lie, it's greatly exaggerated. Or it's gay bait, or some kind of ridiculous clickbait. I've grown to prefer the more classic gay news sources where I know that I can depend on the information and where they ar...

Sheriff Fired Her For Being Gay, Now She's the New Sheriff; Ryan Field Books
Sheriff Fired Her For Being Gay, Now She's the New Sheriff
I hate to admit this, but I love a good karma story...or even better, a good revenge story. I was never one of those people to just walk away and take the hits with a smile. I prefer getting even or at least making something right in order to get ahead. And that's why I love this story so much. It's truly perfect karma and this woman advanced herself in spite of all the poor odds.
Charmaine McGuffey, an out lesbian, has been elected sher...

Gay In Nigeria and Black In America; Ryan Field Books
Gay In Nigeria and Black In America
I'm always interested in anything LGBTQ on the global front. This one deals with both Nigeria and America. It's about a black man who fled from Nigeria for being gay only to find himself terrified of being in America because he's black. Listen, I can't comment on being black, obviously, but I can say I have been terrified at times for being gay in America. Of course not to the degree as I would in other countries, but the fear is still there for many gay peopl...
