Russell Tovey Speaks on Section 28 and Growing Up Gay; Ryan Field Books

Russell Tovey Speaks on Section 28 and Growing Up Gay

I don’t know much about section 28, but it sounds like Russell Tovey grew up gay like me here in the US. I can relate to everything he’s saying and then some.

Russell Tovey has spoken out about the impact of going to school under the homophobic Section 28 – wheg gay was wrong, dangerous, and disgusting”.

Here’s the rest.

I never knew this. Apparently, Section 28 was homophobic legislation introduced by Mrs. Thatcher.

The Straight Pride Parade Am...

Nigerian Judge Throws Out Case Against 47 Gay Men; Ryan Field Books

Nigerian Judge Throws Out Case Against 47 Gay Men

Here's something interesting that seems to be getting attention in many places. And rightly so. I think I even posted about this before.

The men were arrested in a police raid on a Lagos hotel in the city’s Egbeda district in 2018. Police said the men were being initiated into a gay club, but the defendants said they were attending a birthday party.

Here's the rest. Apparently, the judge threw out the case due to, "lack of diligent prosecution." It...

The Walrus and the Carpenter BY LEWIS CARROLL

I just always loved this and I wanted to post it so I can always get to it quickly.  It has a certain calming effect.

The Walrus and the Carpenter

Launch Audio in a New WindowBY LEWIS CARROLL"The sun was shining on the sea,
      Shining with all his might:
He did his very best to make
The billows smooth and bright —
And this was odd, because it was
      The middle of the night.

The moon was shining sulkily,
      Because she thought the sun
Had got no business to be there
      After the day wa...

Gays Abused and Tortured in Egypt; Book Review for "A Starr Is Born" by Ryan Field

Gays Abused and Tortured in Egypt

Here's another sad article from the global front. It's about Egyptian officials who torture and abuse gay people in what's being called one of the worst violations of LGBTQ rights in that region. This quote is actually coming from someone who suffered the abuse first hand, and it sounds as if it just ruined him. No one should ever have to deal with this kind of abuse again.

“I suffered the worst verbal abuse I have ever encountered by police officers, and they f...

Over 100 Years of History with Gay Relationships; Ryan Field Books

Over 100 Years of History with Gay Relationships

I've posted before about the relationship between President John F. Kennedy and Lem Billings. Back in those days no one used the word gay, but I think it would be safe to say that if Lem Billings were alive today he would be referred to as gay. And he was JFK's best friend and advisor for life. They were inseparable. I've posted about it many times and it's in all the books. Of course, all the books have toned down the relationship, and a good Kenn...

They are Still Making Gay References to Those Male Penguins; Ryan Field Books

They are Still Making Gay References to Those Male Penguins

Last year they couldn't wait to compare gay men to a couple of male penguins, and now they are doing it again this year. Because who doesn't want to be compared to a GD bird? I would just like to see them try this with any other marginalized group of people. Could you imagine the repercussions if they did?

A pair of two male African penguins at a Dutch zoo, who made international headlines last year when they stole an egg from a heterose...

All the Gay Content on TikTok; Ryan Field Books

All the Gay Content on TikTok

I love TikTok and I check it out all the time. And I do see a good deal of gay content, and it's usually sexually suggestive gay content from straight men, too. At least they appear to be straight. You really can't be certain anymore.

So are they using quasi gay content to get hits? I'm really not sure. Maybe this generation of young people doesn't have the boundaries that previous generations have had...or as they put it: "an era of declining cultural homophobia." ...

Poll Shows 45% Queer Men Are Backing Trump; Ryan Field Books

Poll Shows 45% Queer Men Are Backing Trump
This story is one of the reasons why I never get political here on this web site. Nowadays it's hard to know who is supporting any given candidate and I don't want to insult any of my readers with partisan rhetoric. My job is to write fiction, not preach about politics. I do get into issues here from time to time, but they are almost always related to LGBTQ people and equality. I made no secret of the fact that I adore Pete Buttigieg and was thrilled to ...

Civil Unions for Gay People and the Misguided Pope; Ryan Field Books

Civil Unions for Gay People and the Misguided Pope

I am amazed at how so many straight people are praising the Pope for supporting civil unions. And in all fairness, I'm even more amazed at how some gay people are praising him as if they don't know any better. I don't get it. While we were fighting for legalized same-sex marriage here in the US I was staunchly against civil unions. I wanted equality for all, and that meant legalized same-sex marriage...the word "marriage." I argued that point man...

Support For Gay Marriage At All Time High; Ryan Field Books

Support For Gay Marriage At All-Time High

It feels as if it was just yesterday we were all posting and writing about legalized gay marriage. I know I've linked to more things than I can even recall at this point. And still, after all these years, it seems to be an issue with certain segments of the mainstream. It's improving, but it's still an issue that's coming up in conversation. But more than that, we are still looking for their approval. And I am so sick of people who care about that.

Sevent...
