My Own Memoir and Gay Couples Buying Homes in the 90s, Ryan Field Books

My Own Memoir and Gay Couples Buying Homes in the 90s

About a month ago Tony and I sold our wonderful home of 18 years, and it was a less than thrilling experience for us. Actually, it was pure hell. Everything went well financially, and we are grateful for that. However, emotionally it gutted us. I'm not getting into that now. I posted all about that, here. We are still very unhappy with the move and we will list our new home for sale with a realtor very soon. Even though the new house is only a...

First There was Richard Grenell and Then There Was Pete Buttigieg, Ryan Field Books

First There was Richard Grenell and Then There was Pete Buttigieg

I've seen more than a few headlines this week by the manipulative media raving about the fact that Pete Buttigieg will be Secretary of the Department of Transportation in the Biden Administration. And it is a big thing for him and for LGBTQ people. If you recall, Buttigieg was the only openly gay candidate to run against Biden in the Democratic Primaries and he wound up taking his place in line behind the elderly Biden with regard ...

Homophobic Hungary Bans Gay Adoption by Redefining "Family", Ryan Field Books

Homophobic Hungary Bans Gay Adoption by Redefining "Family"

On the global front, Hungary just amended its constitution by redefining "family," which can now also effectively ban gay adoption. Of course, this was no accident by conservatives.

The new Hungarian constitution defines family as "based on marriage and the parent-child relation. The mother is a woman, the father a man."

Here's more.  One LGBTQ group is calling this a "dark day for human rights." Unfortunately, it sounds a lot like what h...

Ski Champion Hig Roberts Comes Out As Gay, Ryan Field Books

Ski Champion Hig Roberts Comes Out As Gay

I try hard to be as objective as I can be here on this website, but sometimes I just can't do that. This guy, Hig Roberts, is absolutely gorgeous. He is one of the most gorgeous men I think I've ever seen. And I am so glad for him that he decided to come out. I have known many gay men who have struggled with coming out and it's never been easy. But I have never known any gay people who came out and regretted it. They are always glad they did it.

In an int...

UK Allows Sexually Active Gay Men to Donate Blood, Ryan Field Books

UK Allows Sexually Active Gay Men to Donate Blood

In what's being considered a major shift that's designed to change dated blood donating policies dating back to the 1970s and 80s from the early days of the AIDS crisis, sexually active gay and bi men in the UK can now donate blood. We're talking more than 40 years later. Up until recently, men who had sex with men were not allowed to donate blood at all. It was an "outright" ban.

“This is such a fundamental change and victory,” Ethan Spibey, a b...

Gay Political Twitter Drama With Patti Labelle's Relative, Ryan Field Books

Gay Political Twitter Drama With Patti Labelle's Relative

Well, I have no idea how I missed this one when it happened, but somehow I was spared from all the festivities. It's really such an odd and confusing story that it's hard to explain.

Browning, clearly a white man in his profile picture, claimed to be a "black gay guy" whose life was improved by Trump. Former Advocate editor in chief Zach Stafford screencapped the tweet before it was deleted:

Here's more. You really...

More LGBTQ Couples Want Kids, Ryan Field Books

 More LGBTQ Couples Want Kids

I follow two local weather people on social media. Both are from the same TV station, both are from the Philadelphia market, and both are married. The only difference between them is that one is a gay married couple and the other is a straight married couple. The gay married couple has two kids and the straight married couple has this really cool dog but no kids. Even though I'm gay, and married for a long time to my husband, I feel closer to the straight...

Risk of Osteoporosis Higher For Gay Men, Ryan Field Books

Risk For Osteoporosis Higher For Gay Men

This is interesting because I've known several older gay men who've had osteoporosis. And it hasn't been fun for any of them. It's a very painful issue.

Non-heterosexual minority men have a greater risk of poor bone health than heterosexual men, and this risk appears to be independent of lifestyle and psychosocial factors, suggests a study published in the American Journal of Human Biology.

Here's the link for more. They claim that minority...

Another Bad Review for The Prom; Shawn Mendes Doesn't Understand Anything About Being Gay, Ryan Field Books

Another Bad Review for The Prom

I'm seeing so many of these bad reviews for Ryan Murphy's, "The Prom," I don't think I'll even bother to watch this one. Frankly, all I have to hear is that it resembles Glee and I'm done.

Yet to watch how Ryan Murphy and his collaborators turn everything into the cinematic equivalent of loud & proud white noise is more deflating than you can imagine.

Here's the rest.  The only one who continues to get by unscathed seems to be Meryl Streep and...

James Corden, The Prom Review, and Straight Actors Playing Gay Face, Ryan Field Books

James Corden, The Prom Review, and Straight Actors Playing Gay Face

The discussion on whether or not straight actors coming from places of straight privilege should play gay characters is an ongoing thing, for lack of a better term right now. And it seems to be gaining momentum lately. This time it comes in the form of a review for Ryan Murphy's Netflix show titled, The Prom.

But while Corden is inexcusably bad here, more blame should lie at the feet of Murphy for not only choosing...
